Chapter 43 - Not always as good as it seems ...

There had never been a female ruling over the people in our kingdom, which meant if Spenser and I were married, he was actually supposed to have become the king and taken over from me. Thankfully, Spenser didn’t insist. While Spenser and I took a short holiday in the pixie kingdom, my father did some research and by the time we returned, we were ready to present Spenser with a brand-new title.

I didn’t want to give him the title of prince because that just made him sound like he was my son, which was just wrong! He didn’t expect a thing as we walked out into the square and all of our people were gathered for the weekly get-together. He was so busy greeting people when we arrived, that he also didn’t even notice the table set up with the sword polished to perfection.

“Good evening, everyone!” I shouted over the loud roar of chatter going on and silence fell in the square. I just loved seeing the slight look of confusion in his eyes when he finally noticed the table beside me. “A
