Chapter eight

I caught myself staring at the distance a second time. I threw my head back on the seat and let out a very long sigh, wiping off the perspiration that had gathered on my forehead.

I was sitting in my office going through the endless pile of documents that needed my signature, my mind kept drifting back to Hailee. I couldn't help but think about her constantly. The thought of losing her to another man scared me more than anything else. She used to be the Alpha of our pack, before the Pixen Pack had her.

I still remembered the day she went on that mission with the other rogues like it was yesterday, and never came back.

I was so worried about her. I paced back and forth in my office, unable to focus on anything else until I heard news of her safety. When I finally received the news that she had been found and rescued, I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders.
