Dante offered his hand to me, and I looked down at it with new eyes.
I took the offered hand and climbed over the rope. He led me to the dance floor and spun me, pulling me to his chest.
“Wow,” I said. “I see you have some skill.”
He raised his brows and chuckled. “Okay, so maybe you are not as shy as I thought. You speak!”
I rolled my eyes and slapped his chest with a smile. He looked down at the assaulting hand and peered over to my breast. His eyes seemed to glaze over, and I frowned. I was beginning to wonder if he was a bit more hammered than I.
“Like the view?”
He blinked and looked me in the eye. “I’m sorry,” he apologized. “I just really like your outfit.”
“No,” I gasped out sarcastically. “Really? I never got that.”
“Am I that obvious?”
“A tad bit,” I said with a smile. “I mean, I could be wrong, but I knew something was up when you stared at my tits like a nursing infant in need of feeding.”
He laughed out, head falling back. “I am so sorry. I did not mean to be rude.” He looked at me, a large smile splitting his face. “I am not going to lie and say that I am not that kind of guy because – let us be honest here – all guys have that urge. I just try not to be that guy. It just looks really good on you.”
I gave a genuine smile and nodded. “Well thank you for your honesty,” I said. “Would you believe me if I told you that this top came from a pirate costume?”
“Really?” His brows shot to his hair line, shocked by my announcement.
“Really, really!”
“Well, argh matey, you wear it well.”
“Eww,” I laughed out. “You did not just do that!”
“I did,” he said, arms tightening around my waist. “And I got the desired effect of a smile from a pretty girl.”
My face flushed and I bit my lower lip. “Thank you for the compliment.”
As the beat changed up, I turned around and pressed my back to his chest. His hands went to my hips and traveled up the sides of my body. He wrapped my arms around his neck, and I laid my head back on his shoulder. He leaned his head down, placing his nose in the nape of my neck. I could feel him breathing me in. I sighed, the tickling sensation sending my nerves awry.
“You smell amazing,” he whispered into my ear before kissing down my neck.
“Oh boy,” I moaned. “If you keep complimenting me like this we might run into some trouble.”
“I like trouble,” he said.
“No... you are trouble.”
We both laughed as he pressed harder into me. He wrapped his arms around my torso and grinded his hard on into my backside.
In all honesty, I did not mind at first. It almost felt nice. Almost. The way his hands ran over my body with the heat of him pressed against mine. The kisses he placed on the skin of my neck and exposed shoulders... It all made me feel... wanted. It was something I never felt before.
But like I said, it almost felt right in the beginning. I was not sure what it was, but something did feel... off. It did not take long for the sailing ship to hit a big ass iceberg and sink.
“You know,” he began “normally I would not go for chubby chicks. But in your case, I love the extra meat on the bones.”
I froze. My eyes snapped open. What the actual fuck?
“Wh-what did you say?”
“I mean – God – you have all the right curves in all the right places. Who cares about the love handles? You know why they call them that, right?”
I pulled away from him and stared the idiot in his eyes.
“You’re joking right,” I said, flabbergasted. “Even if you are - and I really hope that you are – this shit isn’t funny!”
“What’s wrong,” he asked, truly at a loss of what was going on. “I thought we were having a good time.”
As he stepped closer, I shoved him away. I cannot believe that this is really happening.
“You are a disgusting pig.”
“C’mon! What did I say?”
“Just when I started to have a wonderful time with you, and then you decided to be a dumbass. Why would you even say that? What, the hell, is wrong with you?”
“I thought women loved getting compliments on their weight!”
“Who told you that bullshit,” I exclaimed. “And you call that a compliment?” I threw my hands up, completely astonished. What a way to sober up a girl...
“You know what?”
“Do you,” I yelled.
“Whatever! I do not need this. I can get any bitch in here. Hell! I wanted the red head anyway. She is hotter!”
I raised my hand and back handed him across the face. His head snapped to the side so hard, I almost worried that I might have given him whiplash. Almost. He looked at me and touched his lip. Pulling back his hand, we both noticed the touch of blood that was there.
“You, fucking, bitch,” he growled. He started towards me, and I took a few steps back. I bumped into something hard behind me. When Dante came towards me with his hand raised, I turned and raised my arms, expecting the back lash.
“You weren’t thinking of hitting this woman, were you?”
I blinked. I opened my eyes and looked in front of me. Dante was looking over me.
“She busted my lip.”
“And you insulted her, embarrassing her in front of many strangers,” spoke a dark and husky voice. “I’d say you are even.”
Dante looked down at me and snorted. He waved me off and walked away through the crowd of people. Slowly I turned around, tilting my head back.
Ambers.
Ambers. It was the man from the banister on the top floor! “Are you alright?” “I-I...” I could not speak. From a distance I could not see all his features but up close... the man was devastatingly gorgeous. I spun around to face him fully since I only craned my neck. He was tall with a strong and broad structure. He had long dark hair that passed his shoulders. He had two scars on his face, one on his left brow and the other on the right curve of his chin cutting through his perfectly groomed beard to the bottom of his jaw. He wore a black button down with the top two buttons undone and his sleeves expertly rolled up to his elbows. The skin of his exposed arms and chest were blessed with beautifully intricate tattoos. The way he stared down at me, in all his glory, sent shivers down my spine. It reminded me of the striking gaze of a wild wolf on the prowl. There are only two words I would use to sum up and describe this man. Sexy and dangerous. And the two words I would u
“Your hands, what happened to them?” “I busted them while working.” “What were you working on?” A project for a hobby of mine.” “What kind of hobby?” His eyes landed on me, hard and a bit annoyed. Though there were music blaring and people living loudly amongst us, there was silence between us. I could tell that he was not used to the interrogation I was performing on him. He tilted his head to the side and sat back in his seat. “Murder.” My heart skipped a few beats. He said it without any hesitation. His face was as straight as a bee’s line. Gazing into his amber eyes, I narrowed my own. There was no indication that he was lying but I knew the truth. Flirting with a girl, there was no chance a man would admit to murderous hobbies, right? I intwined my fingers together and placed my elbows on the table, resting my chin on the bridge my hands created. I smiled at him, giggling and he smirked at me once more. My fits of giggles turned into full-blown laughter thanks t
Slowly sucking in air, I released a muffled sigh. I was warm but slightly uncomfortable. My eyes groggily opened to reveal the sight of a headboard. It was a cushioned upholstered headboard with a diamond tufting and traditional camelback shape made with a black denim like material. It was a nice headboard, but it was not my headboard. How peculiar... My heavy eyes blinked as I moved my arms from under the pillow that cushioned my head rather gently. Despite me sleeping atop it, the pillow was cool. It must have been one of those expensive cooling pillows. A line of drool had trickled down my jaw line during my slumber, so I slowly wiped it off. Odd. I only drool in my sleep if I have been knocked out cold by those drowsy cold medicines while being sick. I stretched my hands towards the board and released a small whine. Everything hurt. My mouth was dry and tasted horrible. My limbs felt heavy and extremely sluggish. My muscles ached as if I trained for the Olympics without pr
I could only imagine what I looked like. I had no idea how to attempt a walk of shame. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and saw that I had a few notifications. Some were just random things like social media, emails, and app reminders. I took notice of the texts and calls from Mel as I entered the elevator. She called me twice and texted me a few more times than that. She assured me that she made it to shelter fine. She told me that she and Chris went to his place and drank even more. There were some illegible texts that I could not translate proving just
He was in such a horrid mood that evening. Having to lose a close ally, putting an end to an idiot, and dealing with the riff raff of subordinate groups who could not hold a candle to his organization, he was far from in the mood to be in his club. But when he saw her, that all changed. He leaned over the railing to the executive area of his club and stared down at the crowd enjoying themselves. At first, he was staring blindly at the dance floor. He only needed a moment to clear his head before leaving for the evening. But the sensual movements of maroon caught his eye. And he caught hers a
A Month Later The sound of silence. It is my favorite. And within a dark room? Immaculate. A dark and silent room is my preferred environment. It is all I must picture to reach a certain level of concentration. If I can image an environment like that and block everything else out… I am sure there is nothing I cannot accomplish. My fingers dance across the velvet keys. My heart swelled as I leaned forward, lips kissing the vibrating waves of sound floating ind
I walked a few blocks, avoiding eye contact with all the other people. It was a particularly chilly evening. The sun was shining its last rays of the day upon the city. I pulled my jacket tighter around me and zipped the zipper all the way up to my chin. I threw my hood over my head and folded my arms, pulling the ends of my sleeves over my fingertips. I was on my way to work as a server at one of the best restaurants in the city. Questione di Gusti, an Italian restaurant that is very high-end and expensive. It was one of those Michelin Star restaurants that many celebrities and rich people frequent. The cost of dinner for one can cover a
Mr. Simmons instructed me on everything that I needed to know and everything that I needed to do. I was to be the only one to travel in and out of the room. Since the owner’s importance, he had a security detail that always stayed by the door. I had to formally introduce myself to the room and alert them that I would be the only one catering to the that evening. The meeting was going to be held for the full duration of my shift. When I went away for a break, Mr. Simmons would take over for me. I had to prepare the room for the party that had yet to show. It did not take much to get the room ready. Now, I was just waiting. I have been waiting fo
