He had lived his life in agony and fear, a vampire who had a target on his back from birth all because of a title. The crown prince, son to the vampire king and his late queen, he had lived to be a ruthless man because of this cruel world, he was not born a man he is. Dean Stoker, the crown prince, the man known for his temper and cruel nature.
Though his little half-brother and stepmother had always been the source of his problems all the time, this time he had an even bigger problem, his mate. He had wished to never find a mate in his life, but fate seem to want to turn him into an even more vile man that he already is.
In the back of his neck lay his biggest problem yet, the mark that keeps growing, the mark that ignites pain every morning, those blue scales.
"Your majesty, a ship was spotted in the harbor, it must be the second prince again." His friend and partner Holden chimes, though it did not stop the mark from furiously soring it made him focus on his other problem. "He is in a hunt for merfolk, he must be aware your mate is a mermaid."
As they approach the harbor, he cannot help but groan in anger, his mate's lives and many other mermaids' lives hang on a thread because of some egotistical vampire who lusts for the throne.
The scene at the ship is a gruesome one, blood splatter everywhere and men with decapitated heads on the floor.
"What? What happened here?" Holden asks bewildered, "do you think sirens attacked them?"
"No, they must have kidnapped a siren, fools they must be aware of the siren's gruesome nature."
"Seems the second prince might start a war with sirens, we should report this to the king."
"No, not yet we need concrete proof, you know the queen is not on our side." He cursed his mother's dying wish for asking his father to marry that cursed woman.
The woman that pretended to not want power until she birthed a son of her own.
"Let us..."
He is unable to finish his statement since he heard a loud sound in the other room.
"It seems we are not alone." Holden says.
“Hi.”
Sirens two of them, even though they were in their human forms, he could tell they were sirens by scent. They had both adorned the sailor's clothes clearly stolen from one of the corpses in the ship.
“Sleep and forget us.”
One of them said he did not sleep but Holden did but as some would say, his temper was his worst suit.
“Damnit.” He had cursed at them preparing to teach them to not touch anyone of his people, but he had been hit in the head with something hard.
He still remembers her, the one who hit him, he still remembers her clearly, her flowy black hair and her dark blue eye like the deepest ocean. Her voices had felt so mesmerizing, he still hears it when he closes his eyes.
"What happened?"
"Father?"
"Mermaid trafficking? I expected better from you."
They had been discovered late that afternoon by his father and some of his vassals. Found on the scene of the crime quite a good plan the queen had produced.
"How many times can I say it? Holden and I were out investigating before we were attacked by sirens."
"Sirens Holden know nothing of?"
"You know sirens can compel father."
He could not help but sigh, those damn sirens had put him in a tight position. And his father who seems to not understand the war for the throne he is unaware of.
"Fine, I will let this go, but if you use this method to find your mate again you will not be first in line for the throne anymore.” As his father walks out, he cannot help but look at Holden.
“I am sorry your majesty, I do not remember anything after we arrived but I told his majesty that we went to investigate the queen had already started her own narrative.”
“It is okay, I am just happy both you and I are alright, sirens are not as merciful as other creatures.”
He could find the siren that attacked and make them pay for their transgression, but he knows Holden would tell him they were just protecting themselves.
“It is a wonder why we did not get killed. Do you remember them clearly?” Holden pauses, “I can find them for you.”
“No, it is no use finding them. They probably went back to sea. Let us focus on clearing my name of these trafficking charges.”
He was hesitant, because he really wanted to meet that siren again, he had felt she had stolen something from him, something he himself was not aware of yet.
“Ah….”
Holden had widened his eyes when he looked at his neck, of course that damn mark is growing.
“Your majesty what happened to the mark?”
“You know it grows at times Holden, did those sirens take all your memory?” he angrily said, he hated it when people talk of his mark, even Holden knew that.
“No, um... The mark has disappeared.”
He paused a little before touching his back, a prank perhaps. He asked himself, but Holden knows better not to make those types of pranks. Maybe he hit his head on his fall, it is not every day they meet opponents faster than vampires.
His hands a sure deceiving him the same way Holden’s eyes are deceiving him. There is no way, zero possibilities of this happening.
“Bring a mirror!” he yells, he needs clear proof, the mate mark does not just disappear without finding said mate.
He had unbuttoned his shirt so quickly with his shaking hands, how could this be? Holden’s eyes had not deceived him nor did his hand, the mark had disappeared.
“What on earth is going on?” the family doctor Anne and a long-time friend had caught a glimpse of his mark less back when she entered.
“Ah… I apologize your majesty; I should have just knocked.” she says, with a red blush creeping into her ears. “But your majesty’s mark is gone? That is wonderful, like I said it was a curse from that dumb siren you killed.” Anne says.
“Anne!” Holden scolds her, he knows the topic of a siren killed was too touchy for his majesty, “mind your language.”
“I have already gotten a second opinion; the warlock said it was a mate mark.” Dean said buttoning his shirt, “and do not speak of her like that, she saved my life.”
He had left before Anne could apologize, to the place where he felt most relaxed, yep, the club. Full of so many humans and shapeshifters alike, too tipsy to defend themselves from a blood hungry vampire.
He had already had his first target, he need not use his vampire skills to convince her to follow at the back of the club because she had suggested it herself, some people seem to invite death so easily, how amusing it was to him.
“Ahh…...”
The girl had screamed when they arrived at the back, there were five bodies lying headless, and the two sirens he had encountered earlier this morning. The girl did not have much time to run because the blue-eyed girl had killed her before she could, her fast speed, her brutal way of killing, it ignited something in him.
She had turned to him ready to attack, ugh, seem she is a dumb one, openly attacking him with no restraint.
“Avisa you cannot attack a royal.” He heard the green haired girls’ shouts, confirming they had met before.
“Hi...” she had said, but it did not work yet again.
“If that is supposed to hypnotize me it does not work, it didn’t work this morning. What makes you think it will work now?”
He had said with a smirk in his face, her angry face made him very happy, she had ruined his day already now it is time to ruin her life.
“How is this possible Lia? he is not supposed to remember.” She shouts as she struggles to break free from Dean’s arm, “is it because he is some royal highness?” “This quite a brutal scene you have created little siren.” “Do not call me that you bloodsucker let me go.” She glares at him with her deep blue eyes, he had never submerged under the ocean but somehow, he felt like her eyes symbolized the beauty of that is under the sea. “Ugh… let me go.” She struggles, before she swings her free hand, he knows this too well, he is not getting knocked out cold again, he catches her other hand. “You should behave little siren, I just want to talk,” he says, “at least for now, first let us apologize for the incident this morning, and by us, I mean you.” “Huh. How overconfident, let me go your highness, she might care about your status, but I do not I do not mind biting your head off right now.” She says shifting into her siren form, mesmerizing sight, her blue scales shined so beautifully
Though she was still confident, she had a hint of fear, enough for her to avoid the queen’s gaze. “What do you want Briar?” Penelope asks angrily, she had lived peaceful after that fateful day, and now this woman threatens her. “I want my daughter as the next queen, I do not know how her majesty would do it, but I believe you are capable.” She Briar Arnold answers confidently, she and Penelope were on the same boat, they were two greedy women who would do anything for power, and she need not to be embarrassed about her greediness as she felt Penelope was the greediest. “How bold of you to claim to kill the previous queen without a single hint of remorse.” “But her majesty killed her only friend for a throne.” Briar speaks, “does she has the right to act nobler than me? We are both wicked women and have no right to act higher than thee.” Penelope had busted into a laughter at Briar’s words, her confidence seems to amaze her, she had always known Briar Arnold to be a dumb woman ev
“Your majesty, we have looked everywhere, I don’t think there are sirens.” Holden reports for the fifth time this week, he had been tasked with the search of a certain siren that attacked Dean, but it seems there is no way to be found. “Also, it seems the queen and second prince has stopped their mermaid kidnapping.” “Is that so I wonder what that woman is up to now.” Dean sighs, he knows his stepmother well enough, she is the woman that gaslighted him into killing thousands at a tender age of 10. “And the new alpha for the Crescent pack is here to see you.” Holden says before holding his breath for an outburst, wolves and vampires we natural enemies but Dean Stoker and Arnoux Crescent were a different type of enemies. Arnoux Crescent was always known as the alpha of his pack from the first time he breath the oxygen in this earth just like how Dean was a crown prince from birth. And with Arnoux’s mother's relationship with the late vampire queen, Dean grew close to Arnoux, and the
“What the hell is that Arnoux?” Dean yells angrily. “My mate marks.” Arnoux sighs buttoning his shirt, “well that is what the warlock told me at least.” “But you found your mate already, that is why you became alpha of the pack.” Dean said. “No, my father had already made a plan on how he was going to fool everyone into thinking I am already mated.” Arnoux says, “glad it worked, anyway tell me where you found your mate and help me find mine.” “Are out of your mind do you know what can happen to you if they find out?” Dean speaks angrily, though he and Arnoux did not get along he still cared for him, well a little bit. “Relax there, you found your mate, what is stopping me from doing so?” Arnoux says nonchalantly, “I am here to get help not get scolded.” Though Holden was heavily hurt by this new development he was still happy to see the two friends care for each other. “I don’t even know who my mate is Arnoux, I don’t know where I met her.” Dean shouts, he was angry, angry at Ar
“I swear mother I don’t remember anything.” Dean’s youthful drowsy voice can be heard in echoes, a little 10-year boy made to shoulder the burden older than him. “You killed the Crescent pack’s Luna that is what you did, how ruthless of you.” Penelope scolds, the little vampire who stood next to a lifeless body, “did the tittle make you feel so unstoppable enough to kill the Luna?” “I didn’t, I didn’t do it, I swear.” Young Dean cries. Penelope had called the guards to drag him to the dungeon, “make sure he is locked in tight; we have many guests, we don’t want this ruthless animal to kill any more of our guest.” Penelope chimes with a smirk on her face. “Your majesty?” Holden shouted for the second time, he ran to Dean’s room as soon as he heard screams and groans. With the third call Dean had woken from his nightmare, his body drenched with sweat with both his pants and shirt drizzling droplets of his sweat and gasping with every breath. “Get me some water.” He tells Holden in
Holden had liked Anne for a long time, well since they met when they were just 12 years old, but he had already known she was too obsessed with Dean to give him the time he needed. He had given up long ago that she will never be his, but look how cruel fate is, he is now stuck with some dumb mate bond that linked him to the woman who will never love nor respect him.“Ah……” Holden screams as loud as he can, not with anger but with sadness, he is going to have to wake up early next morning and work with the very man that keeps his mate’s heart. The next morning, he had woken up rather late, later than Dean who had knocked at his door when he woke up.“Good morning your majesty.” Holden says softly.“What happened?” Dean asks, “you have been sulking since our last hunt.”“I… well… It is nothing, I am just not having a good day that is all.”He knew Dean suspected something, after all they had been friends long enough for them to know when the other was not having a good day.“Good mornin
“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the wonders of the world, where you get sweet beautiful mermaids at low price.” The commentator says, “unfortunately we do not have many mermaids today, we still have sweet little women to appease you, and a special main event.” The auction starts, though many complained about not getting mermaids they still opened their filthy wallets. “And now the main event, a special little wonder,” the commentator says opening the box to show the little scared elf, “come on sweet it your time to shine” he whispers to her tugging her to stand. “Let me demonstrate,” he says calling some men to come with swords in their hands, “let me show you a little trick,” The men swing their swords slashing her and she screams in pain and agony, they stopped, and after a few seconds her blood stopped all together, and all her wounds heal mysteriously. “Yes, just like those vampire sweets you just bought, this wonder can heal magical too, and what is the plus
She stops the trident just close enough to draw blood, his hands still intact but his prides shattered as he screamed so loud that he surrendered with fear and tears on his face. “Ha-ha-ha-ha, oh, you are so gullible, are sure you are a siren?” Avisa laughs mockingly she always wanted to make Aran cry, “don’t forget to worship that girl over there” she says pointing at laughing Ophelia. “Avisa Photim, my office now” the king roars even with her wining, she needed not toy with the poor guy’s feelings. The coliseum was still quiet in shock of how easy it was to defeat their strongest warrior. “Got ME in trouble yet again, ugh, I should just finish you off” she says making him flinch before walking away laughing, Ophelia strides behind her happily. Avisa had been scolded for being too insensitive, well at least that is what her father said, he himself is an insensitive piece of crap, so it took her by surprise why this kettle is calling the pot black, all in all she was grounded. “L
