Glancing at the wall clock, the time read 2 a.m., and a lot of worrying thoughts ran through my mind.

We had been here for over two hours and honestly I was growing crippled with fear each passing second.

“What’s taking so long? Why won’t they tell me anything?” I wondered.

The hospital was a world of its own. The lights were too bright for the dark outside, and the silence was broken only by the soft beeps of machines and the distant shuffle of nurses’ feet. The air was cool and had a clean smell that somehow made my heart race even faster. I couldn’t sit still, not even for one second.

I kept walking up and down the corridor, my mind racing as fast as my feet. It had been an hour since they took Emilio into the ICU, and every minute felt like a lifetime. “Is he alive? Is he okay?” The questions kept hammering in my head, refusing to let me breathe.

Oh God. Please keep Emilio alive for me.
