11: Poppy's Call

Everette gave me a blank look. “How do you pay me? How can your family pay me?” he asked. “Mom was always against it from the beginning. But I still pushed through the wedding.”

The question was why? Why was he persistent in marrying me?

I would not call it obsession. Everette Watson was never obsessed with me. It was something else which I could not pinpoint.

“You don't have the answer? I knew it.”

“You ask how could I pay you?” Shrugging off and starting digging the foods on the table, I muttered, “I will find someone who is richer than you. Maybe open another account in Swiped and—”

A low growl escaped his lips. “There will be no divorce in this marriage. You will stay with me until I get tired of you. Until I will dispose of you,” he said, cutting off my words.

So, the only thing that I could do was do anything that would make him divorce me.

“You will get tired of me.” I will make sure of it and then I will toss him away. I would be free.
