Chapter Forty

Catherine's POV:

I burst into laughter at the second pop of the bottle of wine. The first one lay empty on the ground and Michael filed our cups before he looked up at me.

"You're tipsy, Catherine."

I shook my head and picked my fork. "No! I am not! Why would you say that?"

"Because you are," He chuckled and filled his own cup before he looked at me with raised brows. "I don't want to give you another because I know you won't be yourself by the time you're done drinking."

Sighing, I leaned against the backrest of my seat. Of course, things felt a tad bit weirder but I was in control of it. I really was.

"I might be tipsy but I promise that I am aware of what I am doing."

He placed the bottle on the table and took a sip from his cup before picking his fork. "I'll only do that on one condition. Eat up so you can have something laying the groundwork of your belly. You don't want to wake up extremely shitty tomorrow, do you?"
