Impossible To Reject You

ALPHA ALEX POV

Thud!

"What's that sound?" I was taken aback by the noise emanating from behind the door. Quickly, I rushed to investigate. A sense of unease filled me.

Oh no, it was Jane. She had fainted!

"Philip! Call Thomas, tell him to wait in the lobby. I'm taking Luna to the hospital!" I called for my betas to inform Jane's personal driver, who was waiting in the downstairs lobby.

I hoped nothing was seriously wrong with Jane. My worry was palpable. I didn't want her to overhear my conversation with Michelle in that room earlier. I didn't want to ruin Jane's special day.

Upon arriving at the hospital, the doctor instructed me to wait outside while they examined Jane.

As I waited, my mind drifted back to a conversation I had with Michelle a few months back.

"Don't worry, I'm sure once you secure the Germany project, your company's troubles will be resolved, Honey," Michelle had reassured me in my office three months ago.

"But I heard that my competition for the project is no ordinary company. Stallone Realty Group – who are they? I've never crossed paths with them before," I squinted. The company wasn't even based in our country; otherwise, I'd have known.

Truthfully, my company had been struggling for the past few months. My overseas colleagues had deceived me, embezzling funds meant for luxury apartment construction without my knowledge. Consequently, I was slapped with lawsuits by apartment owners and forced to spend more money to complete the projects. Instead of profit, I incurred massive losses, plunging my company into turmoil.

"Don't dwell on it. Ignorance can be better than discovery. Remember, I'm here for you, Honey. Besides, I can easily fix your company's problems, as long as..." Michelle's sentence trailed off, a mischievous glint in her eye.

Ah, that girl. I took a deep breath. I understood what she was hinting at. But no, I had to try winning the project on my own before resorting to Michelle's suggestions.

Our relationship was already a mistake. I couldn't perpetuate it any further. I didn't want to hurt Jane more than necessary. I loved her, and our marriage was fine. Jane excelled as a luna, contributing significantly to our pack's growth. She was a remarkable woman.

Meanwhile, I, engrossed in company affairs, had been duped by my own partner. Damn it!

Adding to my misfortune, a few weeks after my conversation with Michelle in my office, the verdict for the project came in. I lost to Stallone Realty Group, signifying imminent bankruptcy.

Curses! Idiot! I was such a failure of a man. I had no right to be an Alpha with this disgraceful track record!

Simultaneously, Michelle appeared at the office to comfort me. She stood by me, easing my shattered spirit. My guard was down, and I failed to use protection during our encounter. And she got what she wanted.

Details escaped me. What I knew for certain was that I was in a state of disarray at that moment, and Michelle's presence managed to alleviate my turmoil. Despite knowing impending bankruptcy loomed, she temporarily quelled my distress.

From that point on, I ceased using protection during my liaisons with Michelle. I sought solace in her repeatedly until she eventually became pregnant. Yes, she was carrying my child.

However, I shouldn't have let Michelle become pregnant. She was just my affair, not my wife. Yet again, Michelle became my savior.

Upon learning of her pregnancy, Michelle promptly persuaded her father to invest in my nearly bankrupt company. In no time, the crisis was averted. However, Michelle's father posed one condition: I had to make her my wife.

"Have a drink first, Honey. Don't worry, Jane will be alright." Michelle's voice brought me back to the present. I had just recalled our conversation, and now she stood before me.

I declined the water bottle she offered. "You better go. I don't want Jane to see you here. She might misunderstand."

Michelle clicked her tongue, visibly irritated by my subtle dismissal. Jealousy was undoubtedly gnawing at her. Yet, more pressing than that was Jane's condition. I was genuinely concerned for her.

"What misunderstanding? We do have a relationship, right? And I'm carrying your child," Michelle asserted.

I averted my gaze. I didn't feel like engaging in this conversation.

"Would you be this concerned if it were me who fainted?" Michelle joined me on the seat beside me.

"Please... Not now. I'm really not in the mood for an argument with you!" Exhaustion weighed heavily; I'd been occupied all day. Preparing Jane's birthday surprise while also attending to other pressing matters outside the office.

"Alright. But remember, Alpha, you need to make a decision soon, or I'll have my father withdraw his investments from your company." Michelle's warning reverberated.

Damn it! All thanks to Stallone Realty Group. If only I had secured the Germany project yesterday, I wouldn't be in this position – bowing to Michelle's whims! Dammit!

Just thinking about it fueled my frustration. I was convinced Stallone Realty Group had used some underhanded methods to win the German project. A new company like them couldn't possibly outshine the established Crawford Holding.

"Oh, and speaking of Stallone Group, my father advised against any dealings with them. You should abandon thoughts of taking them down," Michelle stated before departing.

Shortly after Michelle left, the doctor attending to Jane emerged. I hastened to him, eager for an update on my wife's condition.

"Congratulations, Alpha. Your wife is pregnant; you'll soon be a father." The doctor beamed, extending his hand for a congratulatory shake.

Had I misheard? Jane was carrying my child?

"T-thanks, Doc."

"You're welcome. By the way, I've prescribed prenatal supplements for your wife." He handed me a prescription note.

I accepted it and fetched the medication. Returning to Jane's side, I noticed she had regained consciousness.

"I got some medicine." I displayed the item in my hand, but Jane remained silent, casting an angry glare my way. Perhaps she had overheard my conversation with Michelle.

"Babe, how are you feeling?"

"How dare you even ask about my feelings?" Jane's voice trembled.

I was certain she had heard every word. My conversation with Michelle was no longer a secret.

"I'm sorry, you must've heard everything."

"I don't need apologies from you." Jane's response was curt.

"Fine, now that you know everything, let me explain," I began.

"Save it for another time," Jane interjected.

I fell silent for a moment.

"If you don't want to talk, leave. I need to rest," Jane instructed, anger evident in her tone.

She was furious with me, I could tell.

"She's my ex-girlfriend; she reappeared six months after our marriage. I initially resisted, but due to my company's collaboration with her father's firm, we interacted frequently. Over time, it became difficult to decline her invitations," I recounted the story.

"So, during that severe pain, it wasn't due to the pregnancy program drugs?" Jane raised an eyebrow, her eyes clouded with suspicion. She was referring to the first time Michelle and I had been intimate behind her back.

"Yes, that's why I marked her, to prevent you from enduring such agony again," I admitted. It reminded me of the incident that led Jane to be hospitalized for three days.

"You weren't coerced; you willingly marked her to prevent your affair from being exposed!" Jane's tears began to flow.

"Yes, call it what you want, but I truly didn't intend for this to happen originally. I still love you," I confessed.

Jane's tears intensified. Clutching her chest, she sobbed. It was heartbreaking. But the truth was out, and I had also promised Michelle's father.

"Now that she's pregnant, I can't hide it any longer. I intend to marry her. I hope you'll consider this plan, Babe."

Jane abruptly ceased crying. She locked eyes with me for a moment, her thoughts inscrutable. Hopefully, she could understand my predicament.

"Do as you wish, Alpha. I can't stop you. But promise me one thing," Jane requested.

"Tell me, and I'll do it." Relief washed over me, confident that Jane was beginning to comprehend my circumstances.

"You need to reject me first. I can't accept a third person in our marriage."

What? I was taken aback by her request. Rejecting her was impossible!
