Chapter 4-be bewitched

Natash's POV

For the first time, I tasted the flavor of a secret crush.

My previous relationships had been nothing more than youthful adventures.

When Jaclyn Dills first approached me, the pounding of my heart, the silly way I stared at him, the sensation of my entire body heating up, and the way my mind went blank repeatedly reminded me that I had feelings for this man.

If the two of us hadn't had any further interactions, perhaps my secret crush wouldn't have lasted very long. However, fate had a playful twist in store for us.

That's why they say destiny is a decisive factor in the relationships between men and women, capable of guiding the twists and turns of a lifetime. In just a few days, I saw Jaclyn Dills at my home.

It was then that I learned that Jaclyn Dills' father was my father's former boss and a well-known elder in the pack.

Jaclyn Dills' mother was an opera enthusiast and often attended performances by my stepmother, Linda.

Over the years, our two families had maintained connections, neither too close nor too distant.

Jaclyn Dills clearly didn't recognize me. In the daylight, he was even more beautiful, his beauty almost blinding.

Standing beside him, I couldn't help but feel inadequate. I also unexpectedly discovered that Jaclyn Dills shared the same warmth as my stepmother.

She was a genuinely warm person. She could strike up conversations with Mrs. Dills and had the strategy to introduce her own sister to Jaclyn Dills.

Linda was very young, with her youngest sister being only as old as Jaclyn Dills. Her goal was clear: she wanted her sister to be associated with the prominent Dills family within the pack.

Linda couldn't become the pack's Luna herself because her wolf wasn't the prized white wolf. However, her sister had the potential to do so.

If she could capture the heart of Jaclyn Dills, the future alpha of the pack, she could secure a significant position for her sister in the largest Red Valley pack.

Linda's sister was exceptionally talented, studying journalism at a renowned university and possessed striking beauty that outshone even me.

Unfortunately, Jaclyn Dills had a plethora of beautiful women around him, and Linda's sister's beauty didn't catch his eye. Even the moon goddess didn't seem to favor her.

Linda's matchmaking attempt failed, but it inadvertently spurred me.

I suddenly became aware of the gap between Jaclyn Dills and me, a gap that I wanted to bridge. At that time, I never considered marrying Jaclyn Dills;

I just wanted to shorten the distance between us, even if only slightly. After all, the thoughts of a teenage girl in love are often hard to understand.

My wolf, it seemed, had become entranced, as every day it would revisit the scent of the daisies.

This profound and unforgettable secret crush transformed me back into a diligent and model student.

When I graduated from high school, I successfully entered a prestigious university.

The ringing of my phone snapped me out of my distant memories.

I gently turned my somewhat stiff neck and realized that I had been staring at him for so long. During this time, he remained standing by the window, engrossed in his phone call.

My gaze darkened as I observed how busy he always was.

Even during our initial days of marriage, it was normal for us to go days without seeing each other.

I reached into my bag to retrieve my phone, and the task was slightly challenging with one arm connected to an IV bag.

Just as I was about to use my other hand to help, a large hand stopped me.

I looked up to see Jaclyn Dills furrowing his brows while taking my phone from my bag and handing it to me.

"Thank you," I said softly, my voice somewhat low, but it resonated clearly in the spacious infusion room.

I glanced at the screen and hesitated for a moment.

My hesitation puzzled Jaclyn Dills, and his gaze briefly scanned the screen before I rapidly pressed the reject button.

He raised an eyebrow, asking, "Who was calling that you didn't want to answer?"

As he spoke, my phone started ringing again.

Before I could hang up, Jaclyn Dills had already taken my phone from me. He glanced at the screen, but I was quicker in rejecting the call.

Jaclyn Dills raised an eyebrow and asked, "Who's calling you?"

As my phone began to ring once more, I didn't have time to reject the call, and it ended up in Jaclyn Dills' hand.

He stared at me, puzzled, and pressed the answer button.

"Hello, who's calling?" The caller's voice played busy tones through the phone.

I grabbed the phone back from Jaclyn Dills, flustered, and stammered, "It's just a call from... whatever. It doesn't matter."

I avoided eye contact with Jaclyn Dills, who had observed my nervousness throughout the situation.

Suddenly, his long fingers caught my chin and raised my head, making me slightly anxious. I quickly glanced at his eyes, blinked, and then lowered my eyelids, an evasive gesture that was reminiscent of the past.

Jaclyn Dills realized that the Luna he remembered as timid and easily frightened could display such vibrant expressions.

When I was feeling guilty or told lies, my eyelashes would flutter.

When I was comfortable and wanted something, I would softly whine, and it was a tactic that could have him wrapped around my finger.

His gaze, dark and intense, swept over my slightly flushed cheeks and settled on my lips, which were a soft and delicate shade of pink.

The scent that emanated from them unexpectedly began to captivate his senses.

Without a second thought, Jaclyn Dills leaned in and captured the soft pink of my lips. Following this, his alpha wolf's presence and the long-lost daisy scent returned all at once, pinning me in place.

All of this happened so suddenly, leaving me completely unprepared.

Our lips met in an electrifying connection, as if all the secrets and yearnings we had held for so long had been unveiled. The taste of his kiss was intoxicating, filling my senses with a whirlwind of emotions. I could feel the warmth of his breath against my skin, and his fingers gently cradled my jaw.
