CHAPTER 104

GLENN

Everything happened even before I could stop it, at the first Instance my first instincts had been to run but there again the whole situation. proved critical.

If anyone had ever said I would be this scared about the situation I would have argued but at the moment it was exactly case—

It all started shortly after he left, my moment of silence and having time alone to myself had been interrupted by Anna's call.

As usual she had called to know how the dinner had gone and I was quite expressive with my description of the exclusive evening.

We were still on the call when I heard a knock at my door , on any normal day I would have taken precaution of the entire situation but as it was it seemed far fetched from what I would have normally done —

"Give me a minute."

"Oh, Santi is back… " she made a humming sound that made me laugh.

" You are just naughty. " I shook my head as a knock filled the room again.

I grinned. "A minute."

To my surprise I didn't see anyone, instead I met a parcel on the floor and the person my mind had gone to was Santi.

The parcel was wrapped in my favorite color and as if that was not enough there was something about it that was explicit.

"You won't believe this girl, but Santi just sent a gift. " I muttered.

I was basking with a smile when I took the box in. The whole situation played at the back of my mind as I tried to guess what was in the box that proved to be lighter than I expected.

"What is in it?" Anna asked.

A smile formed on my face as I was left in the dark, I continued working a way to Open the box While still filling her in.

She made meaningful guesses of what it was about but by the time I opened we were all wrong.

I stood there in shock as a note fell to the ground, apparently it was the only thing that had been in the box.

"This is awkward." I muttered loudly.

For some reason everything felt quiet as I picked up the note, all I could hear was my own heart's and the buzzing sound from Anna's end

"What is in it?." She questioned.

"A note."

"A note?" She grimaced. "What does it say?"

I lost words as I stared hard at the note as a matter of fact it fell right from my hands as it trembled.

"Get here as fast as you can Anna.,"

Immediately, I dropped the call. My first notion was to call Santiago, he looked shocked hearing what I Said and I was about to tell him the content of the note when my phone went off.

I plugged my phone quickly and made way back to the note, I read through the three words again and tried decrypting what it was:

We are watching —

I tried sniffing the box for any scent but whoever it was did a perfect job..

Not wanting to Stay at home any longer I got a bag and packed some view things. I could imagine whoever it was breaking through the door and the more I thought about it, the more I cringed at the idea.

Soon,I stood in the doorway of my apartment waiting for Anna with a bag hanging from my shoulder.

As soon as she had pulled into the apartment driveway and was paying off the cab man I had raced toward where she was and hugged her tightly, i had to say that i had never Been scared of anything as I was at that moment.

Anna on the other hand had hopped out of the car and came straight toward where I was, we met halfway.

I had already been humiliated enough by the entire incident and it was starting to live rent free on my head. At that moment I wanted to be saved or have the matter buried In my head, I just wanted to forget about it and put it behind me. But I couldn’t do that because the words in the letter were burnt right in my memory brutally.

It was left there in such a way that there would always be remains—and possibly a scar reminding me about the whole situation.

My throat tightened as we both walked in, set my bag down and I faced her as she gave me her listening ears.

I crossed my arms. " I got this in the box." I muttered before walking down to the table where the box had to remain.

At that moment, my back tingles in awareness, as her gaze coasted above the paper , apparently, she had the same expression as well.

"What are you going to do?" She asked.

*******

Indecision twisted so violently in my stomach as I stood there still shell shocked, each moment felt like I might be sick. At the next moment if I felt like throwing up.

Recently it had been looking more and more likely that Anna might be right about the pregnancy but I was too scared to believe it for some reason.

At the moment I did the only thing that was best for me to do, I tried all I could to ignore the feeling that looked to be Killing me deep down.

I didn’t know what to do, who to listen to. Why was this happening to me? Who had

written the note . . .

All this question filled my mind and at the moment as I seeked a way out, with her gaze flicking to me, my eyes were dark around the edges as I returned her gaze.

Awareness ran through me as I noticed that she said nothing, though she didn’t have to as this was my decision to deal with anyways.

It felt like the most vulnerable thing I’d ever do Infront of anyone —I cried.

The fact that all of this feeling was consuming me slowly and there was nothing I could do about it sent a throb to my chest.

Her hand's grew clammy as she read the letter again… Her breaths grew short.

"It is enough." She tries comforting me.

" Have you spoken to him about it? "

She had barely Said his name when the phone rang…

A tug deep in my stomach pulled me in the direction of the phone as my heart grew cold and empty with the small step I’d taken.

As I hesitated, the tension hung over my head like a formidable cloud unwilling to depart. I could feel the tension as It was strong enough to burn my skin.

I sucked in a shallow breath as I picked the call—

"Hello?" His voice sounded a bit out of sorts as it shook heavily.

"My phone went off the other time."

He let out a breath that looked like he had been keeping everything in—

"I was fucking worried, I would be there soon."

We took a cup of coffee to my room and waited for him to arrive. When I got a text saying he was waiting out front, I hopped up and headed

downstairs, with Anna behind me—

It’d been a good one hour since the incident

but I couldn’t stay here for another second, without thinking about something going wrong.

I found a piece of paper and wrote a quick note to Mr. Otiz tucking it under his door that I would be away for some few days

An awareness itched in a corner of my mind as we walked to the car, My heart beat with uncertainty as I hopped into the seat close to him as Anna climbed into the passenger seat.

We drove in silence. I had given him all the details about how everything had gone and he thought the best option was to go to the police.

"Not today" , I answered as he drove out of the apartment.
