9. The Brewed Morning

Alda opened her eyes to a new morning, not in her usual home trailer and the disturbing honk of the passing cars, but in a beautiful mansion she had never seen before.

She blinked a few times to adjust her vision and take in the grandeur of her surroundings. The room she was in was spacious and elegantly furnished, with large windows that let in the warm golden light of the early morning sun.

As she sat up in bed, she noticed a tray of freshly brewed coffee and a plate of freshly baked pastries on a nearby table. The aroma of the coffee and the sweet scent of the pastries enticed her, and she could not resist reaching out for a sip and a bite.

Just as sipped, and she took a bite, Alda felt a bit of sadness in her. This was because, in all of her twenty-two years of existence, this was the first time she tasted a better-brewed coffee and better pastries. Anything she has eaten in the past which they called coffee and pastries was nothing better but burnt coffee and dry crumbs.
