After dinner, the group decided not to head to the hot springs immediately. They needed time for their food to digest. Given Aiden’s condition, Amy and the children stayed in his room to pass the time. “Mr. Lewis, can you watch a movie with us?” the children asked with pleading eyes. After Aiden agreed to it, Nolan found a suitable movie for them. Amy sat beside Aiden, and they all watched the film together. Once the movie ended, they prepared to go to the hot springs. Aiden took Night with him, while Amy went with Star to the opposite side. The hot spring pools were separated by a wooden wall, which allowed for some privacy but still facilitated conversation. It was a thoughtful design by the hotel. With her hair wrapped up, Amy slowly helped Star into the warm water. “Mommy, this water feels so nice,” Star said. Her eyes seemed to be filled with wonder as she looked around. Amy guided her toward a part of the pool with an artificial rock formation and smiled. “Does it
Hearing Star’s concerned cries, Aiden once again called out to them from the other side, “What happened?” “It’s nothing,” Amy tried to dismiss it, as she did not want to worry him. However, as she attempted to move, the sharp pain in her ankle made her gasp and nearly caused her to lose her balance. Star quickly steadied her and said, “Mommy, you can’t walk anymore. Your ankle will get worse.” In pain and feeling embarrassed, Amy tried to reassure Star. But before she could speak, Star called out to Aiden, “Mr. Lewis, can you help my mommy? Her ankle is swollen, and she can’t walk.” Almost immediately, Aiden responded, “I’m coming.” Hearing the sounds of movement, Amy panicked. She was only wrapped in a towel, so she quickly looked around. She spotted another towel on a nearby rack and hurriedly wrapped it around herself for extra coverage. Just as she did that, Aiden, who was dressed in a bathrobe, arrived with Night. They both looked equally concerned. As they walked in
As Aiden massaged her, his gaze intensified. However, Amy did not notice it. At this moment, all her attention was on her ankle because it hurt so much. She gripped her towel tightly but could not help letting out a muffled groan. “Urgh. It hurts…” “Hang in there. It’ll be better soon,” Aiden reassured her in a hoarse voice. Amy’s cheeks turned red, as she felt embarrassed by the sound she had made. She nodded and bit her lip to stay silent. Seeing Amy in pain, Night and Star each took one of her hands. “Don’t be afraid, Mommy. We’re here with you.” “Just hold on, Mommy. It’ll pass soon.” Their comforting words touched Amy, and the pain in her ankle became more bearable. After about five minutes, Aiden stopped massaging her ankle. “That should make it better,” he said before gently placing her foot on the couch. Amy was sweating a little after enduring all that pain. Feeling the cool sensation on her leg, she looked at him gratefully. “Thank you, Mr. Lewis.” “
Night and Star had been very well-behaved from a young age. Perhaps they seemed so mature for their age because they did not have a father. They only started acting like typical children when Aiden was around. At that thought, Amy suddenly paused. She realized that this might not be good. Her children clearly treated Aiden differently, and if things continued, they might start to misunderstand his role in their lives. She frowned slightly and wondered if she should keep more of a distance from Aiden after they returned. While she was considering this, she saw Night approaching Aiden. “Mr. Lewis, I have something to tell you.” “What is it?” Aiden looked at him curiously. Even Amy turned her attention to them. Unexpectedly, Night handed his phone to Aiden. “Your company developed this game, right? I noticed that it lags slightly at a certain part, which affects the gaming experience. When the skills aren’t released on time, the monsters are able to kill the character.”
Westview Resort was a vacation destination that the Lewis family had spent years developing, and it had just been completed. This was no secret in Cloud City. Knowing that Aiden would surely visit the resort on the opening day, she had planned on getting a voucher from Rose. She wanted to use this opportunity to get closer to Aiden at the resort. However, she never expected Aiden to visit the resort so early and even bring Amy along. “Why did he bring that woman? Why?” Cassie tightened her grip on her phone and furrowed her brows. She could not understand it. Or rather, she dared not delve too deeply into it. It was impossible for Aiden to prefer a single mother over her, right? Although Cassie found this unlikely, she did not want to remain passive any longer. No matter what, she had to find a way to stop Aiden from getting closer to that woman. With that in mind, she put her phone away and looked for Eliza. “Mom, are you asleep?” She knocked on the door. After a momen
Rose frowned and questioned him, “Why is she there with you?” At the same time, she wondered if Aiden was getting too close to Amy. Being perceptive, she quickly connected the dots and realized that something was amiss. She finally understood why Eliza had asked her for a voucher. The Jackson family must have already known about this. Right then, Rose saw through Cassie’s little scheme. She could also tell that Cassie was somewhat calculating. However, this did not bother her. It could be detrimental to be too naive in their social circle. She was more concerned about whether Aiden was being too friendly with Amy. “Aiden, be honest with me. What’s really going on between you and Miss Green?” There was a slight flicker in Aiden’s eyes when he heard his mother’s question. He knew that she had misunderstood the situation, but he remained calm. “Miss Green suggested that bathing in the hot springs would benefit my health. I thought it best to bring her along just in case.”
Aiden took the two children to a nearby playground. The resort had designed it out of consideration for families with children. While it was small, it had all the latest equipment. The children went wild with excitement, but they did not forget to interact with Aiden from time to time. “Mr. Lewis, look at me!” Star called out to Aiden as she played on the equipment. Her voice was full of joy. Even Night showed a rare glimpse of his childlike side. When Aiden saw their bright smiles, he took out his phone and snapped a few photos of them. Only after about two hours of fun did they finally head back reluctantly. Star held Aiden’s hand and her face beamed with happiness. “Mr. Lewis, this place is so much fun. I love it here. Night, do you like it?” “I do. We can come back when Mommy has the time,” Night replied with bright eyes. Aiden was pleased to see how much they enjoyed the playground, but he said nothing. When they returned to the lobby, he called for the manager.
After some time, Nolan brought a female attendant over to help Amy pack her luggage. About half an hour later, they finished packing and headed down the mountain. When they arrived home, Mrs. Harper was shocked to see Aiden carrying Amy. “What happened?” “I’m fine. I just accidentally twisted my ankle.” Knowing that Mrs. Harper was worried, Amy held her hand and gave a brief explanation. Mrs. Harper got worked up as she listened to Amy’s story. “How could you be so careless?” She glared at Amy but did not forget to thank Aiden. “Mr. Lewis, thank you for bringing Amy back.” “It’s nothing. You’re welcome.” Aiden smiled before he said, “Miss Green, do spend the next couple of days resting and recovering at home.” Amy nodded. After Aiden bade the children goodbye, he left. Night and Star reluctantly saw him off at the door. They were not willing to go back inside even after he was out of their sight. They just stared longingly at the elevator. Mrs. Harper found
