Davina
The sun was still up by the time we returned and I pondered continually on Keith’s unusual behaviour earlier. Around the pup, he had been gentle and softspoken, making her feel safe. That was a side to him I had never seen. Another reason it bothered me was seeing him act so homely around pups also meant he might want some of his own. Coincidentally, I would be expected to have this pups with a man I was not fond of.
Keith was facially a more-than-okay male, good looking and had a dangerous edge to his grin that endeared females to him for some reason. I could not deny the fact that I found him attractive too to some extent but it didn’t mean I would be comfortable mating with it. That was a nightmare, just thinking about it. While his back was turned to me, I took it as my cue to leave and change into something less constricting.
“Luna, wait. I would like a word with you.”
His sudden interruption to my much desired exit was unexpected and unwanted. I halted in my tracks and spoke to him over my shoulders. “Do we have to? You know this afternoon changes nothing, right?”
He sighed heavily and shifted on his feet. “I don’t know what you mean by that but what I want to discuss has nothing to do with today’s outing. So would you please sit?”
I searched for the order in his words. If I had found any, I would have defied him and gone up to my room. There was none, just a mild demand and a tired resolve. I stiffened my jaw and walked past him onto my place on the throne, a smaller seat in relation to him. “Fine but make it quick. I would like to take care of a few things before the sun sets.”
Keith nodded absently and came to where I was seated. But instead of sitting on his throne as I expected, he perched on the armrest, wearing an expressionless mien. How many shades of Keith were there? It was no wonder they called him Lucifer. He took whatever form suited the situation to favour his mission. His golden eyes bore into mine and held, waiting for me to break or whatever he intended. I strengthened my resolve to say nothing until he did but I had never been a patient person.
“For Goddess’ sake, Lucifer, what is it? Do you even have anything you want to talk about or is it some ploy to annoy me? Say whatever is on your mind or I am leaving now!”
To add to my fury, I noticed a faint smile tug on his lips. I was amusing to him and he was keeping me for his entertainment. Fuming, I rose to my feet, no longer interested in hearing him out.
“I think it is past time we completed our mating rites.”
Keith’s unwelcome suggestion resounded in my head. It was just as I had feared. One look at an adorable pup and he suddenly wanted one. Well, he was going to want for a very long time.
“I knew it!” I accused, pointing my index finger at him. He lifted an innocent brow but I wasn’t a fool to be deceived easily. “You acted all nice and sweet to that pup to win me over knowing fully well that you wished to bring up this topic later.”
“You are saying nonsense, Luna. I had no secret motive for being nice to Libby; what do you take me for, an ogre?”
An awkward silence descended upon us and a strange sort of guilt pricked me in the gut. I was used to thinking the worse of him and it was nothing different once again. He couldn’t be interested in me for natural reasons, could he?
“Correct me if I’m wrong then. Why else do we need to force intimacy into a relationship that is already choking me?”
He palmed his forehead, drawing a big hand over his face. “As part of the mating rites, we have to actually mate in order to renew our strengths. Without completing the rites, there is no telling what could happen to us. Once should be enough, I guess. We won’t need to repeat it and I will never bother you again.”
Maybe to himself, he might be making sense but to him, he was just making noise. It was a trick obviously. He was horny and wanted to satisfy his lust, using our mating rites as an excuse. I was well aware of werewolf culture and still, it was not enough to convince me to go along with his idea.
A short laugh later, I took a firm pose directly before him to make sure he heard every word I had to say. He leaned back on the armrest that it seemed like we were lying down while standing. A little nudge forward and the gap between us would be closed for good. I crooked my finger at him and he leaned off his support, meeting my body with only our clothes as a barrier.
“I just want this to be clear so that we would never need to talk about this again. I will never and I mean never, share a bed with you. This is my vow and I will live it out no matter what happens. You will never touch this body of mine, now in this life or the next. I forbid you from discussing this with me.”
Keith’s eyes hardened and narrowed with disapproval. “Then get ready to go rabid because without me, you are nothing. Your wolf would slowly recede and you will fade away from heartache. I might experience the same but I am content with my fate.”
“Me too,” I fired back although the way with which he said those words caused fear to creep up my spine. They were cold and full of the truth I was already aware of. He scoffed at my lame attempt to sound brave and pushed past me.
“If Jason gets here, tell him I went running.”
“I am not your handmaid! I do not deliver messages to your odd friends.”
He didn’t respond to my taunt. Rather, he swung his shirt off his head and with one last glare at me, he ran out of the Alpha House, did a somersault in the air and landed on his hind feet, a dark grey wolf standing in his place. If Keith was handsome as a male, he was breathtaking as a werewolf. Fine veins protruded from his leg muscles and my hands shook from the temptation to trail my fingers on the twisted of veins.
What are you thinking about? I chided myself, shaking the thoughts of my head. I stamped out of the throne room, headed for my chambers when I heard the ominous creak of a door. My curiosity had me backpedaling and it was the late Luna’s room. Was someone trespassing in it?
Keith I howled at the emptiness that laid in front of me, though it had little effect on me; my worries were lightened, lot of things had happened since I returned and though I had made a strong decision that nothing would faze me, I was still shaken. Firstly was the overly confident wife I married who's unexpectedly my mate, she reminded me of how much I loved my mother and beyond with the emotions that Sparks within me when I'm in contact with her and there's the whole pack suspiciously monitoring my every move. Everyone seem to be against me, everyone except Jason and Davina though she's posing to be a threat yet she deeply cares about me. My wolf did a little growl at the thought of Davina, I'd definitely take more cold baths as my groin begun to ache, I have a large degree of self-control but my patience juice was running out when it came to Davina. I ached badly for her. The sky began to darken meaning I had to get back home else there would be cause for alarm. I'd apparently
Keith I chuckled mischievously and yawned, sure Davina's eyes was observing my every move, I brushed the space between us, she became defensive almost immediately and held up her fists as they were curled into a ball, I wanted to laugh but I kept a stoic face. There I was in the middle of the room trying to tease my mate. It resounded in my ears that I had better things to do and I was making a mistake but is ignored the voice from within, there was no going back. "I give you two minutes to step away from me." She blew hotly. "Else what?" I dared. She let out a little growl, the glory of her wolf almost seeping out of her skin. "You don't want to know." She said lowly. It was advisable not to push things forward but no matter what happened j could still make her succumb to my wishes, she's been growing wings. I most definitely want a strong woman beside me, one who men would cower in fear under her watchful eyes, my woman would be the female version of me. She would be my Lucy
Davina My instincts told me to retreat but my body disagreed, I found myself moaning softly to his touch. 'This is so wrong.' I muttered but all that came out were soft moans. It was a forbidden passion and I was willing to take the risk, the consequences wouldn't be as fatal as I fear it will. I inches closer to him; giving him full access to my nape, never have I thought I would feel this way or ache for a man's touch but my sense of reasoning was overridden in the first place. I felt my hands shook as the need for them to grab something arose, probably his chest or muscular frame. My thoughts were going wild and they definitely weren't pure. Our little exchange got frenzier as our breathing intensified, his breath was both soothing and hot at the same time. "Mate." His wolf growled. I knew what it meant; dominance and possessiveness and my wolf wasn't inactive. The hunger and thirst to be marked suddenly arose in me. There was a sudden knock on the door but I ignored it, we
Jason "Give me few minutes, I need to cover up." Keith said briefly. "Hmm." I muttered and nodded. He left the door again and disappeared into a room, he resurfaced half the time it takes to boil tea later and headed out, I walked behind him closely and we both walked in silence. "Pay no attention to her." He advised, breaking the silence. "I won't." I assured him. We continued walking, we were headed to nowhere in particular and judging by his look; there was a thousand thought running through his mind. The moon shone on his hair as he takes his fingers through it, revealing his manly looks. I was dazzled by him momentarily, I had to be, his looks were far beyond average and made a name for itself amongst the female. "Rumors have been flying around town." I said. I could hear him sigh, I stole a glance at him and he wore the indifferent look he always wore. "That's no news, I'd been damned if the people are quiet at this point, anything to be wary of?" He said dismissively, sa
Davina A wave of cold breeze brushed past my face as I turned the knob leaving the door agar, Keith's scent filled the room and I almost gagged. It was unusual for a room to smell too much like the owner, I sighed; my mission in mind and with no time to waste, I stared down at my feet as if I haven't seen them before. They definitely have seen better days but they still looked better than most Werewolves I've seen. A wave of nostalgia hit me as I remember Alpha Cullum had once made fun of my feet and called them to tiny to hold my whole weight. I blinked back the tears that formed at the corner of my eye, anytime I remembered him I was prone to crying which is why I've made it my sole core to find out who murdered him. I stood at the door for few minutes, pinpointing what exactly it was that kept me from exploring the room in front of me was confusing, I debated going in which was weird. It was already stated that we are only mates by name hence no one was to invade in the other's
Davina I couldn't believe my ears, Jason brought in a maid without my permission into my house? My blood boiled in anger as it was evident that he had crossed all lines. "That's bastard!" I cursed. "Please Luna, I'll do anything, just save my brother." Kayla begged. I was furious hence I punched the wall, Kayla was scared that she almost fled, I eyed her tenaciously and didn't know what to do with her. "You'd leave the premises immediately and never come back else you'd never live to see the next day." I instructed her. "Thank you." I dismissed her with a wave of my hand but an idea struck in my head, it's a game two can play and using his spies against him would be the sweetest, it was better to keep one's enemies closer than to be impulsive and clueless of their plans. "Wait!" I called her back. She was convinced and stopped dead in her tracks. "Kayla, how old are you?" I asked out of the blues. "Seventeen." She stuttered. "Come back when the day breaks." I said briefly.
“What do you think you are doing?” The words resounded in her brain and it took her quite some time to interpret it. Looking at him with disgust; she replied. “Well, what does it seem like I am doing?” Taking some bold steps closer, he replied with so much anger in his voice. “You don’t get to talk to me like that” Luna could see that he was angry but he was claws were still reclined and his fangs were not out indicating that he was not yet in battle stance; she meant to overpower him with a surprise attack. Suddenly grabbing the fountain pen by her side, she launched forward in an aim to stab in his stomach but he reacted instantly by jumping backwards. The jump gave him enough space to scan his opponent and knew where to get her. She was petite; which was an advantage to her but could also lead to her defeat. In an instant feedback, Keith’s claws came out and lashed at her neck but was immediately blocked by the fountain pen. He wondered how she was so fast. Swinging backwar
Keith "We'll be in touch with you Keith." Toby said. I extended my hand for a handshake and he reciprocated the gesture, we shook hands firmly and he smiled. "Keep your end of the deal Toby, you know how much I loathe betrayals." I reminded him. "Of course, no one dares to double-cross Lucifer." He complimented. I furrowed my eyebrows and narrowed my eyes, his smile faded almost immediately. No one trusts Toby due his reputation but he had something I need. "Don't you dare go back on your words Toby." I warned him sternly. I gestured to Jason and he nodded to show he understood. "We'll leave first." I said dismissively. I threw my hands behind my back and strides away with Jason trailing behind me, the rustle of the dried leaves which crumbles under our sturdy feet broke the eerie silence is that graced the night. "Do you think we can trust Toby?" Jason asked. I ignored his question momentarily, I had no assurance that Tobh wouldn't stab me in the back but what I had to offe
