“Contestants round three is about to begin please enter the arena and shift to your wolves,” the robotic voice crackled through the speaker by the camera startling me awake as a puff of air escaped as the stone cement wall transformed into a door sliding open to reveal the dense forest and heat. The lights flickered as I scrambled out of bed, my hands to my ears to stop the infernal ringing. Each decibel increased until my ears throbbed with the ringing inside my head. They were forcing us to shift.

My wolf was howling in my head. Desperate to escape and be let loose, the siren was a whistle at this point calling her out. I crawled along the floor to the door opening. My legs began to break as fur spouted in place of my soft skin. My claws pinged my nails off as they flew across the room. I have shifted many times and today comes as close to my first shift as I can remember. The sound pierces through me, causing her to writhe and wriggle rather than just come forth. The first
