Brayden
It has been a week since we found Aliya and five days since Myles woke up. We had planned on waiting for two days and then having him tell us what had happened that night but he was so weak still that the talk has waited until now. Kayssia and Yvette were supposed to be back by now but with everything going on they decided to postpone leaving the pack Yvette’s cousin is in. They should be back tomorrow. Dad, mom, Luke, Carter, Myles, Kendrick, Eddie, and Aliya are in my office. Keith, Harry, and Xalen are also here. Dad thought it would be a good idea if they were here. I look over at Aliya. She hasn’t been avoiding me but she has been acting as if the bond between us isn’t there. I have caught her numerous times watching me so I know she feels something. I have no idea why she is fighting the bond as much as she is. I have told mom and dad that she is my mate hoping they could explain why she is fighting it but they have no idea either.
“Ok, Myles tell us what happened,” I say.
“I was out running patrol when we caught the scent of rogues. We tracked the scent down to the creek and that’s when we heard the first alarms go off. There were eight of us when we were attacked about halfway back to the pack. We fought as hard as we could but they just kept coming. I had just killed the rogue I was fighting when I felt the blade pierce my side and the burning started. I knew it was silver at that point so I took off running. I actually had no idea which way I was going. I kept pushing myself to get to the border of our pack because I knew if I could that I might run into the patrols of one of our allies. Honestly, I don’t remember much except for the strangest high pitched voice I have ever heard.” Myles explained.
“That was Regina. She was coming out from behind a tree when you fell down unconscious in front of her in your wolf form. They knew you were from Northern Celestial but you were so beat up and bloodied that they had a hard time telling who you were. The doctor had to force you to shift back to your human form and Jarvis was pretty sure he recognized you.” Eddie states.
“None of your wounds were that bad the doctor said that the blade must have been coated in wolfsbane. He told us between the silver and wolfsbane that it would take you a while to wake up and he was right. He also told us that you would be weak for a while.” I add.
“Well, he was right. I feel much better now but I still feel as if I could get hit by a toddler and fall over in pain.” Myles points out.
We all laugh when he says this. I look at Aliya and I can tell that something is on her mind. It is like she is remembering that night as well.
“Angel do you have something to add?” I asked.
I smirk when her face turns almost the same colour as her hair. Luke smirks at the nickname I have given her.
“I honestly don’t remember much but there was this scent that I recognized. It is the same scent that I remember the day that mom and I were attacked.” She says.
“What did it smell like?” Luke asked.
“This is going to sound weird but it smelled like Morrison. I will explain, Carter, smells like sandalwood and peach while Luke smells like vanilla and leather. Luke always has his leather jacket and cowboy boots on and vanilla is a family scent according to mom. Morrison always smelled of fresh cotton and tea tree oil.” Aliya answers.
We all notice that Carter, Luke, and Myles sit up and their bodies stiffen. I have a feeling that they know who smells like that. I see Carter close his eyes and take a deep breath.
“Ali are you sure about those two smells?” Myles asked.
“Yes, I am one hundred per cent positive.” Aliya states.
“Who do those smells belong to?” I ask.
“My mother who died when I was seven years old always smelled of fresh cotton. She loved that smell and anything that smelled like it. The whole pack said this. From what we were told she died in a rogue attack. From what dad told me was her face was so mangled that it was hard to tell it was her.” Carter answers.
“No offence but was your dad sure it was her?” Kendrick asks.
“He always told me, yes but I always got the feeling that he was never sure. I know he said that the body was of the same height and body build as my mom. She also had the same hair and skin colour. I hate to say this but I don’t think it was. Dad would never admit it but I think he felt the bond break not because she died but because she rejected him. I had heard that she had a lover before she and dad had met and realized they were true mates. I don’t think she ever stopped seeing him. I honestly don’t think Morrison is dad’s son.” Carter explains.
“What about the tea tree scent?” I asked.
“That would be Andrew,” Myles says.
We all look at him. I can have a feeling there is more to this story.
“My father died of some sickness when I was seven. He and mom went out to eat and he ended up getting sick but mom never did. I always thought that was weird. A year later Andrew showed up and joined the pack. No one really questioned where he came from. Mom and he ended up together and became second chance mates by choice. Myself and my older brother Lyle never really liked or trusted him but we got along with him for mom's sake. I know he was hoping once he mated with mom that Alpha Craig would make him the beta instead of mom. Andrew never really liked to see women in a position of power.” Myles explained.
“I bet he was pissed when that didn’t happen,” I say.
“He was beyond pissed. I also know that he was not happy with your dad’s choice of mate Luke. He believed that each species should mate with their own no matter what.” Myles adds.
This makes me wonder if he might be behind the death of Luke and Aliya’s mother. I have a feeling just by looking around that I am not the only one thinking this. I know dad says that the attack on Luke and Aliya’s mother was not random. I really hope that I am wrong about this. I ask Carter if his father ever questioned whether or not Morrison was his son. Carter says that his dad always had suspicions but never any proof. He never felt his mate, Carter’s mother, cheated on him and he never caught her with anyone else.
“I do know there are drugs that can make a wolf unconscious and they might make them not be able to feel if their mate is cheating on them.” Mom states.
I ask her to ask Doctor Branson if she can get a list of them and she says that she will talk to him tomorrow. If this is the case I bet Andrew and her were lovers and that is why he joined the pack. To be close to her and his son, who is probably Morrison. Eddie asks Carter where Morrison is, but Carter says that after he left the pack that he has not heard from him since. He also cut off all contact with their father as well. Great that means this guy is MIA and could be anywhere. I am beginning to think that the alpha of this rogue pack might be Morrison. The timeline for him leaving the pack and this rogue pack gaining an alpha just happen to correlate. I tell everyone my thoughts and they all seem to agree. I can tell that Aliya is very nervous when we talk about either Andrew or Morrison. It is almost as if she is scared of them.
“Angel are you scared of them?” I asked.
“No, they just both creeped me the fuck out. Morrison would always stare at me and Andrew always told me that Morrison was positive that I was his mate which gave me the creeps and made me want to vomit.” She answers.
I have to force myself not to growl when she says that Andrew told her she was Morrison’s mate. There is no way that could be since she is my mate. I have a feeling that Andrew told him that Aliya has powers and that if they could get her to mate with Morrison that they could have a powerful pack and he would be a powerful alpha. I can promise them one thing. They are not touching one strand of her pink hair. I will protect her with my life.
Aliya I have been in the Midnight Forest Pack for almost three weeks. I was planning on leaving but Luke and Carter figured out my plans and put a stop to them. I just told them to leave me alone but then the weather decided to take a turn for the worst. It has been raining non-stop now for three days. It even turns to almost snow occasionally. I have talked with a few of the surviving pack members that came to this pack and they all said the same thing. Nobody had any forewarning that an attack was imminent. I know Morrison was there as was Andrew. I know their scents. I didn’t physically see them but I definitely smelled them. I am sitting in the kitchen when I what the front door to the packhouse open and slam against the door. “What the hell?” I hear Eddie say. “It’s just us brother, I know you missed me.” A woman’s voice states. I peek around the wall of the kitchen and there are two gorgeous women standing there. I can tell that the one is Eddie’s sister. They l
Brayden It has been three days and I am at a loss as to what to do. Aliya has been both avoiding me and ignoring me unless she is forced to talk to me. On top of that when she does talk to me she uses my alpha title. I sit on the edge of my bed with my head in my hands trying to figure out what happened to make her act like this. I rack my brain but I come up with nothing. I thought I had been making progress with her, but I guess not. I let out a huff and walk out of my room down towards the dining room. I run into Malika on the way and we walk to breakfast together. As we turn the corner we run into Aliya. “Sorry Alpha, Luna,” She says and quickly walks to the table. “Did she just call me luna?” Malika asked. “Yes she did and I have no idea where she got that from,” I answer. I have no idea where she got the idea that Malika was my luna. I love the girl but that is because she is my cousin. Her father and my mother are siblings. They were raised in Englund. Dad m
Aliya As soon as I opened my eyes I had to close them again. I don’t remember the light in my room being this fucking bright. I tried to sit up but laid right back down again when my head felt like it was going to explode. I finally force my eyes to open but it takes them a bit to adjust to the bright light when they do I am shocked to see that I am in a hospital room. I don’t remember anything. I look up when the door to my room opens and in walks Luke. I can see the relief on his face when he realizes that I am awake. “Why am I in the hospital?” I ask. “You were brought here yesterday afternoon after Carlton found you unconscious on the floor in your bedroom. He came into the main room carrying you. Brayden took you from him and carried you here.” Luke explained. I have no idea what to say to that. I knew that I was feeling off but I didn’t think it was that bad. Luke hands me my phone and I look at it. Damn it’s afternoon already. That means I have been here for al
Aliya I slowly wake up and when I go to move a shooting pain travels down my arm. I try to move my shoulder only to find it in a sling. I look around and that is when I realize that I am again in a hospital bed. I close my eyes and think. I remember waking up in Brayden’s bed. I climbed out of it and made my way down to my room. I grabbed my stuff and walked back up the stairs to the guest room I was in before. I left them a note letting them know that I had moved back into the guest room across from Brayden’s room. I also let them know that I was going to let Haven out for a run. That’s when I remember the wolf that attacked Brayden and the others. Although I am not sure why they were all out looking for me. I heard Brayden call my name and he sounded mad. I open my eyes when I hear the door open. “Ali why did you run?” Carter asked. “I didn’t run. Did you idiots even read the note I left?” I said. I watch as Myles pulls the note out of his pocket. The five of them
Brayden I could see the confusion on all three of their faces while Eddie had his vision. When mom asked my angel if she knew anything about gifted wolves, I was surprised to hear her tell mom that she had heard of them but never met one. I looked at Luke and Carter, and I could tell they were linking. I think they might know more than they are letting on. I told my angel that we needed to talk after dinner, but now it looks like we will be discussing gifted wolves first. This might be a good thing. Hopefully, this will help Aliya realize that she has nothing to worry about when it comes to Andrew and Morrison hurting me. We follow dad up to his office when dinner ends. “What do you three know about gifted wolves?” Dad asks. “I have heard of them but like I said I have never met one. As far as I know we didn’t have one in our pack.” Aliya says. Dad looks at Luke and Carter, and I can tell that they know something. Aliya looks at them as well. Luke lets out a sigh. “W
Aliya When I woke up the next morning I can’t move and I felt warm air on the back of my neck. I start to freak out when I smell his eucalyptus forest after a fresh rainstorm scent. I try to turn around but I still can’t move. I look down to find a huge muscular arm wrapped around my waist. I start to squirm out from under it but all that does is make it hold me tighter. I feel something move behind me as his hand moves up under my shirt and touches the skin on my stomach. I suck in a breath when his fingers start gliding across my skin leaving sparks everywhere. “Good morning angel,” Brayden says. His voice is deep and raspy sounding. Considering he just woke up and all. I am sure my face is turning red. I have never slept with a guy before. I mean I used to crawl into bed with Luke when I had nightmares. That was when I was younger and after mom had been killed. I am not sure what do to. I am not sure I have ever slept this good and felt this safe. “Morning,” I wh
Brayden I smirk to myself when I think about waking up to my angel in my arms this morning. She had fallen asleep crying so I laid her down then turned off the lights and climbed in behind her. I had pulled her to me and she had snuggled into my chest. I haven't slept that well in a long time. Both my wolf and I were content to have her in our arms. My wolf and I about lost it when she started to tell me the last time she had slept with a guy until she said it was Luke and that it was after she had nightmares. I am sure it had to do with her mother and I can remember Kayssia crawling into my bed after she had a nightmare too. Breakfast went well and I told them about the Coastal Current pack led by Alpha Barrett claiming their old pack for now. I also told Carter that Alpha Barrett would be here next week to talk with him. I could see the concern in his eyes and I let him know that the talk will be positive. I was going to show my angel around that pack when Kendrick told me
Morrison It’s been a month since we attacked the Northern Celestial Pack. I don’t call it my old pack because it never was. Mom somehow was able to convince Alpha Craig that I was his. I am not sure how she did this, but she did. I have no idea how no one figured out that Carter and I weren’t related. I am not sure if everyone in that pack was stupid or if they just blindly believed their Alpha. Carter and I look nothing alike. I watch as mom moves around the kitchen, making breakfast. I turn and look when I hear someone walking in. “Good morning everyone.” Uncle Andrew states. “Morning uncle,” I reply. Uncle Andrew sits down across from me and starts talking with mom. Dad was killed when he challenged the head councilman. If he had won, then his and Uncle Andrew’s pack wouldn’t have been disbanded. Uncle Andrew still thinks that the councilman somehow cheated in the fight. It doesn’t matter their pack was disbanded and forced to either join other packs or become r
