I felt so downcast and dejected. I believed it would be better to leave this world for the one beyond, where there would be no hurt or pain, where I could finally see Gia again. The thought of seeing her brought a faint smile to my lips. Maybe, just maybe, I might even see my father there. I pray he recognizes me.

I would tell him all that I went through at the hands of this cruel world, and he would console me, assuring me that I was finally in a peaceful land far from the wickedness and cruelty that marked this world.

I rose to my feet and weakly covered the distance between the broken glass and I. As soon as I wielded it in my shivering hand, I brought it close to my wrist. I couldn't bear to watch.

Gritting my teeth to endure the pain, I slit my wrist. I slowly became lightheaded, falling to the ground with a thud as I watched blood trickle down from my wrist. I smiled painfully; it was finally over.
