"Beta Zeke, you have to reason with him, everyone will make fun of me at school if they see me staying at the packhouse, ugh, please!" I groaned, doing my best to convince the beta as we journeyed to my home, "think about my mom, she can barely sleep at night with me there, let alone me moving out spontaneously."
"You're acting like you didn't bring this on yourself." He raised a brow at me. "The pack is in dangerous times, you can't risk away like that and expect no punishments for it."But..." I raised an argument, stopped by a raise of his finger."What is it beta?" I furrowed my eyebrows at him and then I heard it. Screams coming from all around us. "Not again," I groaned, if it was my mysterious kidnapper, I wasn't going to let go without a fight.Beta Zeke pulled me behind him, naturally protective and ready to take over. Multiple mind links were created as people tried to communicate with their loved ones amid the panic.I put my hands over my ear to block out the voices while trying to concentrate on the reason for the panic.People scampered around in wolf form and before I knew it, beta Zeke was gone to join the fight. The wolves in chaos caused me to stumble and fall. I picked myself up, ready to join them in running when I smelled it.Rotten and fearless. Rogues."Mom!" I yelled through the mind link, trying to tune out all the meddling voices. "Mom, where are you?" I shifted, running in the direction of the pack members. There was fear in my heart, the pack attacks had been happening mostly at the border and warrior wolves had been there to fight. But never this close to us."Mom!" I cried a second time. Taking short breaths as I ran in panic.'we are going to be fine,' Nala tried to assure me but her fur was standing erect as she led us through a sea of wolves for a hiding place. We never took pack trainings serious because the warriors took everything for us. My mom was a warrior and she'd be facing these people."Please be fine mom." I said hopelessly."Talie!" I heard Shayla call behind me, she was holding Ash. Nala turned her neck to look at them before shifting."Guys, you're okay!" I hurried to throw my arms around Shayla's neck."Not for long, we have to hide." She tugged my arm and pulled me away, still holding onto her boyfriend with her other hand.We headed into the school since it was closest to us."Lock the fucking door!" Brit's voice cried when we got into the school building. We jammed the door locked. "Hurry, let's head underground." Her usual cool voice was shaky. We had a school basement we referred to as underground."No one will be able to find us here," Brit swallowed once we were in the basement. There were other students curled in there as well. We couldn't hear that much noise from in here, it was dark and I could hear everyone's heart racing in fear.I sat in a corner, hugging my knees to my chest, trying to catch my breath, "I have to head back there," I attempted to stand to my feet but Shayla pulled my arm, dragging me down."Where the fuck do you think you're going?""My mom is out there, I have to go get her!" I lifted my brows, panting slowly."You must be insane, you can't go out there, our parents are all out there, we can only hope they are safe, what do you think you can do to help? They are more experienced and know how to handle rogues, we don't." She snapped at me. "Your mom is the only female warrior for a reason, trust me, she's got this.""But she's not responding to the mind link,""Because the link is broken, a hundred wolves are trying to link at once, just calm down." She cupped my cheeks, "let's stay safe together, the pack has got this, alpha has got this."She was right.I sat still and closed my eyes tight, hoping it would all go away sooner than later.**I don't know how long exactly we were there, but it was long enough to give me butt cramps. "Do you hear that?" I broke the long hours of silence."No," Brit shook her head."Exactly," I got to my feet, cracking a few bones, "the noise, it's all gone.""Do you think they left?" Shayla stood up right after me, fixing her ponytail that had gotten messed up from the scampering off."Only one way to find out," I shrugged one shoulder and opened the aluminium door that led us out of the basement. The smell of blood filled my nostrils and I gagged on reflex, "I swear if I find one dead body, I'm going to freak out." I swallowed as everyone else tagged along behind me.I caught sight of Ash giving Shayla assuring squeezes and wished so much that someone would give me that sort of comfort right now. My mom. "Mom?" I started the link, hopeful it would go through."Talie, where are you?" She called back in the most exhausted voice. I let out a breath I'd held against my will, relief washing over me, she was alive."I'm at the school." I hastened my steps. It was so late, the moon had come up. How long were we in there really. "Where are you?""Just stay there, I'm coming right now. You and anyone with you should stay in place." She said before ending the link. At first my heart sank that she hasn't even tried to communicate with me at all but then I remembered she was dealing with the pack's safety. It was her commitment."Guys, my mom's on her way, she's asked us to stay put." I told the rest. Brit and her friends huddled together whilst Shayla leaned closer into Ash.I wrapped my arms around myself, taking long breaths to keep myself sane.My mom showed up in less than ten minutes, reeking so much of blood, her clothes were torn and her hair appeared lie it had been hit by a tornado. "Mom!" I cried in relief, "I was so worried," I held her hands after pulling away."Are you hurt in any way?" She asked, scanning my face. I shook my head at her and frowned when I noticed the sadness behind her eyes."What's wrong mom?" I asked in a slight whisper."Alpha Dan is gone," she bowed her head and collective gasps from all around me filled my ears.It felt as if I didn't hear her right, I furrowed my eyebrows and shook my head, "Mom that makes no sense, no one can defeat him, he's....""There were too many rogues, he took too many at a time trying to protect us all," she bowed her head and I heard the choking sound she made. She had been really close to the alpha when he was alive I didn't want to think about how affected she was, "they were sent by a rival pack.""Same pack responsible for the attacks in the previous weeks?" I felt my eyes water and tried to blink the tears away. My mom simply nodded in response."We have... We have gone rogue." Brit's voice pierced my ears as she screamed."Just calm down, beta Zeke, the other warriors and I have set up a camping zone for the pack, to know how many more wolves are safe, injured or worse." My mom turned on her heels, leading the way and I took note of how she was limping across the room as blood traiked down her lower leg, without the alpha, wounds would not heal on their own.
It felt like we were walking forever. My mom eventually lifted me onto her Wolf's back, felt guilty knowing she was just as tired as I was but I couldn't bring my legs to work anymore. My senses only jilted back to life after hearing those men call out, "who goes there!" We were finally at the border of dark blood pack. It was heavily patrolled by the most giant men with the most defined muscles. They looked ready to pounce on us. It was a werewolf only territory.I hopped off my moms back while she shifted. "We are here to see Alpha Kaden," my mom took the lead, holding me behind her with one hand. One thing she would always let them know was how protective she could get. Nala and I felt intimidated by these men but my mom was here, she was my saving grace."And who are you?" One of the warriors stepped forward, scrunching his nose in disgust. I gasped inaudibly. We'd only just gone rogue, there was really no way we already smelled rotten, even if we did, it would be so minimal."I
Shayla pov"Mom, dad! You're alive." I screeched, hugging my parents tight when I found them helping injured wolves, cleaning their wounds and tying them up in bandages."My Goddess, I tried so hard to mind link you, it just wouldn't come through, I'm so glad you're doing okay, this has to be the best day of my entire life." My mom broke into tears as my dad stood still, a weak grin on his face. "We were looking through the bodies to see if we'd find you and-" she choked through her tears."Mom I'm here and I'm fine, not a scratch on me." I sighed and let go of her to hug my dad, "I'm so glad you're okay.""Sort of," my dad rubbed a spot on his head where a patch of hair was missing, "it was way too rough on us." My parents were responsible for my short height, both five four and on the plus size. They were both in their middle fifties and had issues with fertility until having me. They were mates and so in love."I'll help with the injuries." I sighed, looking at all the tents set up
Talie"You're alpha Kaden?" I gasped and it wasn't till I saw Rigg's dropped jaw and my mom's twitching eye that I realised the tone I'd spoken in.Alpha Kaden wasn't bothered by this, or he was really good at hiding it. "Sonya, we meet again." He broke the silence that followed. "Again?" I leaned against my mom, whispering. "What does he mean by again?"My mom got to her feet and bowed her head a little, "yes Alpha, I came here with my daughter and wanted to talk to you about an urgent matter."I got to my feet as well and imitated my mom's actions, ignoring the strands of my hair that fell forward."Alright," his voice had so much baritone, while it had an aura of fear, something about it was really calming to me. "It's pretty late, you ladies should go to bed, whatever it is can wait till morning." He said. I didn't realise how stiffened my chest had been until I let out a sigh of relief. It was a good sign he was letting us stay here, it meant there was hope we could stay back."
Staring right at me in the eye, he stayed silent until the heavy rising and falling of my chest subsidised. "Are you okay?"I slid his hand downwards and away from my mouth. "How can I be okay?" I whispered, putting my hand on my chest, "why on earth would you sneak up on me like that?""I heard your scream in the bedroom, what was that all about?" I had my back leaning against the counter and he was only a few inches away from me , partially leaving me trapped between his body and the counter."It's nothing," I dismissed quickly."If there's something going on, you shouldn't hesitate to tell me." My eyes looked between both his blue orbs and I attempted to leave when he pulled my arm back effortlessly. "If something is wrong, you have to tell me." This time it sounded like a threat to me. I wouldn't lie and say that his aura wasn't threatening but I wasn't about to let him know what effect he was having on me.I was dead silent, holding my breath and staring at him blankly when visual
He was laying on his back and suddenly turned in a way that he was laying on his side and facing me. "You really can't do without me, can you?“I attempted to get to my feet, confused by the entire ordeal but his hand on my waist stopped me. “What do you think you're doing?” I was still heavy with sleep and this was probably still one of my dreams. I slowly came back to my senses and gasped, “why the fuck are you in my room you creep?”At first he stared like I had gone crazy, then he propped himself up, his weight depending on his elbow. "Is that what you say to them? You don't have to pretend, if you wanted to get some, I'd gladly give it to you." Alpha Kaden's voice had a spell over me that I hated. The last thing I wanted was to show him how his words were making feel but my body was getting tensed and if I wasn't careful, my arousal would cloud our nostrils."Ew, go away," I pushed him aside, jerking away from him. I was going to protest some more when I looked around. Even in th
"Alpha Kaden," Shadow bowed her head fast, "I didn't hear you come downstairs.""What was that for?" His voice reeked of impatience, it made my heart skip a beat."I was only messing around alpha, it was completely unnecessary alpha, I'm sorry." Shadow's voice trembled as she spoke.Just then, my mom and beta Riggs walked in through the main door carrying sacks and they must have been having a good laugh before since they were both grining from ear to ear. The silence drew their attention, they stopped in their tracks and my mom's smile faded when she saw me standing there.."How should you be punished?" Alpha Kaden continued to be intimidating, coming closer until he was inches away from her while I stood a few inches away from their middle."I'm sorry Alpha."Alpha Kaden slightly kicked the bucket that was beside her , "fill it up.""Yes alpha." She picked the bucket, rushed into the bathroom and returned with a bucket of water."Now give it to her."Realising what was about to happ
"Hey, are you okay?" Alpha Kaden asked me, his facial expression did not match the concern in his voice.I nodded once, " please put me down." I tried to avoid his gaze.He set me to my feet and stuffed his hands into his pocket, "it's time for pack run, I'll let you and your mom sit this one out, taking an oath to a new pack can be very draining, you should rest."I was so glad I didn't have to join them after what happened downstairs."Yes," I paused, trying to process this without any worries, "alpha."Faintly, I noticed that one corner of his lips tried to pull into a smirk. We headed out of his office and my mom was talking to Riggs about something, they both turned their heads to look at us on arrival. How did my mom not look the least affected? My head still hurt so bad and my legs were wobbly and threatening to give way soon if I didn't find a bed.My mom and Riggs came up to us and I could still sense that weird feeling with my mom. She put one arm around me and bowed her hea
