For three days, I worked with Judy. My hair was thinly close to coming out of my scalp and it was all because of her. She barely let me breathe. I was working morning till night, going over financial records of Elise Industries from decades ago, decades when everything was filed analogically. I didn’t even bother wearing heels to work. I stopped crying at some point and picked up my system. I couldn’t go to bed when Jared needed rest and I didn’t want to disturb him either. Instead, I decided to work on the files. My eyes were puffy and definitely bloodshot but I had to push through. There was too much work and I knew I wasn’t getting any sleep soon. I’d fallen asleep in the study after locking myself up and cried myself into exhaustion. I had also managed to wake up extremely late.
