Four months later
Maisie pov
I love Zach, I don't know how that happened, but I just realized that somewhere along the line I have fallen for him. Oh God, I was supposed to know better than to fall for a ghost. I was supposed to know better than to stay with a ghost and I just realized this in my office when my gaze fell upon my picture on my desk, in the picture was my apartment but what people don't see is that Zachery was in that picture.
I remember the day I took that, we were trying to see if I could see him through the lens of a camera so I took a shot and I didn't see him through it but I knew he was there and that is why that picture in on my desk and I am grinning like a lunatic as I look at the picture.
Four months and I am still in the same firm, things have gotten better. I have a group of colleagues that I hang out w
Maisie arrived at her apartment eager to see Zach, she made up her mind while she was in work that it was time they got serious with looking for Zach identity, she had to let him go no matter how much she loved him, that was what true love was all about. Zach needs to know about himself. " what's with the face. " Zach asked the moment he saw Maisie face. " Nothing. " Maisie said but Zach was not convinced. Something was going on with Maisie and she was determined to hide it from him. He could try to find out what it is and he would succeed but he decided to give Maisie the space she was indirectly asking for. " So how was work. " Zach asked. " it is getting weirder. Remember that case I was telling you about, apparently, it is bigger than I expected, and I feel like executives are among. " Maisie tells Zach as Zach nods.&nb
The next day at work Maisie was still feeling down about Zach's girlfriend. She knew better than to hope that while he was alive, he was single and still these thoughts didn't improve her mood. She went through all the motions at work and before she knew it, it was closing time but she wasn't ready to go home yet, so she stayed behind with few of her colleagues as she works on her case. " Maisie can you go and get us some paper from the copying room. " a female lawyer who has always been mean to her said in a sickly-sweet tone. " You are closer to the door. " Maisie replied in a naive tone although she knew what was happening. It always happens in all organizations, where the new employees are treated as if they are lesser by being made to do all sorts of odd jobs and the bulk of paperwork. She would have been stuck under mountains of paperwork if
Okay, when Maisie agreed for Zach to follow her to work, she didn't know what would happen. In her defense, she never knew he would be telling her little snippets about people making her to almost laugh out loud and make others look at her as if she was crazy. And she didn't know that he would be possessive too. Anytime Anthony came close to her, Zach went stiff and she knew that it was a matter of time before Zach would attack Anthony either in a fit of rage or just to make Anthony leave her alone. He was kind of suffocating her by always being in her space and treating her like an invalid. And she knew that she wouldn't even bat an eyelash if Zach chose to step in. Still, Zach has been looking in over her shoulders since they got to her working place and she still didn't feel as if Zach was suffocating her. Maisie shut down that thought as she
Towards the end of the day, Mr. Huggins came to her desk again but this time it was to tell her that a higher-up wants to see her. " God, I am tired. Why can't they let you go? You have a headache injury, they should have forced you to go home at lunch. " Zach complains as Maisie shook her head at him. " I am not the one complaining. You are. " Maisie said. " You need to do the complaining for me since I can't be seen or heard. " " You can go home or sit here and wait for me. I need to go and see what this is about. " Maisie said as she left. Zach sighs as he forced himself to stand and follow Maisie's footsteps. He came to protect her and as much as he wanted to fade into nothing and rest, he knew he couldn't do that. Normally making himself visible for Maisie to see throug
When Zach could control himself, he appeared with his back against the wall. He didn't know what was happening, but he knew that it was not natural, he also knew that he couldn't tell Maisie about it. She already had a lot going on and he didn't want to add this one too and he knew that Maisie will make it take precedence to her other obligations. So, all he needed to do right now was to pretend everything was alright and the first step to that was apologizing for his words the next morning because he knew that Maisie won't leave her room this night.****Maisie came out of her room the next morning and took in the arranged state of the sitting room. Zach followed her to her working place yesterday so that means that he must have tidied up when she was in her room. Without her approval, her lips curved into
Shit! What was he thinking? Zach paced the sitting room in an agitated state. He shouldn't have cuddled with Maisie last night, but he couldn't help himself. At least here didn't do anything extremely stupid like kissing her although he was severely tempted to. He was bad for Maisie, he didn't need his memories to know that. Yet he couldn't help how drawn to her he was. And when they woke up this morning in each other's arms, he knew that he needed to put some boundaries between them. He knew that he had gotten comfortable and he wished that if there was any way he couldn't be alive just so that he would get to know Maisie and be with her, he would take it, no matter the cost it took from him so far, he gets to spend more time with Maisie and explore this connection they have between them, as a human. He would give anyt
Maisie couldn't believe she just blurted out her feelings like that, in that situation. What had she been thinking? That was right, she wasn't thinking. She was feeling and she couldn't put a lid on her emotions, and it came out of her mouth at the most inappropriate time. She breathed as she rested her back on the chair, who cares if it came out the most inappropriate time, Zach will soon disappear from her life forever anyway, it is not like she will live with someone always reminding her of her method of confession. Maisie tried to remove her mind from everything related to Zach as she forced herself to face what was spread on her desk. The charts, which Zach helped her to construct. God! How could she take her mind off him when every dawn thing reminds her of him? Every place she turns to in the office reminds her of when Zach did something either funny or anno
Maisie tried to go home as late as possible but eventually, she had to leave, so she left. She entered her apartment and tried to shut the door as quietly as possible. She was not above sneaking into her bedroom just to avoid Zach. In fact, she was hoping he was already asleep so that she could escape the awkward dumping speech that Zach would give when he sees her. As she tiptoed to her room, Zach switched on the light with an eyebrow raised. " Really? Maisie sneaking in? " " Hey, don't judge the way I chose to enter my home. " Maisie said as she folded her hands across her chest and pinned Zach with a glare as if she had just caught him doing something wrong. " I am not judging you because of the way you are entering, I am judging you for the way you are trying to escape this conversation. " Zach corrected " As if it is any better. " Maisie said with an eye rol
