“I’ve gotten word that the Q-Queen has arrived earlier than expected. S-She requests the head of the Gamma!”

Kain’s breath stopped in an instant and his eyes went wide like saucers. The air became ominous and a cold shiver wracked Denise’s spine.

“Fuck. Fuck. FUCK!” Kain’s fist curled at his side and he launched it into the wall, crushing the spot from the force. The framed paintings hanging there fell to the floor, breaking at his feet.

Denise picked at her thumb, her heart drumming for all to hear. The Queen was one more person added to the long list of people who wanted her dead. But unlike the rest, the royal family was not a force to contend with. No one disobeyed their orders…not even Kain.

Her gaze darted to Kain, drinking in the murderous expression on his face. His eyes had gone golden and his face had reddened with annoyance, mighty veins rising on the skin of his arms. His hand lifted, fingers raking through the strands atop his head. He glanced out the open door then loo
