The Light

The flight to Miami was the quickest but longest flight of my life as I was on my toes the whole time.

My stomach was unsettling and I wondered if it was the baby or my anxiety but I went in to use the restroom over six times during a one hour flight.

“Are you alright?” He asked me after my sixth trip to the restroom.

His sudden show of concern caught me by surprise but made me a little less nervous. My lips slowly moved into a small smile.

“Yeah, I'm alright.”

“Good.”

“One more thing,” he continued. “Nobody must know that you're my wife until I say so. You're just one Mrs. Bella Rivera, the founder of Versa Link group of companies.”

“Do you understand?”

I nodded in agreement.

As he turned away, my mind drifted back to last night's encounter with the strange old woman in my bedroom.

She was on a wheelchair, hiding in my walk-in closet and she rolled out as she spoke.

“Who are you?” I had asked her, awestruck. “How did you get in here?”

“Don't be afraid, dear. I won't hurt you. I'
