Chapter 16

Vanessa's POV

My heart was racing as I climbed the stairs to my room, my breath coming in short gasps. I was feeling a mix of emotions: sadness, and confusion. Why did the alpha have to be so rude to me? I was perplexed at the sudden change of emotions in Alpha Dante, one moment he was sweet with me, and the next he suddenly became cold which left me wondering if I had done anything wrong.

I let out a deep sigh as I made my way back to my room. Maybe if I could just get away from the situation for a moment, I could clear my head and figure out what had just happened. I entered the room, closing the door behind me. The silence was deafening, and I felt overwhelmed by the stillness. I sank down onto the bed, my head spinning. I tried to focus on the moment, on the here and now, but my thoughts kept racing back to the alpha and what had happened. Then I remembered the guard coming over to talk about a witch, was that what spoilt his mood?
