“Go get me something else!” I yelled at the maid who scurried off.

“Please tell me why you’re shouting at the maid is basically because of the drink and nothing else,” a voice said behind me as I turned to see my best friend, Ava.

I smiled briefly before showing her a seat before me.

“Here is your drink ma’am,” the maid said as I sipped it and liked this one better.

“Good, now go get my friend the same drink,” I ordered to the woman who bowed before scurrying off.

“What’s got you nippy today?” She smiled. “Are you okay?”

“I am not,” I sighed, dropping the cup on the table. “It turns out my…”

I suddenly remembered the threat Sinclair had made as I wondered if telling Ava would be dangerous.

“Come on,” she noticed my hesitation. “You can tell me. It’s not like I’m someone else.”

“Fine,” I sighed. “Sinclair brought a random girl into the palace to be his mate from what I can sense. Can you imagine the effrontery? He could not even respect our bond.”
