I stared blank at the air.
I couldn’t believe what had just happened.
Liam had just kissed me which was shocking. As his soft lips landed on mine, I heard shuttering sounds of the camera. The press were so going to make a news of this.
Oh, no!
What have I done?!
I slowly tried to withdraw from the kiss so I wouldn’t cause unusual attention, but his hands caressed my chin side slowly. My lips were slightly parted in a gasp. I couldn’t erase the fact that he tasted amazing.
Before I couldn’t help myself again, I immediately withdrew from the kiss with so much force. I looked confusingly around me. The paparazzi were still fluttering their cameras. Not having any idea of what to do, I ran swiftly from them all.
Kicking my legs so fast, I did that, making sure I was out of sight. I didn’t want to hear fluttering sounds, didn’t need those poke nosing paparazzi in my everyday life either.
I heard the breeze ooze in my ear as I was running. It was almost as if I was being chased by someone. I didn’t even stop when one of my shoes slipped from my legs.
Once I saw I had been out of their site, I stopped at my tracks. It was then I began walking to nowhere in particular. In fact, I was beyond shocked. That crazy billionaire had just stolen my first kiss. I mean, he didn’t even deserve it.
Why did he kiss me?
Was it because the press asked him too?
Or he just wanted to taunt me…
As I walked, my hands moved to my mouth. I still couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that my enemy; Liam James had just kissed me without my consent.
And, like a coward, I ran away.
Oh dumb, Eleanor.
You just had to run.
That was dumb.
Those were my thoughts as I walked down the street. Soon, I heard a mighty thunder striking. Just that instant, rain started falling so loud. I looked around, knowing that I had to get to the bus stop to go home.
“Kill me.” I thought immediately.
I wasn’t surprised. I was a victim of various things. This was why I wasn’t surprised that rain decided to fall right now.
My clothes were immediately drenched that minute. I walked, leaping on one leg to the bus stop. Water soaked through my hair already. It dripped down as I made every step forward. Harsh droplets of rain beat my face as I walked too.
My feet was numb by the time I had gotten to the bus stop. There was no bus there, thus I sat on the wooden seat in the bus stop. There were people around the shades but it was already occupied. Going there wasn’t going to benefit me.
It was a while since I had been waiting for the bus but nothing came.
“Damn no!” I let out, at the thought of my phone.
Dipping my hands into my pocket, I brought out my phone. Behold, my phone was already drenched with the rain water that dripped from heaven. Oh, heavenly no.
No.
No.
No.
I felt my heart burn at that, that instant.
I looked up the sky.
“Dear God, why do you choose to do this to me?” I asked impatiently, at the sight of my damp phone. I tried to switch it on but it won’t come on.
I remembered how I had purchased this phone. I had to work about 5 different part time jobs to acquire it.
By the time I had gotten it, mum ordered me to quit the multiple part times and look for a real job because it was making my health fail. I did that after her numerous scolding and warnings.
Just when I thought the rain stop would stop, it became heavier. The droplets hit my back so quick. For a moment, I thought I was going to have an injury from the painful drops.
Screw me.
Screw the bus for not arriving here on time.
Screw Liam James for kissing me!
I thought.
A rumbling sound brought me out of my deep thinking. I saw a white motorcycle stopping in front of me. This made me look ahead to wherever it was coming from.
Jackson.
I thought.
He rode directly in front of me, still on the motorcycle.
“What are you waiting for, sugar plum? Get on.” He said, removing the full shield of his helmet, so I see his face. I fidgeted with my hands debating whether I should get on or not. He had helped me before.
Won’t it mean another thing if I let him help me again? Mum always told me that when a man was constantly helping you, he needed something in return.
And…“Sheesh, why do you overthink? Just get on.” He said, staring at me in a surprising manner.
“N-No, it’s ok. I’m perfectly fine.” I said, still sitting stubbornly on the seat.
“You don’t look fine, sugar plum. You are drenched like a puppy. Imagine what would happen if you catch a cold tomorrow.” He gushed out, scratching his neck. My eyes directed to his blonde hair. I could see glimpses of it outside.
“That’s not your business. Besides I don’t want to owe you again. I already owe you once.” I said, looking the other way and hoping he would drive off. But, he did the exact opposite.
“Ok, it you won’t accept my offer. I wish to seat with you in the rain.” He said. My mouth moved in awe as he got off from his bike. He strode towards me, sitting down just by my side.
“W-What are you doing? Don’t join me in this bad state?” I told him, hoping he would scurry off. Jackson stretched his leg, watching me with amazement written on his face.
“Is this a bad state? But you said you were perfectly fine earlier?” he asked, cockily arching a brow.
Now I was getting frustrated. He reminded me of one of my favorite characters. It was like he knew how to manoeuver his way through things.
“What do you want from me exactly?” I asked him, using mum’s theory of guys.
“Want? Consider me as a friend trying to help.” He said, getting up. My eyes directed to his outfit. He was definitely from a middle class background like mine, judging from how he dressed. And, for all I knew, middle class people weren’t rude.
Thus, I decided…
“Fine.” I muttered. He sat on his bike the moment I said that word.
“Hold on tight, sugar plum.” He said, as I got on his bike. A sense of déjà vu hit me as I did that. My nose immediately noticed how cool his cologne smelled. If anything, this wasn’t bad after all.
I thought.
….
“I hate him so much, Chloe. With all my heart and soul. In fact, with every fiber in me.” I seethed. I had gone to her house for refuge after the paparazzi and kiss incident. Next, I narrated to her everything that had happened.
And, off course how outraged I had felt.
“So much hate for one person? I won’t be surprised if you end up falling for this guy.” She told me, fixing her nails with a manicure stick. I growled at what she said.
“What?” she asked me.
“I will never admire or fall for someone as arrogant and cocky as him.” I said, facing her sternly. I hated Liam so much. He had this rich vibe that irked me. He gave me a sick feeling and by her telling me I would fall for him, she wasn’t helping matters at all.
“Then promise me you won’t fall for him.” She said.
“Suck my foot. That guy is a douchebag.” I retorted.
“Ok, let’s make a bet.” She said, coming forth to where I was sitting.
“What bet?” I asked, furrowing my brow.
“That you would never fall for an egoistical bastard like Liam James. If you do, you get to do anything I ask. But, if you don’t, I get to do anything you ask.” She said, with some courage.
I mouthed the words without even thinking.
“Yeah, deal. My heart is locked away from that idiot for sure.” I said.

At first, I didn’t understand what was going on when Jojo entered. It was just like a blank sheet was right in front of me. But, when I saw the designer pointing to what she was putting on, I knew that something was wrong.“That… That is the dress.” She said. Her face held a look of fear. I could read that she was definitely afraid of Jojo. Not today, bitch.I thought.
I had met millions of jerks in my life. But none of them could be compared to Liam James. I mean, what a great audacity he had. Just as I took my clothes, I got out of his house before the word Mary Celeste. Date?I won’t ever go on a date with Liam, my worst enemy.
As I strode out of my house, I saw a black van parked just by the side. I admired it before moving to go. At that exact moment, someone came down from the car. It was a young man. He surprisingly made his way towards me.“Good morning, Miss Nikki.” He said, bowing down to me. My eyes moved in total shock that instant.“Yeah, good morning. May I help you?” I asked suspiciously. I mean what if Liam sent one of his men again to bring me?My phone immediately rung that instant. I looked on the receiver before picking it. It was Margaret, my manager.“Hello,” I called out.“Good morning, Miss Nikki.” She said.“Yeah, morning.” I said, still looking at the young man in front of me.“I’m really sorry it took long. That young man is now your personal driver. He has been assigned by the company to take you wherever you’re going,” She said. My eye brow furrowed on the spot. What?“Yeah, but is th
I couldn’t just believe what I had just heard him say. He wanted me to act like I was his girlfriend. How outrageous! I knew acting like I was his girlfriend meant him kissing me in public and both of us being lovey-dovey. That was something I wasn’t good at.We were bound to fail.Knowing this, I scoffed out loud.“Never! I’m announcing the break up now!” I told him immediately. I spared him one more heated glare before I begun to stomp out of his office.“I will help you with your mum.” He said. That stopped me in my tracks. My eyes narrowed at that exact moment. I didn’t talk to anyone except from Chloe about my mum’s condition of dyslexia and frequent memory loss. So, how did he know? I had given my advance pay from Pink Moda to the doctors to operate on mum. But they said they wouldn’t start until the full payment had been made.“Have you been spying on me, Liam? How did you know about my mum?
Liam’s PovThere was something about red that made me want to stay. Even though she wanted me to leave her sight, I felt this attraction to her. That was why I couldn’t help but try to make conversations with her, even though I never was the type to make long conversations with anyone.Pretty.She wasn’t pretty.Red had a type of beauty that really stood out from a multitude. This was why I wasn’t surprised when that famous magazine listed her all because of her smile. That was sincere. I had seen her laugh with people from the company a few times. But she just never seemed to smile when she was around me.Although, I don’t blame her. I blame me for being so arrogant the first day we had met on the road. I was raised in as a billionaire and I had met people who were so greedy for money. This was why I had assumed that the cause of her yelling at me was money. But she amazed me
EleanorI had taken mum back to the hospital to have the worthy treatment she deserved. Since I accepted the agreement with Liam James, he sent the agreed amount to me later in the day. I felt really grateful for that gesture, not until I remembered that he was doing it for something in return; me acting as his fake girlfriend.Although, the good thing was that mum would soon be well. You see, I really hated seeing her in that state. At times, she even forgot who I was. Her frequent memory loss was really doing a great damage on her. Daily, she was becoming a stranger to me.Today, I went to work in a plain brown dress. It was a piece mum had given me, so I wore it to feel her presence around me. The moment I had gotten down from the car, a lot of paparazzi surrounded me that instant. My face was welcomed with their cameras as they flashed their evil lights on me.“Miss Nikki, Miss Nikki.” T
I woke up this morning with a sad feeling all locked up in my chest today. Mum was at the hospital. The doctor told me she would be admitted there until it was time for her surgery. And, thinking of the events that happened yesterday, I felt so dumb.It was all of a sudden Jackson’s face popped in my head. I saw his retreating figure on the roof top yesterday. My brain rebooted all that had happened just yesterday. I sprung up like a wild cat, running to the drawer. I opened it and sighted the white and pretty handkerchief he had told me to keep. Just at the sides of it was two initials I read out:“J.J.” I furrowed my brows, wondering what they actually stood for. J was definitely for Jackson, but what did the other J stand for?I thought, staring at the piece so adorably.I placed the handkerchief in between my nasal openings. They scented exactly like Jackson which was pleasing and drawing to the senses.I returned the napkin to the part o
