Chapter 96: Tears and Pain

My breath hitched in my throat when I could no longer see him in the room, and my heart began to race.

Something was wrong.

The bedroom door suddenly opened with a large creak. I shot my head towards it, watching closely to catch a glimpse of whoever was there.

The door slowly opened further and further, until it was sitting against the wall. Still, no one appeared in its frame. I stared at it continually, knowing that eventually, something was going to happen. Doors don't just open on their own.

After a tense minute, I saw a shadow from the hallway approaching the door. I tensed my body, preparing myself for the worst. As they approached, their shadow grew larger until it seemed to stretch across the entire bedroom. When they finally did appear in the doorway, my body and mind stayed tense.

Again, it was Brigit walking through the doorway, with Lucas in tow. Bridgit was carrying a large white box in her hands, walking towards me with it. I wanted so badly to ask what was going on,
