62. With Him

“With pistachios please,” I say politely to the ice cream vendor, trying to ignore the attention I’m getting from a group of young men. My cheeks are flushed, and I move closer to Enrique, feeling self-conscious of the stares.

At the same time, I don’t want him getting mad. If he gets mad, maybe he won’t. I pout.

Do I want him to get mad?
