Grey was seated in the study room engrossed in one of the books that were on the shelves when Vivian walked in. He did not lift his head, from the book in his face, to spare a glance at the intruder. "Everyone knows that when I'm in here, I do not like to be disturbed," he said, as he turned to another page of the book. "C'mon, Grey, are you keeping that policy?" Vivian spoke, and Grey became aware it was her, and yet, he did not raise his head to look in her direction. "It is my privacy, Vivian," he replied to her, as she sat on the chair opposite him, and sighed. "Are you still mad at me?" She asked him. "Is there a need to be?" He replied her question with a question. She stared at him, wanting to so badly reach out to him with a single touch, but she knew it would make zero impact him, rather, she could get a cold stare, just like the lots she had gotten while growing up around him. "Yes," she said, as she exhaled.
The neighing of Colan broke the camaraderie between them, and Grey looked up from Maya, as he let her down. Maya nervously rearranged herself, as she was putting on a dress."Why were you riding Colan, and not Cilantro?" Grey asked her."Jack said she was ill, and was being attended to, and I just wanted to mount a horse," Maya explained."I'm so sorry, alpha. I should have not allowed her ride Colan," Jack hurriedly apologized."I should have you punished. You are well aware of Colan's wild state, and yet, you made her ride on him. What if she had been hurt?" Grey demanded in a controlled anger."It's my fault, don't blame him," Maya said, trying to defend Jack."Take him away," Grey said, waving Jack aside, and Jack held Colan's reins and walked away.Maya stood in front of Grey, wondering what he would do next. "If you want to ride a horse so bad, you'll have to wait till Cilantro gets better. You're yet to maste
Grey stared at Maya, his eyes fixed on hers, and full of questions. "What did you just say?" He asked her.Maya swallowed. "I don't...want to be your wife," she said nervously. Afraid that her voice might give her away, she looked down."You do not have a choice in this matter," he said, placing his hands on the rail of the balcony, and she was caged by his body. She gulped nervously. "I'm not going to marry you," she said to him, and a sudden confidence boosted inside of her, and she raised her eyes up in defiance."What gives you the confidence that you won't?" He inquired, with a raised brow."You asked me to marry you, and I'm objecting to it," she replied. He dropped his hands from the rails, twirling her hair around with his index finger. "That is where you are mistaken, brown eyes. I'm not asking you to marry me, I'm telling you to. It's more like an order," he said with a dead serious look on his face."And what
"Uh?" Maya asked, stupefied by Vivian's words.Vivian inhaled, and stared at Maya. "I've been in the wrong, Maya. I've judged you without getting to know you. I thought you were only an omega seeking fame, but, everyday, you prove me wrong, and I feel disgusted with myself for thinking you're not fit to be Luna, and ridiculing you. I'm sincerely sorry," she said apologetically to Maya.Maya stared at her, still surprised by the apology she was getting from Vivian. Was it not this same woman two days ago that threatened to put a bullet in between her eyes? Why was she apologizing to her? "Please forgive me," Vivian said again, an hint of sincerity in her voice."Uhm.. okay?" Maya said, quite unsure of what response it was best to give her. She was totally confused by this strange behavior, and apology.Vivian smiled. "Thank you," she said, and her eyes connected with Grey. His lips twitched up for a smile, but he immediately replaced it a
Grey's eyes held a calm still look, but, beneath that gaze, Maya knew, lied a dangerous man who was acting composed before her, and his beta.Maya shrugged. "I wasn't..." She began, and Grey interrupted her."To escape?" He asked her, daring her to lie, as he kept maintaining that composed demeanor before her. It was too calm for her not to be worried about what he was thinking, or what he was going to do to her.She stared at him, squaring her shoulders. "As a matter of fact, I was trying to escape," she said in an unfaltering confidence which she feared would have her in one of those cauldrons she imagines he has hidden somewhere in the pack house. His expression did not change, and neither did his demeanor. "Do you have a problem with me?" He asked her.The question took her aback. She was expecting anything but that. Her heart pummeled rapidly against her chest as she stared at him. His eyes held hers in a steadfast tendency
He was too close, too close that she wanted to run away.As she tried to lower her head to quickly escape from the left side, he placed his hand on the wall, caging her in, and she heaved, the rise and fall of her chest distracted him for a second. He regained his self control, lowered his head, and leaned his mouth closer to her ear. "Remember what I said to you the last time?" He asked her huskily. His voice was being affected by his closeness to her. "That If you try anything funny, I'll have your body laying down on that bed in the room with your legs wide opened," he reminded her, with his breath caressing her earlobe, and her body tensed as a shiver went down her spine. He placed a kiss on her ear, and Maya's throat went dry, as he trailed kisses down her neck. "Please," she found herself pleading as her voice suddenly turned cracked.Grey lifted his head from her neck. "Are you afraid?" He asked, searching into her eyes for any hint of fear
"Do not ask me that," Riley retorted, her head spinning. The news of Maya's wedding was infuriating her.Killian let the pieces of the invitation card fall down on his feet, as he bridged the gap between him and Riley. "Why worry too much, dear? This is probably just formalities," Killian said, holding her by the waist, knowing that she was upset about the invitation. "Let go of me," Riley said, flinging his hands away, and moving to the other side as she eyed him with disdain.Killian sighed. "This could be a cover up for the real act Grey intends to do with her, Riley," he said, trying to pacify her thoughts."Is that what you think?" She inquired. "If so, why didn't he just do it without distributing invitation cards. I'm sure we're not the only one that got invited," she added, fuming in anger."We all know he gets his strength and power from the blood of women. The rumors have been verified true. Soon, he'll use her too. He must be
Gwen's eyes were filled with sympathy for Maya, and Maya shook her head refusing to accept the pity she was getting from Gwen. "No, please. I'm not telling you this so you'll feel sympathy for me. I do not open to anyone, but I really cannot tell why I'm opening up to you. I just feel kind of connected to you in a way that I can't explain," Maya explained to her.Gwen held her hand. "So do I, Luna. Right from the day I set my eyes on you in the alpha's room, I felt drawn towards you. You can confide in me any day Luna, and if I may be of help in any way, please, do not hesitate to reach out to me," Gwen replied, her eyes shimmering. Maya smiled, and placed her hand over Gwen's own, and nodded. "And about the pack members, do not worry about them. They won't be able to harm you," Gwen assured her.Maya was puzzled. "Why do you say so?" She asked."I've seen the way the alpha looks at you, Luna. A look of protectiveness. I'm very sure he'll ensure the pack m
