Here they are finally, her damnable lips that I craved to kiss so much.

I wasn't blind. She obviously wanted to be kissed too, judging from her body language and her blushing face, but I stopped myself and retreated my hand instead.

'Not in this place...' I convinced myself. 'Not inside a hospital. Our first kiss can't be inside a hospital. Rayna deserves better. She deserves more.'

"I didn't lie to you, Rayna. And I especially didn't influence your father to persuade you. He did it on his own. He must have seen the advantages of you employed to me than you serving the army," I diverted my attention to her query instead.

I was taken aback when she pointed out my lie: the fact that I was standing now and not needing the wheelchair.
