Vanessa stared at the restaurant bewildered. She had expected it to be a small restaurant where she could just grab her grubs and leave at the speed of light. But they had something going on here. Vanessa stared at the description of the restaurant and looked back at what stood before her. The front of the restaurant was true glass, but at the same time, it offered privacy to its customers. Vanessa slowly stepped out of her car and looked at the glowing name on the signboard.“ZAMAN'S GRILLS,” she spelled it out. It looked like she wouldn't be able to get in without a reservation, although there were chairs outside, but she didn't want to be hijacked by the media. Vanessa made up her mind and entered the main restaurant, the interior was even better, with the makings of a 4.5-star restaurant. She settled into a chair and stared at the servery, where a middle-aged man and woman were working. Those middle-aged people were Paul and Rita Lawman. “Uh hi, I wanted to make a reservation
This was very bad. Cold sweat broke out of Kelvin's body as he worked a thousand scenarios of how today would end. Was this the end? Had she found out? Was Oliver's company and reputation going to plummet down the drain? He was very certain that the woman in front of him was Vanessa Willow. Of course, she was the one, the one that had caused problems earlier for Oliver. If she was here, it was bad news for him, it was instant death. Kelvin nodded his head at Vanessa as he greeted her. He looked at Rita as she smiled at her and he wondered what signal he could give her to back off from the crazy woman in front of him. How could someone so beautiful be as evil as the press portrayed her to be?“Kelvin!” Rita called out. She noticed that he had been staring out into space for a long time. Kelvin greeted Rita briefly and turned to Vanessa. "I hope we are making you comfortable ma'am," Kelvin said politely and wore a smile on his face. "How about we give you a feel of our VIP spaces
"You're fired!"She felt her heart sink deeper into her ribcage. She felt her hearing capacity reduce, so much so that all she could hear were distant echoes of the words that had been uttered to her. She felt her mouth go dry.She lifted her hazel brown eyes to meet her boss. He looked angry. She had deduced that from the way his brows knitted together, causing the fair skin around the area to wrinkle as well. From the way his breathing had become harsher and from the way he looked at her. His arms were folded together, causing the blue shirt he wore to form creases. His dark pants did the same. It was probably the effect of his anger."Mr Mark maybe I should come back when you're calm and no longer angry," she suggested but in a low voice. She heard her own panic in her voice even though she was trying to hide it.Mr Mark glared at the little woman standing before him in anger. Even if the white shirt and dark pants she wore made her look innocent, he knew she would be exactly the s
He stepped out of his house and scanned the area for his car. He ran his fingers through his hair and adjusted his transparent glasses. He was sure that he looked breath taking. His deep green eyes was one of his greatest charm. He smiled. It was always the aim.As if on cue, a black Peugeot pulled in through the gate. His smile widened. His driver was always on time. The car came to a stop beside him. The window pane came down and revealed the one who was driving. It was a fair skinned man with a low cut hair. He was dressed in black suit and pants. He smiled at him. "Hello Jeff, always on time," the man commended his driver.Jeff smiled and unlocked the doors for his boss. He would have walked out to open the door for him but his boss had stopped him from doing so a long time ago. "Thank you sir, it pleases me to serve you," Jeff answered. His boss shut the door behind himself and watched his driver from behind the seat. "How many times will I correct you, Jeff? Call me Oliver. I
Zara was restless. She kept pacing to and fro as she waited for news from the doctors who had all gone in to save him. Each time she peered into the room from where she stood, she could see them trying to stabilize him. All their hands were on him and the only time he moved, was when he was forced to by their machines. She was scared of losing her best and only friend. Kelvin had become more than a friend to her. He had become the man she loved. He was everything to her. She could not imagine a world where he did not exist.Other Nurses and doctors hurried down the corridor as they tried to reach their patients. Zara kept hoping that one of the doctors inside the room with Kelvin would stop and give her the news she was waiting for. Or maybe Kelvin would just walk out of the ICU and tell her that he was perfectly fine. Images of him coughing up blood started coming to her again. That moment had been the scariest moment of her life. She wondered what could have caused it. Had he perha
“In other words, I will be ruined?” Oliver asked almost to himself than to Anne.“Yes, we will be ruined,” Anne made it official.Oliver felt his breathing lose its calmness again. He felt his world begin to crack. It was crashing down before his eyes. He had never once thought that a day like this would come. What had he done to deserve this fate? “What’s causing it?” Jeff asked, breaking Oliver out of his thoughts. It was when he asked the question that Oliver realized he had not thought of asking that same question. If they knew what was causing it then they could find a solution to it. Maybe, just maybe, he would not have to be ruined after all.“Apparently, you’re a monster and you disrespect women,” Anne announced.Oliver narrowed his eyes at her as if she had said something that made sense to no one in the world.“I remember the reporters outside kept yelling things like that to him,” Jeff added. There was a small frown on his face as he remembered the way they attacked his bo
How was Zara going to save Kelvin? How was she going to arrange the money?Zara stepped out of the hospital. Traces of dried tears were evident on her cheeks. The cold air hit her body and she felt an involuntary shiver run down her spine. She suddenly felt so alone. She felt like she was losing the one person who had always been with her through the hardships that she had faced. She wanted support. She wanted a shoulder to cry on.Zara did not want to go to her mother or father. She had no idea what condition they were in. They were probably still shaken by what happened to her father earlier that day. If she told them what had happened, it could get her mother sick. The last thing she wanted was another sick person on her.Zara took in a deep breath. Wearing the pity like it was a garment, was not going to help her. She had promised Kelvin that she would find a way to save him. If it meant begging on the streets then she was going to do it.She checked her bank balance on her phone
"So the question is, will you, Zara Lawman, accept to be my fake wife?" Oliver demanded.Zara froze. She felt so many emotions yet she could not identify any of them. Her breathing quickened. She felt her heart begin to pound so loud that she almost went deaf. A solution to her problem had been presented to her but what it required was quite hard. She had to marry another man to save Kelvin. How was Kelvin going to take the news? How was she going to live with herself?Oliver saw the hesitation in her eyes. He did not want to pressure her and at the same time, he did not want to let her go. She looked like the perfect person for the job."You do not have to give me an answer right away. You can go back to the hospital. Have a chat with Kelvin and call me when you make your decision. Is that okay with you?" Oliver asked her.Zara finally felt herself begin to calm. "I think this is a better idea. I should talk to Kelvin first," Zara agreed."Here's my card. You can call me when you ma
