The Forbidden Kiss

It is another night, another function which I am not in the mood for. I have not been able to get Joshua Hamilton out of my mind.

It is frustrating.

I have met my match, and I don’t like it. Victoria James does not crave men. Joshua Hamilton is proving to be a problem.

So I am aimlessly walking around the club until I find myself wandering the streets to get some fresh air.

The sun has long gone set, and there is a slight drizzle of rain. The smell of wet tar fills my nostrils as I make my way down the alley. Even between all the people of the night, I still choose to be alone.

What a miserable life it sounds like, a not so lonely woman wandering down empty streets. But here I am, late in the evening in the middle of the city, getting drenched in the rain.

In the far distance, I can hear people talking. It sounds like the voices of two girls. Then all of a sudden, there is a voice of a man, a firm voice, like that of a father, but yet it sounds too young to be one, maybe that of a brother. So I decide that it is time to make my leave; it does not sound like it is safe out here.

I start picking up my pace and head over to inside the club again. It is raining so much harder now, but I am determined to get there.

Then out of complete nowhere, someone slams smack bang into my chest.

A sweet smell, spice, and musk attack my senses. There is a figure of a man pressed into my body. I slowly try to push her away, but he holds firmly onto my hand. My voice is gentle but somewhat trembling as I speak to her, "Please let me go?"

He does not say a word, but instead, he grabs me around my waist; his body is tight against mine. I can feel his chest rise and fall as he is breathing heavy. I feel his warm breath on my ear, it sounds like he is whispering, but I cannot hear. I push away.

Then he finally speaks, “What are you doing out here? You know it is dangerous.”

I slowly pull away as I realize who it is, "Mr. Hamilton, it seems like you like walking into things."

He looks at me with a mischievous smile forming around the corner of his mouth. "Mmm, you say things?"

I burst out laughing; his voice sends shivers through my body, not cold shivers but more tingles of pleasure. "I mean people, walk into people. Do you do it that often?"

I look down at my feet as I step one step closer to him. Why am I doing this? I should not be doing this. But I am like a moth that is being drawn to a flame, and nothing is telling me I am in danger.

“Mr. Hamiltan.”

“Joshua.”

“Joshua,” I step one more step closer, close enough so I can reach my arms and fold it around his waist. The closer I get, the softer my voice becomes.

"Joshua,” I step closer and closer, close enough to feel his warmth radiate from his skin.

I look up into his eyes; his lips are but less than an eye wink away. All I need to do is lean an inch forward, and mine would be against them. But mine is trembling and how I would love us to tremble together.

He takes a lock of my hair and twirls it around his finger, then gently pulls it closer. "Veronica, if I knew what the scent of an angel was, then I would say it was you.”

"Flirting already, Mr. Hamilton?”

"You would know when I am flirting with you, and this is not it" he leans in closer. "Do you want to know something else?" His lips touch the delicate tips of my ear. I gasp, and the pace of my breath increases. If he is feeling anything as much as I do now, then he knows how much I need to be with him.

"Plea...please tell me.”

"That I can so easily kiss you right now, but I won't."

"Why, why not?"

"Cause we have not concluded our deal yet. Now let us go inside and discuss it further."

I can hardly contain my visible excitement as I lace my fingers between his, and we make our way out the alley.

As we sit down at the first available table, he immediately stops me, "Will you sit next to me, please?"

"Mmm," I tap my finger on my lips as if I am thinking. "That is a tough choice, sit by myself or sit by the hot boy that makes the heads turn."

"Hahaha," he bursts out laughing. "Hot boy, that makes the heads turn. You must have me confused.”

“Mr. Hamilton, you turned a few heads when we walked in here, and I somehow don’t think it was me.”

I gasp as he moves in next to me and our broad shoulders touch together. He sees what his closeness is doing to me and pushes our legs tightly together.

"So, Mr. Hamilton, what are you thinking about?"

"Do you really want to know?"

"I prefer if you are honest with me, yes."

"That your lips were so close to me, and I could not kiss them,” he says as he is looking down at my lips.

"Do you want to kiss them?”

"More than you think,”

"It is a pity then.”

"But..." he looks into the eyes.

"I sense you have found a loophole somewhere."

"I can still touch them."

"Who says I am going to allow you?"

"I know you will.” he takes his thumb to my bottom lip and gently runs it from one corner to the other. My lip-gloss making is smooth and soft; it slides with ease. I nearly stop breathing as he moves them between the seams of my lips and slightly begins to part them.

The heat between our bodies is unmistakable. My breathing is short and shallow. I try to whisper by my trembling lips only but cause my words to whimper. I see my name forming around his lips, but he, too, is drowning in the power I have over his body.

"Veronica," his voice is so low that you can barely hear it underneath the music.

"Yes, Joshua?”

"Please let me.”

"Let you..."

He does not let me finish; he moves his lips breath by breath even closer to mine. We are so close now that we are breathing the same breath. He looks down to my lips and backs up to meet my eyes. He closes his eyes and moves forward, closing the space between us.

"Joshua! Stop!"

“What is wrong, Veronica.”

“I don’t kiss.”

“What do you mean that you don’t kiss?”

“Well, have you considered my offer, Mr. Hamilton?"
