Dave POV
I'm so happy I've found something else to do as my job. And Mr. Charles? He's just such a nice man. He even offered to buy me some clothes.
"Thank you so much sir," I said and entered his car.
I sure hope this job doesn't require much brain work. I'm not that educated. I stopped going to school the moment my father died. And I didn't get a chance to enter the university of my dreams.
"So, what's your shoe size?" He asked me.
"I've not paid attention to that," I replied.
He must have noticed my exceedingly worn-out shoes. I started feeling like I wouldn't stand a chance of getting that job. After all, I can't keep wearing just one set of clothes and people there won't notice.
We reached a big shop and he tells me to come down from the car and I did.
"I'm going to park my car. I'll be back in a minute." He said.
I stood there in astonishment staring at the building.
Mr. Charles cane back.
"This is a boutique." He said and I nodded.
We went into the boutique and my jaws dropped. Everything was so shiny and new.
"Hello, Charles." I heard a man say.
"Hello, my good friend." Mr. Charles replied.
"It's been a long time since you've stepped foot in this place. It's almost as if you've forgotten about me." The man said.
"You know I can't forget you, my friend. It's just that work has got me occupied." Mr. Charles replied.
"Haha. If you say so. Who is this with you?" The man asked Mr. Charles.
"Oh. I almost forgot. This is Dave. He is the new errand boy I got for my boss." He replied to the man.
"Well well well. I don't know how to put this but he certainly doesn't look presentable." The man said.
"That's why I'm here." Mr. Charles replied.
"No worries. I'll fix him up in a jiffy." The man said.
"Dave. This is Mr. Francis. He is going to handle your clothes." Mr. Charles said to me.
"Okay sir," I replied.
"Come this way." Mr. Francis said and I followed from behind.
We came into a different room.
"This is where people try out clothes." He said and I nodded.
He took a designer shirt and a pair of pair of black jeans from the hangers and gave them to me.
"Go behind those curtains and change." He said.
I went behind the curtains and took off my shirt. I felt like someone was watching me. I turned around immediately and looked.
It was a blonde-haired girl. She looks around my age but I'm sure I'm a bit older.
I immediately covered my body.
"What are you doing here?!" I yelled.
The girl smiled at me and turned away.
"You have a nice body shape." She said and left.
That girl is crazy. How can she feel comfortable walking into a guy like that? She even smiled.
"What's going on in there?" Mr. Francis asked.
"Nothing sir. I'm almost done." I said.
"Hurry up. Mr. Charles is in a hurry." He said.
I rushed into the shirt and the black jeans and came out.
"Perfect fit." He said.
Mr. Francis then stood up and started taking a lot of clothes from their hangers.
"What is he doing?" I wondered as I watched.
He finished what he was doing and we came out of the room.
"Good as new. You are the best Francis." Mr. Charles said.
"No problem." Mr. Francis replied.
Mr. Francis put all the clothes in a sack and gives them to me. I collected it.
It was probably part of my job to carry his things for him.
Mr. Charles paid the man for everything and we went back into his car and continued to the company.
"Those are your new clothes." He said.
I didn't expect this.
"Sir, I can't thank you enough. You are doing a lot for me." I said.
"Don't mention it." He replied.
We finally reached his office and went straight to his boss's office.
His boss looks very angry.
Adams POV
"I just don't know what to do with that boy," I said in anger.
I feel so frustrated. Just imagine sending someone to deliver a package to the receptionist and he hasn't come back to tell me anything.
I just need a replacement as soon as possible so I can fire this idiot.
"Good morning sir." I heard my secretary, Mr. Charles, say.
"What's good about the morning? Have you done what I asked you to do?" I asked.
"Yes sir. I have. This is the new errand boy." Charles said.
"Good morning sir." The boy greeted.
I ignored his greeting. I'm just not in a good mood to exchange pleasantries with anyone at all.
"Are you sure he can deliver?" I asked Charles.
"Yes sir," Charles said.
"Okay. I will like to test him right away." I said and then turned to the boy.
"Take this," I said, handing over a document containing the directions around the office.
He takes the papers from my hand and reads through them. He also went through the blueprint of the building which is also attached.
"Now give them back to me," I said to n the boy.
He gives the papers back and stood as he was.
"Go and tell the person on table thirty-seven to bring the documents I requested for yesterday," I said.
"There isn't a table thirty-seven sirs. The workers here have their table but it is labeled with two letters and one number." He said.
I was very impressed. Despite giving him those documents just to confuse him he still passed.
"Impressive. How did you know?" I asked.
"I saw it that way on my way here." He replied.
"He is very good at observing things," I said to Charles.
"Yes sir," Charles replied.
"You are hired," I said to the boy.
"Thank you, sir." He replied.
"By the way, what's your name?" I asked.
"Dave." He replied.
"You are welcome here," I told him.
"You may leave. Charles will explain everything you need to know." I said and they both leave.
I've gotten the job and it still wows me. I thought it would be that kind of interview where they ask professional questions but this was different. Just a test and I passed. "The job is very simple. All you have to do is sit on the best very close to his office and ensure to answer him immediately he calls you." Mr. Charles said. "Okay, sir. I will do my best." I replied. "I hope you have a good hearing because Mr. Adams doesn't like to call more than once or twice." He said. "Yes sir. And I'm very fast." I replied. "That's good. It will help a lot. Follow me. I'll give you a tour of the company." He said. "Okay sir," I replied and followed. Soon enough the tour was over. Mr. Charles told me to sit at my desk till Mr. Adams calls me. He goes in to tell Mr. Adams he was done with me and then comes out and goes to his desk. I sat there for almost an hour before Mr. Adams finally calls. "Dave!" He said. " Yes sir," I answered immediately and went to his office. "
Anna POV My son, Dave, just came back and he told me how his day went. I had been waiting for him for so long that I forgot to go and buy us something to eat. I took some money out of the one Mr. Charles gave us and left the house. I was walking on my own when I saw two men who seemed to be drunk coming out of the bar ahead. I had no other choice but to pass there anyway. Besides, the other road that led to the shop I was heading to was abandoned and bushy. So I took the risk and walked passed by them. "Hey!... Hey!... " I heard one of them yell after me and I walked faster and faster. I was scared and wanted to look back to see if I was followed but thankfully I wasn't. The next day, I woke my son up early. I didn't need to stress much because it seemed as if he was about to wake up on his own already. "Good morning mother." He said with a yawn. "Good morning son. How was your night?" I asked. "It was a sweet and lovely mother." He replied. I wanted to tell him abo
"Really?" I asked Mr Charles. "Yes." He replied. I can't believe that I, Dave, has already gotten the attention of the boss. "Wow. How lucky am i?" I asked rhetorically. "Very lucky." He answered anyway. We both laughed. We reached the office and he dropped me like before and went to park his car. I waited for him and we entered the company together. I'm so happy that I have such good people around me. Mr Charles went to his desk and I went to mine. It didn't take take long before I was called by Mr Adams. Thank goodness I came on time because by the look on his face, he isn't happy at all. Only God knows what he would have done to me if I was a second late. "Dave!" He called. "Yes sir." I answered as I rushed into his office. "Take these papers and burn them outside!" He ordered. I quickly collected the papers from him and ran outside to burn them. After I was done I went back to my seat. Thank goodness there was a tea stand outside. I don't know wher
Charles' POVMr Adams just left me in charge of everything while he left the company happily with Dave.I haven't seen this side of Mr Adams before. He looked so happy. I just hope the relationship they have between them becomes something of benefit to this company and not it's downfall.Well, however it may end, I still have work to do.Hilton POV"No mom! What happened to the University we have here!?" I said in anger."We know what's good for you Hilton and that university isn't good enough for you." My mom replied."Really? You want what's best for me? Or maybe you just want to push me as far away as you can from Dave?" I replied."That's enough Hilton! Not a single word! You are going to study abroad and that's final." My dad yelled."But... But..." I said."Not a single word young man. I know you only want to attend the university here so yo
Adams POVWhen I arrived at Dave's place I started thinking about the beautiful woman again. This place reminds me of her. It was just a bit farther away I saw her. I just can't seem to take my mind off her. Since the night I set my eyes on her she has been stuck in my mind. Why was she hiding from me in the morning? Perhaps she just recognized me as the drunk man who was after her.One thing is for sure. I must have her. Such a woman must not go to waste.I heard a loud clap and jolted out of my thoughts."What did you do that for?" I asked Dave who clapped at my face."I'm sorry sir but I've been calling you for the past five minutes but you weren't responding." He replied."Oh. I'm sorry about that, I was just thinking about... Something." I replied in a not so convincing tone."Okay sir. Good night." He said."Good night and goodbye." I replied and drove off.
Dave POVI just left from Hilton's home. I don't really know why he was grounded but at least I have his number now.His father, on the other hand, was acting weird. He behaved differently with me today. I mean that, this is the first time he has behaved this nice to me. I think something's fishy.Oh well, I don't have the time to think about all these things right now. I have to get to work. It's a good thing that Hilton's father didn't waste me time.I reached home before Mr Charles could arrive to pick me up. My mother called me on the phone but u didn't pick. I walked into the house instead."I was just calling you. How did it go?" She asked."It went well." I replied."Was Hilton's parents there?" I only saw his dad. He is the one who gave me Hilton's number and told that Hilton wasn't allowed to see anyone since he is under punishment." I replied.
"Mom! What are you doing here?!" My son, Hilton yelled in surprised."I am here to stop you from making the worst mistake of your life." I replied."Madam please calm down." Dave's mother said."Stay out of this woman." I said to her."Hilton, I will not stand aside and watch you ruin your future with this woman's son. Go home now!" I said in anger."Please leave. You can't just come into someone's house and start laying insults." Dave's mom said to me."Yes. I am leaving. And I am doing so with my son! I won't leave him here with your distraction of a son." I said."Get out!" She replied."Please mom let's just go. Please stop saying hurtful things to her. I'm tired of hearing all that. Please." Hilton begged."Let's go son. I've had enough of this stinky place." I said and dragged my son out. This won't be the last she'd hear of me.Anna PO
Dave POVIt's another new day. Although I'm kind of upset that Mr Adams postponed the day he was supposed to transfer us to a new house.Oh well, who am I to oppose? It's not my money and it's not my house."Good morning mother." I said to my mother immediately she woke up."Good morning son. You're getting ready for work already?" She asked."Yes mother. I'm afraid I might not have time for breakfast today because I don't think I have enough time to go and buy it." I replied."That's why I am your mother. Don't worry. I'll get it for you." She said."Thanks a million." I replied. She left the house and went on her way as I continued preparing.Anna POVI'll definitely not let my son go to work on an empty stomach. Not when I know that there is enough money for food. That reminds me. What about his boss? He was supposed to come yesterday wasn't he? I gue
