I put my bookbag on my back as I left the house getting into Mika's car.

I dabbed a wet wipe on my busted lip, wincing from pain as it was slightly bleeding.

"Good morning," I mumble to her moodily as I pull down the sun visor to continue cleaning my newly busted lip.

"Hey," she says before glancing at me and sighing, "What happened?" She asks

"He came home drunk and he threw the empty bottle at me," I tell her as she dabs the cut on my forehead as well

"Don't you think you should go to the police," she asks as she puts the car in gear and begins to pull off from the sidewalk.

"Yeah, but I don't want him to get in trouble," I mumble to her softly

"So pure, once you find your mate, I bet he'll hang your father," she giggles

A giggle leaves my lips, "I'm human, it would be like a 1 out of 10 million chance that I would have a mate as a mythical creature," I roll my eyes at her ignorance

I was one of the few humans on the Earth who knew mythical and supernatural creatures existed.

They live amongst us, go to school with us, do activities with us. You encounter them every day in your life, without even knowing.

"Oh, what if it's an Angel, or a devil, or an Alpha," she gushes

"Oh, or maybe the Grim Reaper," I sarcastically respond, shaking my head

"I mean that is possible," she says in a thoughtful tone, her eyes going up as she ponders, "But he's quite antisocial I've heard,"

I just shake my head as a giggle leaves my lips.

We get out of her car as we arrive at our college, "I mean you're gorge and like all of the werewolf population at school are like in love with your scent," she gushes exaggeratedly

"What scent?" My eyebrows scrunched in confusion.

"You have a natural scent of honeysuckle, don't you know? It's the only reason I hang out with you," she says as we chuckle and I elbow her lightly as we enter

"Hey Gabi," Troy said as he smacked my hand before we did our usual handshake with grace and efficiency.

"Hey Troy," I smile back as we finish

Troy is a fallen angel, more known as a devil. He was a guardian angel but interfered when it was his human's time and got his wings stripped.

I was gagging when he told us the story. I just didn't like imagining his wings getting ripped off of him. He is my friend and he's very friendly with everyone and a complete sweetheart. It just doesn't seem right to me.

I heard a collective of people greeting me as my friends and I travelled through the hallways in search of our class.

I opened the door, "Dad I'm-" My words got stuck in my throat as I saw someone dressed in complete black sitting on the couch my father was holding a gun in his hand and there was a hole in the left side of his head.

"Who are you?" I question watching as his head snapped up to me

I saw his golden eyes as he stared back at me. His defined jaw and the little stubble on his chin as he was holding an orb in his hands.

"You can see me?" He asks; his voice is husky and deep, sending a shiver through my body.

"Y-Yeah I can see you," I stutter

"When you look at my face what do you see?" He builds on his questions, rising from the couch

"A human?" it sounded like a question as I answered

He began to take steps towards me as I took steps back until my back hit the wall and I looked at the man standing over me.

His minty breath fanned my face and his smell of coffee hit my nose as I noticed how tall he was.

I stood at 5'3 and he looked to be about 7 feet. He was built and muscular and he looked

I couldn't speak. I was manually breathing. In and out, in and out. I repeated in my head as fear wrapped me in its clutches, "Wh-who..." I struggle to question shivering from the fear of such a confusing being in front of me.

"You are a human?" He continues to question me

I shiver under his hard gaze, looking to bring words out of my mouth. However, I was unsuccessful, settling on a rapid nod of my head.

"This is impossible!" He turned around with a grumble as I ignored the fear surrounding me and took out my phone to dial my best friend's number.

He returned in front of me quickly. Too quick to even describe and grabbed my phone out of my hands, tossing it onto the couch.

"Who are you?" I asked trying to sound sterner, but on the inside, I was like jelly melting under his hard gaze.

"Well hun, in front of you, me this strikingly handsome guy-" he places his hand on his chest, feigning confidence.

"Conceded much?" I ask him boldly, cutting his sentence off and leaving my fear in the dust.

He chuckles deeply causing my heart to clench, uncomfortably.

My father is dead in front of me, a bullet wound to his head and here I am, laughing with a strange, 7-foot man who shouldn't be in my house.

"Well baby, I'm death, nice to meet you,"

I know it was dumb, but I broke into laughter.

"Yeah, and I'm Demeter now get out before I call the cops," I glance back over at my father as he lies in a pool of his blood.

I could feel the bile, bubbling in my gallbladder, but it never threatened to rise. I could feel the tears prickling my eyes, but they never threatened to fall.

Why are the only emotions I feel, in the conditions of the death of my father, directed towards my fear of the man in front of me and not the grief of my father below me?

"No, you have a different glow than Demeter. I mean she's stunning, but you just give off some other glow," he was on the other side of the room looking through the blinds in an instant

He's obviously some sort of mythical creature based on how quickly he moves and his bodily appearance, but why would a God be in my house?

"Oh, you're serious?" I questioned more to myself, "So you're Hades?" I ask him

I saw him tense before in a flash he was back in front of me and right in front of my face, "Do not call me Hades," he told me darkly

My eyebrows furrow, "But isn't that your name? Mika said your name was Hades, not Death," I tell him meekly as I feel my fear closing in on me again, while under his gaze.

His hand grips my jaw tightly as he makes me loom up at his tall figure, "To you, I'm Death. Don't ask questions,"

"OK-" my door suddenly opened and he was gone as Mika entered the house

She saw my dad as he lay dead in a pool of blood before looking at me. I was stunned, so stunned. What had just happened within the last 15 minutes of my life?

"Oh shit, Gabi," she pulled me into a tight hug as she pets my hair as my face was squished in her chest, "You can stay with me- wait, you're not crying," she pulls my head back up

"I'm-I'm not sad," I tell her surprised by my mind and feelings, "At all," I add

"Well you never actually feel pain," she says

"That's a condition, Mika. I feel emotional pain, or I was supposed to," My eyebrows furrow, "I saw him," I whispered

"You saw him? Saw who?" She asks

"Ha-Death I mean," I tell her turning to face her

"You saw him?" She questioned as shock crossed her face, "I knew you were special," she whispers

"I'm not special, Mika, but he was so surprised," I tell her, "And Mika, I can't get over his eyes. They were...beautiful, gorgeous, and golden-"

"Holy shit!" She screams suddenly

"What?" I jumped slightly

"I d-didn't- think- Holy shit," she sighs leaning against the wall, "Come on, let's get you to my place," she tells me

I grab my phone off of the couch calling 911.

"911 what's your emergency?" A female operator asked

"M-m-my, dad. H-h-he shot, through his head," I stutter not even being able to explain surprising myself

"I'm going to have to ask you to calm down sweetie everything will be okay. Can you tell me what your address is hun?" She asks

"3-3-3545 Maple Way, apartment 17," I tell her

"Help we be there soon, sweetie. I'm sorry about your father, hun," she says

"He-he wasn't a-all so awesome," I tell her

"Did you shoot him?" She asks

"N-no, I came home f-from college and he was here," I tell her honestly.

"He was already gone when you got there?" She asks

"Y-y-yes," Mika wrapped her arms around my waist pulling my back against her

I turned around to hug her as we continued talking to the operator, telling her everything we knew.

Eventually, we heard police sirens coming, "I'm going to hang up now, okay?" The lady asks

"Okay," I reply timidly before she hung up

The police soon came in through the door that was slightly open and they had medics rush over to my father as people came to question me and I told them basically what I told the lady on the phone.

"Do you have anywhere to stay?" The female who I had just explained everything to, asked me.

I glance over at Mike waiting for her confirmation before confirming, "Uh, yes," I nod

"Okay, take it easy," she says giving me a sad smile

"Uh, thank you," I tell her shakily before closing the door behind her

Mika helps me pack my things before we get into her car to go to her house.

She shows me to a room with an ensuite bathroom and leaves me there as I put my clothes away.

I stand in the bathroom in front of the mirror and wipe my eyes.

I splash water on my face and sigh. Why can't I feel anything?

"Hey babycakes," I suddenly hear a man's voice ripping me from my thoughts

I turn around quickly trying to find the source of the voice but find no one.

"Yeah, um over here," I hear again from by the counter.

I turn back around to look at the mirror and my eyes widen when Death is staring right back at me, with his golden eyes boring right into mine.

"Uh, hey," I say awkwardly and wave at him from the mirror

He chuckles and my cheeks burn before he reaches through the mirror, grabbing the collar of my shirt as I am lifted off the ground, and through the mirror.

It was too quick to register what was going on. No way this man showed up in my mirror. No way I ENTERED a mirror. What type of backwards planet is this?

I was standing in a room with unfamiliar people, but they all gave off these strong auras and the women were beautiful, glowing even and I mean literally.

"What the actual fuck?" I say
