Izariah-
Monday morning couldn’t come soon enough. I was already settled in my new dorm room, which I currently had to myself. I was told that my roommate had gone home for a family emergency and wouldn’t be back until later today.
The only downside I have noticed about this school so far is how large it is. It was five times the size of my last school and the buildings looked like an older historical castle. Everything was modern and extravagant, but it had a creepy haunted house vibe.
It wasn’t just one building, there were six main buildings, which were all similar in size and structure, along with many smaller buildings that looked like extensions of the main buildings. They all had their own unique charm to them; I just couldn’t get over the spookiness.
I imagined it was going to take some time to adjust to the atmosphere here. Maybe the vibes I was getting were nothing more than just me feeling completely underqualified to be here. Since my arrival Saturday afternoon, I haven’t run into many people, but I received a lot of glares from a few that I had come across.
The few I had seen were all dressed in expensive clothes. I was glad that school uniforms were a thing here, otherwise, I would stand out like a sore thumb. There wasn’t anything I could do about the weekends when we weren’t required to wear a uniform.
I suppose I could just keep to myself and focus on my studies and work. I still had nice clothes, since my old roommate gave me some of hers, plus my style wasn’t that bad either. It was clear that I didn’t wear the same kind of clothes as everyone else.
With how busy I am going to be though; I doubt it was going to matter much. My classes were twice as many as I had taken at my old school, with an extra Masterclass course that I had to attend three days a week. Other than that, all my classes were focused around my degree.
The Masterclass was a special class I hadn’t been aware of until coming here. Being that this school had a lot of higher-ranked werewolves, it made sense to have a Masterclass. Basically, the class would focus on everything related to pack matters, hierarchy, werewolf history, human studies, and so much more.
I was looking forward to the class because it wasn’t something that my pack offered in our schools. It wasn’t like I didn’t know the basics of everything but gaining a little more education about it all would help improve my status in the werewolf community.
I was also hoping to learn if there was a reason I haven’t shifted yet. I didn’t think so, but it wouldn’t hurt to look into it. I figured the most important reason for taking the class is because as a doctor it would benefit my relations with pack members and other packs if needed.
Overall, my workload was enough to keep me completely swamped with school and my studies. I was going to keep my job, well at least one job anyway. Even if everything is being provided for me at school, I still had an obligation to send money home.
I had called my parents after getting to my new dorm and they told me not to worry about sending them anything. Even so, I knew they depended on what money I could send them. I probably had enough time to work both jobs still, but I also needed to be able to relax a bit, so I wasn’t burning myself out.
All weekend I have been just scoping out the place and relaxing. The job at the bakery, which I decided to keep, had given me a two-week paid vacation. My boss wanted me to focus on getting familiar with my new school before I returned to work.
He is worried that if I get in over my head, I will mess up my education. As much as I tried arguing with him, I allowed him to give me the time off. It was probably a good thing too, especially after I saw my schedule.
I also had to attend mandatory training, twice a week. If I didn’t know better, I would have sworn someone had it out for me. With my classes, the time I needed to study, and making enough time to work my job, this was certainly not what I expected when I said I needed more of a challenge.
It is fine though, I knew that no matter what it took, I was going to do my best. After familiarizing myself with the campus and my schedule, I believed that I could make it all work out. Now if only I could make it to my first class.
Now that it was Monday and I was starting my classes today, I have been running around like crazy for the past twenty minutes. When I looked over the campus over the weekend, I found out the locations of all my classes. I felt like someone was messing with me though because in every classroom I went to that I thought was mine, the numbers were all mixed up.
It was like someone switched them around. I asked a few other students, but they all just ignored me. I still had another hour before my first class started, which gave me plenty of time. After spending an additional ten minutes searching for my class, I gave up and made my way to the head office.
If I couldn’t get answers there, I wasn’t sure what else I was going to do. Either I had the incorrect information, or I hadn’t paid close enough attention when I was exploring and managed to get myself turned around. Finding the office wasn’t difficult, so at least I had that going for me.
As I walked through on my way back to the Dean of Admission’s office, I found it strange that there wasn’t a soul in sight. For a moment I thought I was at the wrong location once again. When I reached an open door, I read the sign.
“Drake, Dean of Admissions.” Okay, so I was at the right place.
Stepping over the threshold, I knocked my knuckles against the door. The chair in the office was turned away, but I could see the back of someone’s head over the chair. He didn’t turn when I knocked, so I knocked again and cleared my throat.
“Mr. Drake?” I called out, unsure of what to call him since I didn’t know his title.
Slowly the chair spun around. When I saw the person sitting in the chair, I gaped at him. “You!” I shrieked.
Sitting in the chair, was none other than the guy I had hit over a week ago for beating on a kid. I couldn’t remember his name, but there was no mistaking his face. Anger burned inside of me. I had hoped I would never have to see him again. I had almost forgotten about him even.
He was dressed in a school uniform, even though it looked different from all the other male uniforms. His looked more stylish and wasn’t a simple dark green and white color combination like all the other uniforms I have seen. His had traces of gold embroidered in it, along with a gold and black embroidered patch on his left breast pocket.
He looked handsome dressed like this, but not as handsome as when he had worn his leather coat. Realizing I was taking note of how handsome he looked, I cleared my head and glared at him. He leaned back in the chair, placing his hands behind his head while lifting his feet to rest on the desk.
A smug smile spread across his lips, making me want to punch him again. “It’s Izariah, right? Mind if I just call you Iza? In case you don’t remember, my name is Braxton.”
“Are you the reason why I am here?” I asked, ignoring his question. Now that everything was falling into place, I thought he was the reason things have been weird for me today and how I miraculously got chosen to go to a high-class school like this.
“So, what if I am?” He cocked his head to the side and lifted his eyebrows.
“What do you want from me?” I asked through clenched teeth as I balled my hands into fists, at my sides. Just seeing this guy riled me.
“Relax. Right now, I am just here to formally welcome you to my school.” His smile dropped at that moment, and I knew that this was far from an ordinary welcome.
Warily I looked him over, trying to get a read on what was really going on. However, he gave nothing else away as he sat there. His expression was now indecipherable.
“Thank you, I think.” I mumbled half-heartedly.
“I suppose you should be getting to class. There is a map and your correct class schedule on the desk just outside the office. This was just a little fun, I had to get you to come to see me. I have been looking forward to this day all week. I hope you enjoy your time here.” He spoke, his voice sounding detached.
Not having time to figure it out, I turned to leave and grabbed the stuff he just mentioned. Hoping I now had the correct information, I left the main building to head to my first class. I managed to reach it with fifteen minutes to spare.
As I waited for class to begin, I couldn’t help but think about the Braxton. This time I was going to remember his name. I had a feeling I was going to need to know it now, especially now that I was on his territory.
Izariah-My morning class went by without a hitch. The other students didn’t bother me, and I liked the professor. I even managed to not worry about what Braxton had in store for me. However, I quickly learned that it was just temporary. The moment I stepped out of class, Braxton was standing out in the hall with the three guys I saw with him the first time. I didn’t know their names, but I had a feeling I was soon going to find out. Before I made it three feet outside of the classroom, they swarmed me like vultures.“Iza, what a coincidence to have run into you.” Braxton said with a gleam in his eyes and a smirk tilted on his lips.“You call this a coincidence? I have a feeling that you planned this. What do you want?” I in a snarky tone.“Just to walk you to your next class. We all take the same Masterclass.” He gave me a smile that I could tell was bogus. He did look good when he smiled, but I would much rather have him scowling at me. At least then I would not be tempted to think
Izariah-All throughout the class, I managed to ignore Braxton, even though he tried endlessly to get my attention. When class was dismissed, they were the first to leave. I thought it was strange how easily he gave up, but I didn’t let it bother me.With nothing else to do and no homework to worry about, I decided to head to the gym to get a workout in before heading to my dorm. I always tried to get as much exercise in as I could, being that I didn’t have my wolf to help protect me. If I was going to be able to stand up to bullies like Braxton, I had to keep my strength in.Tomorrow I would be able to start training with everyone, which I was looking forward to. Luckily, there was a gym near my dorm so I could grab a change of clothes I could work out in and my hygiene supplies. It took me a while to get there, being that my dorm and the gym were on the far side of campus. When I arrived, I was surprised that I was the only one there. When I entered the locker room, I found an empty
Braxton-I couldn’t stop laughing at seeing Izariah covered in red paint. If only I had stuck around long enough to see her reaction. Next time I think I might use blood, that way I can watch her freak out.Normally I didn’t pick on girls, but this one got under my skin, and I didn’t like it at all. It was time I stepped up my game. She needed to learn I wasn’t someone she could escape from. I give her one week and she will be on her knees asking me for forgiveness and begging me to stop.“I wish I could have seen it!” One of the three freshmen I recruited laughed.Normally I would have the other members of Ace of Clubs help, but they were currently busy with other things now. I also tended to recruit others to do my dirty work so I can sit back and watch. Some things I did on my own, while other times I wanted a front-row seat to watch the action. These three standing in front of me were some of the most idiotic werewolves I have met. They came from good families, but to me, they wer
Izariah-I woke up with a splitting headache, but that didn’t stop me from getting up and ready for my first class. Grabbing the coat that I got from Jace, I stuffed it inside a bag and headed out the door. Since I didn’t have an afternoon class, I would have a little bit of time to take his coat to get it cleaned.I had stayed up most of the night trying to get the red paint off it but failed. I was still annoyed about what happened yesterday, yet I woke up in a good mood, despite feeling like crap. While I had been trying to clean the coat, I found myself thinking that Jace wasn’t a bad guy, perhaps someone I could even be friends with.I only had to remind myself a hundred times that he was friends with the one person I hated the most. The more I thought about it, the more I became annoyed with Braxton. Who did he think he was?Not wanting to think about Braxton, I cleared my head and focused on getting to class. As I walked down the sidewalk that would lead me to class, I noticed
Braxton-“You went too far this time Braxton!” Jace shouted as he shoved open the door to our Clubhouse. Not bothering to ask what the hell he was talking about, I checked the time on my watch. I still had another hour before my first class, but I knew he was supposed to be in class right now. As I was still finishing getting ready, I returned to tying the laces on my shoes.“Why aren’t you in class?” I asked.“Do you have any idea what I just walked in on?” Jace continued to yell at me, even though I didn’t know what the hell crawled up his ass and died.“No, but I am sure you are going to enlighten me.” Not looking up from my shoes, I turned my attention to tying my other shoe.“Those little thugs you sent after Izariah, were about to rape her!” Jace stomped into the room, planting himself directly in front of me.That had my attention. My eyes snapped up and I was filled with anger. Even my wolf was on the verge of pushing through to force me to shift. Restraining my wolf, I stood
Braxton- “What are you doing home from school?" My mother’s tone was cold, but her eyes were colder. “The question is why are you here?” I asked as I walked past her and into the house. I didn’t have a good relationship with my mother, mostly because the only thing she cared about was her image. This is assumably the only reason she is scolding me right now. I would bet money on it. “Don’t try to change the subject and don’t walk away from me while I am talking to you.” Rolling my eyes as I kept walking, I slung my bag off my shoulder and tossed it to the butler that was standing near a small table in the middle of the foyer. I ignored her because I knew it annoyed her. Walking down the hall to the grand kitchen, I passed by the cook that was busy cooking. Since I didn’t alert the staff that I would be coming in today, it was likely my mother, that had the staff come in. Unless someone was present in the house, the only staff we kept available at all times was a maid and a few wa
Izariah-Surprisingly, I managed to avoid running into anyone for the rest of the day, which was until the next day during the class, where I had been forced to sit between Braxton and Jace on the first day. When I walked into the class, I didn’t see any of the members of the Ace of Clubs. It made me wonder if they weren’t going to be in class today.Heading up to the row of seats that I sit in, I kept my gaze low, because by now everyone was whispering about what happened to me yesterday. Reaching my row, I made my way toward my seat and before I could sit down, someone jumped over the back row and right into the seat I was supposed to sit in.Looking up, I gasped when I saw that it was Jace. He didn’t say anything to me, nor did he look at me. His eyes were focused on the front of the class.“I...” I tried to speak but was quickly cut off when Braxton arrived on the other side of Jace.“That is her seat.” He said in a low tone, but there was a hint of a growl mixed in it.“I feel li
Izariah-“Does everyone have their tickets?” The professor asked the entire class after he handed them out.It was now Friday and while not much had happened these last few days, I now had a feeling that something was going to go terribly wrong. Braxton has ignored me since I left the classroom, he tried talking to me in. If I didn’t know better, I would have thought he had decided to leave me alone.I caught him glancing at me, but he would quickly look away when I looked in his direction. His leaving me alone didn’t seem as simple, no matter how nice it was not to be harassed by him. The only one that hasn’t straight ignored me was Jace, but he only just gave me a small smile and that was it.“Sir, why do only a selective few get first-class? There are more seats in first class than six.” A student from the third-row seats asked.“Are you paying for this trip?” The Professor asked and then brushed the student off as he continued. “As I told everyone during our last class, we would b
