*Clunk Clunk*
Siana froze as she heard the sound of heels coming toward her. Her heart stopped beating for a second; all she focused on was that sound.
Closing her eyes tightly, Siana hoped that it would be Verona who’d be standing behind her. She calmed down her panic for she didn’t want to look so bad if she met her again. Wiping the invisible tears off her face, she was ready to turn around. A new hope took over her heart as she felt like Verona was near and she would meet her now.
Siana turned around slowly, a suppressed smile on her face as she hid her excitement from her lover who was apparently walking towards her.
“Oh I finally found you!” Siana’s heart dropped immediately as she heard that voice. She tried her best to keep a neutral expression on her face cause she didn’t want this person to know any of her secrets.
“What is she even doing here?” Siana thought to herself as she clenched her fists tightly.
Forcing a smile on her face, Siana finally turned around to face that person, and there she was. Chloe Adams was walking towards her with a bright smile on her face like always. She was dressed nicely like always and had changed her clothes since that morning cause of the coffee that was spilled all over them.
Her blonde hair was tied in a ponytail, swinging around with every step she took. The 4-inch heels echoed in the quiet library but no one dared questioned her about it.
It was surprising to see that there was no one around her. Otherwise, Miss Chloe was always surrounded by admirers and people trying to get in her good books. Being the most popular girl wasn’t easy indeed and she too had her own secrets to it.
Siana bit her lip as she watched her walk towards her. But before Chloe could see properly, that expression was turned into a bright smile again.
Chloe walked up to her and held her hand as she bowed forward to catch her breath. It seemed as if she had been running around trying to find Siana for quite some time.
Siana looked at her with a confused expression. She didn’t like anyone touching her and Chloe knew that very well but still, she was holding her hand. She slowly tried to break away from her grip but that just made her tighten the grip around her wrist. This wasn’t like her at all and usually, when Chloe wanted to meet her, she always messaged her.
Miss perfect Chloe never ran around looking for someone like that and never even held her best friend’s hand.
“C…Chloe…” Siana whispered slowly as she tried to pull her hand away but Chloe seemed to have too much strength for some reason.
“Gosh! I’ve been looking for you for so freaking long! I came to the library before as well but I couldn’t find you at all…”
Chloe finally looked up and was surprised to see Siana staring at her with a blank expression.
“W…what is that?” Siana thought to herself as she tilted her head slowly. “Are her eyes glowing amber?”
Siana blinked once because she couldn’t believe her eyes but still it was the same. Chloe’s usual brown eyes were glowing Amber for some reason. Siana didn’t say anything and just kept staring cause she couldn’t quite grasp what was happening. There seemed to be too many questions on her mind.
“What happened?” Chloe snapped her finger in front of Siana and she finally broke eye contact with her. She noticed that the more Chloe blinked the more faded the glow in her eyes got and they soon returned back to normal.
No matter how confused or taken aback she was, Siana didn’t dare ask any questions from Chloe. She didn’t feel like she’d be getting any honest answers.
Ever since they had met, Siana had always had a feeling that Chloe was never as sweet as she appeared to be. She had always sensed bad energy from her. Chloe tried her best to know her but it never seemed like she was truly interested but was just pretending to be so…maybe for sake of Alex.
Siana therefore, never truly believed her and didn’t get too close to her. She knew very well though that Alex loved her a lot and therefore, she never told him anything. She was happy for him and she also liked being free and by herself so she liked how things were. She was finally away from the overprotective and controlling Alex and she liked it.
“Oh- nothing!” Siana put on a bright smile on her face again. “I’m sorry I just zoned out for a second…” She shrugged her shoulders as she looked at her innocently.
Chloe sighed and let go of her hand immediately. She turned around and walked around a little to catch her breath.
“Oh god…why is she so stupid!” Chloe thought to herself. “If only I didn’t have to deal with her…”
There it was! The dark energy. The hateful and resentful feeling that Siana always got from her. Her expression changed and turned into a facade of happiness like they always did.
“So…what are you doing here?” Siana asked her as she put her hands behind her back and walked close to her.
“Oh-” That was all she got for a few seconds. Siana just stood there staring at the ground as Chloe tumbled on her words again and again. Just how hard was it to create a fake story?
“I…um…I wanted to apologize to you for this morning…” Siana tilted her head again as she put on an innocent face. She was laughing on the inside cause she knew very well what the truth was.
Sitting there on the ground, it wasn’t so hard to see Chloe’s smile while her friend was shouting at Siana. That expression of satisfaction when she saw Siana panicking and apologizing constantly and that feeling of pride as she acted like a good person and stopped her friend. They were all visible to Siana and she understood them all very well.
“But it wasn’t even your fault, it was your friend who shouted at me…you even tried to stop her so you don’t have to apologize.” Siana said in a sweet voice as she caressed Chloe’s shoulder slowly.
There! That suppressed smirk on Chloe’s face was clearly visible to Siana as she played along in her play of perfection. It amused her that she was pretending so much in front of everyone to just remain the popular girl that she had always been.
“I know…but still I wanted to let you know that I talked to that friend of mine and she won’t ever do anything like that again.” Chloe said as she caressed Siana’s hand lightly.
Her grip on her wrist from earlier had surprisingly left a pretty bad mark behind but that was completely ignored by the two of them.
“Well thank you for worrying for me so much, Chloe. It means a lot to me.” Siana got a sympathetic smile in return but the evil smirk behind it couldn’t be hidden from her.
“I’m gonna go then, I have a lesson now…” Chloe looked at her with sorry eyes and left in no time.
Siana’s eyes were fixed on her back till she disappeared. Her brain still trying to figure out why this person pretended to love her when she hated her so much. Was it cause of Alex? Or some other reason that she wasn’t aware of yet?
She was about to turn around and get her stuff to leave the library. Her hopes to meet Verona again were crushed cause she didn’t seem to be anywhere around her. And if she was, she chose to leave Siana behind and that ached her the most.
“Hiss!” Siana felt a stinging pain in her wrist suddenly and when she looked down at it, her eyes widened in shock. She still had the finger marks left on it and they were turning purple and had swollen up. Siana couldn’t believe her eyes but at the same time, she could believe what had happened. She had always suspected Chloe of hiding something behind that facade of perfection.
“She hadn’t come to say sorry at all…” Siana thought to herself as she looked towards the door from where Chloe had left. Her wrists closed tightly as she tried to control her anger.
“Siana please help us with this.” In no time, Siana had a heavy plate of food orders in her hands. “Give it to table 6.” Ann told her with a smile on her face. Siana smiled back but sighed as she turned around. It was currently 5.30 pm and she had gotten done with college about half an hour ago and now she was at her part-time job. She was supposed to work there for 6 hours but she was tired already from everything that had happened during the day. There was a bright smile on her face the whole time she was working there cause she didn’t want things in her personal life to affect her work or the other people around her. Siana felt uncomfortable if anyone asked her how she was or if something was wrong. Ignoring everything going on in her life, Siana just focused on her work as she served customers in that restaurant. It was a pretty famous one so they were really busy in the evening. Her already tired body was tired out even more by working constantly for the rest of the day. Howev
“V…Verona…” Siana whispered under her breath as she stared at the figure that stood outside her door. She finally saw that same bright smile again and it brought tears to her eyes immediately. The smile reassured her they both still felt the same way, that they were still what they were 5 years also and Verona was still madly in love with Siana. What was even happening? Why was Verona here? If she had come back, why didn’t she meet her in the library? Why was she hiding for so long? If they were done already, why had she come back now? There were several unanswered questions in her mind. However, Siana chose to ignore them all and pulled the door wide open. With no other words, she jumped into Verona’s arms who was much taller than her. Verona laughed as she caught her and hugged her back. “Hi honey…” Verona whispered into her eyes as she squeezed her closer. She had a bright smile on her face as she held the love of her life close in her arms. “How you been, my love?” All the ans
Pitch-black darkness…even after she opened her eyes, Siana couldn’t see anything. She was confused by what was happening and had no idea where she was. When she moved her hands, she realized that her hands had suddenly turned small and so was her whole body. She became a child somehow…about a 5-year-old child.Once she moved from her place she realized that she was inside an unfamiliar room. There were no lights on and therefore it was dark. Siana got down from the bed which was a hard task with her tiny body. Still, she pulled herself and walked towards the door, the creaks of which provided the only light in that room. She opened the door slowly and walked into a completely different and vintage hallway. There were pictures of queens and kings on the walls, the windows showed a sigh of just endless forests. It seemed like she was in a castle and that confused Siana even more. She heard some voices from the distance and she walked towards them. They led her to a room that looked li
The message on Siana’s phone confused her but she didn’t want to do anything about it. She had gotten too scared the day before by everything that he had done to her so she didn’t want to walk into the darkness voluntarily. Time was passing like sand and Siana spent all of it just sitting on the couch, wondering what had happened with Verona last night and how she had just left without a trace. Why did she have to do that? She felt something rub against her leg and flinched from suddenness. Once she looked down, she saw Kai rubbing against her legs as if he was trying to comfort her. “How do you always know how I feel?” She said as she sighed. She bent down and picked up Kai. And after half an hour of zoning out, she finally got up. She carried him to the bedroom and fell onto the bed. “I don’t know what to do…” She sighed deeply as she felt conflicted by all the mess that occurred in less than a day. Kai sat close to her and licked her hand. She smiled faintly and petted his head
“Sorry…I don’t know who you are…” Verona said in a confused tone as she looked at Siana calmly. “Hey! She already said she doesn’t know you so let go of her!” Lilia, Chloe’s best friend said in a raised voice as she intended to let everyone know what was happening. Her motive once again was to embarrass Siana. Siana looked up and observed what faces they all were making. Her hand was still tightly holding onto Verona’s wrist. Chloe and Lilia stood on either of Verona’s sides, the former was composed and calm but she too was pretending as if she didn’t know Siana as she didn’t want anyone to question her or find out that the two of them got along pretty well. Lilia on the other hand was very obviously annoyed and was rolling her eyes as she stared at Siana. “Let go already!” She said as she pushed Siana away who moved a few steps back. “Lilia…” Chloe said in a sighing tone as she just stood there and looked away as if she never saw that sight. She wanted to get out of there but it
*An hour later, in the gym room*“And that’s pretty much all… she just pretended as if nothing ever happened and walked away.” Chloe looked worriedly at Alex once again who stood there with a serious expression.“Why did you have to cause all that drama and cry? What did she even do to you?” He questioned her as he stared at her coldly. “Baby…she’s always ruining my day and stealing you from me. I just had enough at this point. I can’t handle her threats anymore and her claiming that you’re hers. I need you all to myself and I don’t want her interfering in our life anymore…” Chloe once again started her acting and sobbed loudly as she hugged him. “She makes me insecure and scared and I just can’t handle it any more honey…please believe me.” Alex sighed and rubbed her back. Chloe smiled cunningly as she watched him turn softer with each passing second. “I do believe you…but you can’t be acting this way. You have to worry about your reputation as well.” He cupped her cheeks and wiped
“So what’s the plan?” Elijah asked as he sat down next to Siana, who was once again lost in her thoughts. “They’re all here…just as we had planned. We got them all together after so many years…” Siana nodded along but didn’t say anything for a while. “We’ll wait for them to attack first…let them feel like they’re ahead of us. And as usual, keep your identity secret. Don’t even let them get suspicious about it.” She wanted him as she looked coldly into his eyes. “Yes, I will be careful of it.” He lowered his head as he agreed to it. “I have to go now, be careful with everything.” She picked up her back and got ready to leave. It was already 8 pm and it was dark outside. Elijah got up and walked her to the door. “Don’t let her get to your head.” He advised her as he had noticed her zoning out ever since he had talked about her. It seemed like Verona was going to be her biggest enemy but she had already turned into her weakness. She had loved her truly way before she had known
Siana’s feet stopped moving as soon as she entered the hallway toward her apartment. All the efforts that she had made to keep herself together went in vain as her heart dropped and she felt a rush of emotions taking over her. After being so close to Chloe and ignoring Siana completely, what was Verona even doing here? She stood before her door, leaning against the wall, wearing a black leather jacket that Siana had difficulty recognizing. Her hair was left loose and it fell softly onto her shoulders as she fixed her eyes on her phone, a sly smile all over her face. The leather jacket over the white shirt and the pants made her unrecognizable to Siana as she had never seen Verona dress that way. She stood still without any moment for a few seconds as she just tried to figure out who this person in front of her actually was. She had never seen that sly smile before and therefore was unable to understand what it meant. She could tell that the person in front of her wasn't the one sh
