Still in his designated room at the Lauchair's Manor, Snarl was most surprised when the bell began to ring, and he crossed the room from where he had been getting dressed to check who Damon was meeting , only to find that it was Stanley , Damon's cousin . All Hazel could do was pray that Snarl had managed to get away before Shane and his men returned from wherever they went off to whenever he wasn't down in the basement trying to talk and torture information out of her. He hadn't been gone very long before Shane had joined her again, and Hazel found herself keeping one ear pricked for any sign that his men might have captured Snarl. It had been a few hours since Snarl first infiltrated the foreign pack. He knew so because he kept monitoring his pace. whenever he believed that nobody was watching. Having snuck out from seeing Hazel in the nick of time before Shane returned for whatever twisted game he had planned for her next, he had found his way up to the second floor of the main building. He quickly learned that he had been right the first time he entered the warehouse. He had really heard women and children on the floor above his head when he first entered. Moving among their ranks, Snarl quickly came to realize that there were actually many more women and children than there were men in the pack. The men could have been counted on his two hands and so he did, counting only nine of them including Shane . Whether there were more elsewhere, SnarlSarl couldn't be sure. Upon returning to the floor of the warehouse where the women and children had been spending most of their time, Snarl quickly realized that several of them had disappeared while the children cowered in several small groups, dotted around the room. At the sight of them doing so, Snarl began to feel sick. The thought that any of these children should be fearing for their lives made him angry and nauseous. Shane should be ashamed of himself, Snarl thought, thinking not just of the children’s living conditions but also just how close they were to a prisoner of the pack, living and experiencing things that no child should ever have to witness.
