Stepping into the bustling office, I was immediately greeted by the familiar buzz of activity and the warm salutations of my staff but today, none of it seemed to register. My mind was consumed, wholly fixated on Lily. Her image, her presence—it lingered in every corner of my thoughts, refusing to be ignored.

"Morning, Mr Donovan!" called out Sarah, my assistant, with a bright smile as I passed by her desk.

I managed a nod in response, but my attention was already drifting back to Lily. What was she doing right now? Was she thinking about me as much as I was thinking about her? The questions swirled in my mind, taunting me with their elusive answers.

Entering my office, I shut the door behind me, hoping for a moment of solitude to collect my thoughts but even within the confines of my own space, Lily's presence felt palpable, almost tangible. It was maddening, this relentless hold she had over me.
