LPR 2

It was not customary to visit the cemetery at ten o'clock at night. Wade was well aware of that, but there was nothing he could do to quell the burning desire in his heart that had been simmering all day. So as soon as the jet that was taking him on a cross-country trip landed at the airport, he rushed off.

Wade didn't come empty-handed. He brought a bouquet of white lilies, knowing they were Gloria's favorite flowers. He smiled and placed the flowers on Gloria's grave.

"Forgive me, Gloria," Wade said, taking a deep breath to ease the heaviness in his chest. "I'm sorry I'm late. I hope you won't be angry with me."

Silence enveloped him, accompanied by the emptiness that kept him company in his loneliness. With no one by his side, he felt the emptiness that made him think. He stood still in the light of the full moon that illuminated the scene. Strangely, the darkness that nested in his heart remained undisturbed.

The cold night air moved slowly, creating waves of icy wind. Its caress made his body shiver, as if it seeped into his bones and merged with the grief that filled the depths of his soul.

The silence grew thicker, creating a poignant view of the cemetery, as if to intensify the sense of loss. The shadows of the trees, groaning in the moonlight, darkened the atmosphere, reminding Wade of the loneliness that had been his constant companion.

The rustling of leaves, disturbed by the night wind, woke Wade from his unspoken grief. He blinked once, then tried to suppress the feeling of loss as best he could. Then he rose and left Gloria's grave, uttering a promise for the last time. I will watch over them for you, Gloria. You don't need to worry. I will take care of Estelle.

Wade got into his car, and moments later he was on his way to Estelle's house. Thanks to the promise he had made, his desire to see Estelle became unstoppable. Estelle's face, which had filled his mind during the entire flight, became clearer in his mind.

Wade couldn't deny his great concern for Estelle. He knew how much Estelle loved Gloria, especially after the loss of Roland. Now there was one question that filled his mind. Was Estelle okay?

Wade was almost at Estelle's house when he noticed a strange sight. Estelle was driving her car despite the late hour. His concern became overwhelming. He couldn't let Estelle go like that, so he decided to follow her discreetly.

Throughout the trip, Wade's only hope was that Estelle would be okay. However, reality seemed to disagree. From a distance, he had glimpsed Estelle's condition, which contradicted his hopes; she appeared disheveled and distraught. He concluded that Estelle was truly devastated by Gloria's death.

Wade breathed a sigh of relief when he realized that Estelle was on her way to Kiara's apartment. However, the relief was short-lived when he noticed something strange. Why was Estelle going to Kiara's house alone? Why wasn't Lennon with her? And where were the guards who were supposed to be with her?

Various questions made Wade feel uneasy. His focus shifted momentarily as he pondered some plausible answers to these questions, and suddenly something unexpected happened, causing his life to seemingly detach from his body.

Estelle's car had been brutally hit. The car was thrown several feet and overturned several times.

Wade's body suddenly felt cold. His hands trembled as he tried to unbuckle the seatbelt, but a strange sight made him blink.

Estelle managed to get out of the car. She tried to move away from her badly damaged car, while in the opposite direction, several cars were on alert, one of which was the car that had hit her.

A feeling of unease made Wade decide not to unbuckle his seat belt. Instead, a bad possibility made him immediately accelerate the car again at high speed. They were aiming for Estelle's life.

Wade's face hardened. He gritted his teeth and gripped the wheel as tightly as he could. His foot pressed down harder on the gas pedal, and his eyes stared sharply at the car headed for Estelle.

The collision happened. The car was thrown. Wade growled and stopped the car immediately. He got out and turned to Estelle, who called his name softly.

"Wade."

At that moment, Wade's heart's desire was to get to Estelle and make sure she was okay. He needed to know that Estelle was all right. However, he realized that the situation was not completely safe yet.

So, Wade turned around, and his hunch was right. Several people were getting out of the suspicious cars. There were ten of them, and their gestures signaled something ominous to Wade.

Who were they? Why were they after Estelle?

Because just one look was enough for Wade to know that they weren't ordinary people, more specifically, they weren't ordinary werewolves. They seemed to be trained and had a deadly aura.

However, Wade was not afraid at all. When it came to being trained and having a deadly aura, he was no inferior to anyone in the world.

Wade ran with clenched fists. He roared fiercely and punched the nearest attacker. The first attacker was thrown back, but he quickly got up and attacked Wade again in wolf form.

Wade quickly dodged. He jumped back and quickly realized that the ten attackers had turned into wolves. A grin appeared on his face. He ran, then leaped, and when his feet touched the ground again, he did so in wolf form as well.

The body of Wade's wolf form was large and sturdy. His fur was silver in color, radiating a cold and deadly aura in all directions. The air was tinged with piercing cold, causing many of the wolves to growl in anticipation.

Wade howled long into the darkness of the night, as if giving a last warning. But the wolves paid no attention. Instead, they became even more eager to attack Wade.

The battle between Wade and the wolves was inevitable. They leapt and collided. Claws and fangs were ready, gleaming in the light of the full moon.

On the other hand, Estelle, who witnessed the battle, could do nothing. She was concerned for Wade's safety, but her condition prevented her from participating in the fight. Not only had she just been in an accident, but she didn't want to risk the life growing in her womb.

But Estelle wasn't out of ideas. She quickly returned to the car and struggled to get her purse. She took out her cell phone, intending to call Wade's personal assistant named Rocky Standish.

Estelle bit her lower lip to suppress the trembling that made her fingers momentarily unfocused. She dialed Rocky's number and the call was connected. She waited for him to answer, her heart pounding.

"Hello, Estelle. A—"

Estelle immediately cut Rocky off. "Wade and I are being attacked by unknown wolves, Rocky. Please come quickly. Wade is outnumbered. He—"

The phone was knocked out of her hand and Estelle let out a scream. Her body swayed and she fell to the floor. She closed her eyes for a moment as the world seemed to spin around her.

Estelle opened her eyes ten seconds later to find a wolf approaching her. She struggled to get up. Her situation was dire and she had no choice. She pushed away the pain that enveloped her entire body and prepared to transform into the wolf.

But the wolf didn't give Estelle a chance to concentrate. It pounced on her immediately. Its front legs sunk sharp claws into Estelle's chest at just the right moment.

Estelle was thrown to the ground. Her head hit a rock. She moaned in pain and the wolf took full advantage of the opportunity.

The wolf's jaws opened. Now it went for Estelle's throat. It intended to sever the artery there, but suddenly her body was thrown high into the air.

The wolf whimpered, and as its body floated in the air, it was struck in the stomach. They were sharp fangs that tore mercilessly into its flesh. When it landed on the ground, its intestines were scattered everywhere. It died instantly.

Wade gasped. He approached Estelle, and a sense of relief allowed him to breathe again. Estelle was obviously injured, but she would be fine. That was what he thought.

Now, nothing was more important to Wade than ending the fight as quickly as possible. He didn't want to risk Estelle's condition. So, he immediately ran and attacked the remaining wolves.

Wade displayed remarkable speed and strength. His claws, bites, and lunges alternated with deadly precision. His movements were amazing, a combination of grace and courage. It didn't take long for him to defeat all of the wolves.

As the battle ended, Wade noticed the arrival of a familiar car. He immediately changed back to his human form, and the driver of the car, whom he recognized, got out and greeted him.

"Sir."

Wade swallowed. "Take care of this mess, Rocky. Then follow me to the hospital. Estelle had an accident. So don't forget to contact Alaric," he murmured with a bitterness that was palpable in his throat. "Lennon needs to know that Estelle had an accident."

Rocky nodded. "Yes, sir."

Wade ran and approached Estelle. He helped her to her feet. "Come on, we need to get to the hospital now."

A heavy sensation gripped Estelle's legs. Not because she couldn't walk anymore, but because everything was still too vivid in her memory—that Wade was the cause of all her darkest suffering.

Wade, however, seemed to interpret Estelle's hesitation differently. He thought Estelle was deeply shaken by the incident. So, he didn't think twice about carrying Estelle.

Estelle's eyes widened. She was surprised and reflexively wrapped her arms around Wade's neck. "W-Wade! What are you doing?"

Wade replied clearly. "Taking you to the hospital."

When they arrived at the hospital, Estelle was unconscious. The paramedics attended to Estelle immediately, while Wade could only wait with concern.

Time passed. Estelle was taken to the recovery room. By this time, Wade had asked the attending doctor about Estelle's condition.

"She's fine. She didn't suffer any serious injuries, just scratches. She may be in shock when she wakes up, but that's normal."

Wade breathed a sigh of relief and started to express his gratitude, but the doctor's next words left him stunned.

"Also, her pregnancy is fine. I'll take my leave."

Wade froze. He let the doctor leave without a word. His world seemed to stop spinning as this information echoed through his mind. Estelle is pregnant? He and Lennon are about to become parents.

Suddenly Wade felt as if he couldn't breathe. He was suffocating. He also felt an excruciating pain relentlessly squeezing his heart. He quickly left the patient's room in search of a more spacious place to suppress the pain in his heart.

"Sir."

Wade blinked. He tried to calm himself as he turned around. Rocky was approaching him. "What is it?"

"I've carried out all your orders, but Sir Lennon won't come to the hospital."

Wade's eyes widened. "What did you say? He won't come to the hospital? Did you tell him that Estelle had an accident and was attacked?"

"I did, sir," Rocky replied confidently. "I informed Alaric, but this is the answer I got."

"Weird."

Wade didn't doubt Rocky. As his personal assistant, Rocky was the person he trusted most. Not without reason, because Rocky was indeed reliable. The only thing that confused him now was how Lennon could behave like this towards Estelle.

It seemed that "strange" was an understatement to describe Wade's confusion at that moment. Without further ado, he pulled his cell phone out of his pocket. He called Lennon, ignoring the fact that they hadn't spoken in years.

The call connected. Wade waited, and his call was answered shortly after. "Hello."

"Hello, Uncle. I assume you're calling me about Estelle. Am I right?"

Wade frowned. He could sense something different in Lennon's tone, something that made all his senses alert. "Yes, that's why I'm calling you. And?"

"So, hasn't Alaric already informed Rocky? I'm not coming to the hospital and you want to know why?"

"Why are you ignoring Estelle, Lennon? She's your luna."

Lennon laughed. "She's not my luna anymore, Uncle."

Wade's expression changed. "What do you mean?"

"She's not my luna anymore. We're separated. So, whatever happens to her is no longer my concern," Lennon replied casually. "On the contrary, isn't Estelle your responsibility now?"

"What do you mean, Lennon?"

"I mean you should at least take responsibility for Estelle's unborn baby."

This time Wade's face went pale. "Ba-baby?"

Lennon laughed again. "You think I don't know what you two did at my birthday party two months ago? Hah. I really didn't expect this from you, Uncle. It turns out that you're the kind of person who likes to sleep with his niece's wife. You're really immoral."

Wade couldn't say anything. Everything was swirling around in his head. Starting with Estelle's bad condition, then Estelle's cold attitude towards him, and the fact that Estelle was now pregnant with their baby.

Wade dramatically closed his eyes. "Is that why you're not with her anymore?"

"Would you still want to be with her if you were in my position?"

Wade couldn't answer.

"Well, I think everything is pretty clear now, and I wish you both a happy life together, Uncle."

After that, the call ended. Lennon ended the call unilaterally. Now Wade stood still for a moment.

Rocky waited a while before deciding to speak. "Sir?"

Wade blinked. He took a deep breath to calm himself from all the unexpected things that had happened. "You're right, Rocky. Lennon isn't coming."

Rocky didn't say anything, especially since Wade was getting up soon. He went to the patient's room where Estelle was. He entered and his eyes widened.

"Estelle!"
