A new dispensation

Los Angeles .....

2023 ....

Monday Morning

"When do you intend to move this away from here!" Eleanor barked at the maintenance staff, who were lazily lounging around the front entrance.

"This is not a dumping ground, it's a workplace. Clean it up immediately."

Eleanor, had been feeling the heat of the impending arrival of the new boss. She got a message from the CEO of the company, Marshall Wilson.

He wanted his son, Arthur Wilson to take over the affairs of that particular branch.

She was previously personal assistant to Marshall Wilson and now she would automatically be personal Assistant to his son, Arthur.

She knew Arthur had a reputation for being strict, bossy and a perfectionist, and right now she was trying to put everything in place before his arrival.

As she walked past the desks, she barked out commands to the staff.

"Make sure all the files are properly arranged before lunchtime!" She shouted at one employee.

"Clean up your workspace and make it presentable!" She instructed another.

She then turned her attention to the marketing team. "I want all our sales reports updated and presented to me by lunchtime," she ordered.

"We need to impress our new boss with our numbers."

"Yes Ma'am!" They answered simultaneously, they were quite understanding on why she was yelling and aggressive today.

Normally she wasn't quite that! She was open and friendly to all she had this aura of serene calmness around her, suggesting a composed and peaceful demeanor.

Her physical appearance was equally serene and calming, with a gentle face framed by soft, wavy hair that cascaded down her shoulders in chestnut brown waves. Her warm brown eyes sparkled with kindness, and her smile radiated warmth and sincerity. She carried herself with poise and grace, and her easy demeanor made her approachable and easy to talk to.

Overall, her physical appearance complemented her peaceful and amicable nature, creating a presence that was both comforting and welcoming.

"I hope you're ready for your presentation!" She said walking up to another staff in the sales department.

After a few hours, all the head of staff converged at the conference hall, waiting for the arrival of the new boss. They talked in hushed tones, wondering what their new boss would be like. Some were nervous, others excited.

Finally the door went open and they heard confident sounds of a shoe hitting the finely tiled ground.

A wave of silence hit the room as they all turned to look at their new boss.

As he stepped into the room, everyone's eyes were drawn to his commanding presence. He was tall and broad-shouldered and his muscular build hinted at a rigorous fitness routine, he had a chiseled jawline and piercing brown eyes that seemed to scan the room with authority.

His short-cropped brown hair was styled neatly. He wore a perfectly tailored suit that accentuated his muscular frame, and his confident stride suggested that he was comfortable in any situation.

Arthur exuded an aura of sophistication and authority. His polished black leather shoes completed the professional look, announcing his arrival as a man who meant business.

Eleanor slowly stood up from where she sat, jaw dropped. Although she had always heard rumors of him and seen him on magazine, but she has never seen him so up close and personal, she could feel her breath catch in her throat as she took in his perfect features.

"You're drooling!" His voice booed around the room and she quickly comported herself, slightly embarrassed as she stood up straight.

"I'm sorry! Good Afternoon!" She spluttered at her attempt to speak.

He rolled his eyes and gently tucked his hands inside his pocket as he headed towards the center of the room and had his seat there.

"Good Afternoon sir," the other staff greeted and he replied with a curt nod, one anyone would miss if they weren't paying close enough attention.

"So everyone, " Eleanor began as she turned to the staff.

"I know we all know who this is, and if you don't this is our new Boss Arthur Wilson, sir Marshall has decided to handover!"

"So, Please Lydia will you please go first and update Sir Arthur on our income report!"

Lydia nervously stood up from her seat and made her way to the front of the conference room. She felt Arthur's eyes boring into her as she fumbled with her notes, her hands shaking slightly.

She began to speak, her voice unsteady at first. But as she continued, she found her rhythm and her confidence grew. She gave a thorough report on the company's income, laying out the figures and projections with precision.

As she finished speaking, she looked up to see Arthur's eyes still fixed on her. She couldn't read his expression, but she had the sense that he was unimpressed.

"Is that all?" he asked, his voice low and curt.

Lydia felt her confidence falter. She had worked hard on the report, and she had thought it was thorough and accurate.

"Yes sir," she said quietly as she walked back to her seat and gently sat down.

"I'll fill you in on all other things myself!" Eleanor chipped in.

Arthur exhaled deeply as he sat up straight and cleared his throat.

He went on to explain that the real estate company was just one chain in a larger conglomerate, and that he expected the highest level of professionalism and excellence from everyone in the room. He demanded that sales figures improve, customer satisfaction increase, and that everyone work harder and smarter than they ever had before.

"I am here to make some changes, and I expect everyone to follow my lead."

The room was pin drop silent as Arthur spoke. He was strict and to the point, his words laced with an air of arrogance and bossiness.

"I expect nothing but the best from all of you," Arthur said. "If you can't meet my expectations, then you can leave now."

The staff exchanged nervous glances, but nobody dared to speak. Arthur's words had left them feeling intimidated and unsure of what to do.

"That would be all for today!" He concluded and stood up.

"I'll lead you to your office!" Eleanor said as she stood up also quickly, rushed to the door held it out for him and then began to lead him to his office.

"And where is yours?!" Arthur asked immediately they walked into his office.

"Just opposite!" She replied with a small smile and he rolled his eyes, irritated at why she was smiling.

"Are you aware you'll make me coffee every morning?!" He said as he walked towards his desk.

"I'm not inclined to, but if you want, I'll do it!"

"You don't have a choice! I'm commanding as your boss!" He said and she nodded respectfully.

"Yes sir"

"Better!"

"You should know your place here! You're just an ordinary slum resident my dad picked up and refined!" He said and she slowly raised her head and met his eyes, she felt a pang of pain in her chest at his words.

"Why would you say that to me?!" She whispered.

"Go get me my coffee, bring up all important file to me!"

"I want you to come up with a list of properties we can acquire!" he said ignoring what she just said as he took his seat.

"And most importantly, prepare my schedule!"

"And if I don't do all these things you have listed?!"

"Excuse me!," He said blinking his eyes rapidly as he slowly stood up from his seat again.

"You're Excused!" Eleanor retorted.

Arthur's eyes narrowed at Eleanor's bold response. He couldn't believe that this girl, who was just looking so calm, reserved, scared and smitten by him just now had spoken back to him in that manner.

He slowly stood up and walked towards her, she in turn moved a little backwards but he didn't stop until her back hit the wall.

He slowly drew his face closer to hers as he stared at her lips and Eleanor's eyes went tightly shut.

His lips stretched into a small smile as he watched her reaction, he slowly moved his face over her shoulders and whispered,

"Eleanor or whatever it is you're called, you need to understand your position here. You're my assistant, and you're here to do what I say. If you don't want to do it, I can easily find someone else who will. Do you understand that?"

Eleanor eyes slowly flung open immediately and she turned her head to look at him.

"But you won't! Because you need me! I'm certain you won't find anyone as competent!"

"I understand my position, Arthur. But I won't be treated like a servant. If you want me to work for you, you need to treat me with respect. And that means not insulting me or making me feel inferior because of where I come from."

Every human is rumored to have a percentage of beastly behaviors in them, and if anything brought out Eleanor's it would be talking down on her background or parents, they worked their ass off throughout her childhood to make sure she had a better life and they still are, so she would never let anyone trash talk her or her parents.

"I've worked with a thousand of people like you!" Arthur said as he moved away from her and stared down her eyes.

"You start a fire you can't quench, but just know, once this fire fully ignites,"

"You won't be the only one to suffer, your family members will feel the burnt also!" And with that he turned around and walked away to his desk

"So will you listen to me or not?!" He asked again as he took his seat Infront of his desk and looked up at her.

She just stood there staring at him with clenched fists.

"Get me my Coffee Eleanor!!" He repeated.

She passed him one last hard stare before storming out of his office.

"I don't think I can work with someone as rude you, I'm tendering my resignation letter!" She murmured as she stormed out.
