EVA'S POV
“Eva it's your turn please.” The tour guide repeated for the third time. After walking on that scary canopy bridge, Adam brought me to the Zipline Center. For the past thirty minutes, all I've been doing is watching people fly down the Zipline, but it did nothing to ease my anxiety.Suddenly, I felt an overpowering body heat from behind, and Adam was speaking into my ear.“What, Sweetheart? We've not even gotten to the highest peak and you are cowering already?”Spinning around, I threw him a glare, knowing very well he was trying to provoke me. “How many people have died from ziplining?”The guide, looking startled by the question, seemed to scramble for words, but it was Adam who answered my question. “Well, I can't know the exact number, but some have died. Usually when the belt or the clip pulley snaps.”“Adam!” The tour guide looked at Adam chastisingly. “Eva, this place is as safe as it can get. Trust me on that. Besides, this is the lowest of the ziplines.”“You know what, I'll just go first.” Adam said, sidestepping me. “Meet me there.”And before I could protest he was standing in front, waiting for his harness to be strapped onto the rope. The tour guide threw me a look, shrugged, and then clipped Adam in. The man didn't waste any time, and he was soon off the ground, zipping down the inclined rope without a care in the world. The excitement I sensed about him prompted me to finally try, to not let my fears keep me from doing what every instinct pounding through my flesh was urging me to.The tour guide turned to me, but I was stepping forward before she could speak. “I'm ready, Janet.”“Well, it was about time.” A warm smile touched the good-natured tour guide's lips.Within thirty seconds, I was soon clipped onto the rope, and before I could lose the nerve, I threw myself down the zipline. I screamed, expecting the belt to snap at any moment as I held on to it, blood rushing through my ears.Realizing my fear was not forthcoming, I finally allowed myself to let go of the belt. Suddenly, I felt like I was flying, my heart pounding excitedly as air rushed against my face.By the time I got to the endpoint where Adam stood waiting with his camera, taking pictures of me, I felt invigorated to do it all over again.“Oh my God, that was...”“I know.” He brought his camera down, and we both said at the same time, “...so much fun.”We burst out laughing. ➽───────────────❥“You were right. They do make some pretty good salmon steak. Wow.” I commented as we stepped out of the eatery where we'd gone to have our dinner.Adam cast me one of his bored looks. “Why, I've never been accused of having poor taste.”I cocked my head, giving him a mock exasperated look as we started down the pathwalk that led to where he'd parked his Harley. “Did someone tell you you'll die without a day of being cocky? Jeez.”He chuckled, peeling off his lips from his pearly white teeth. “Something like that.”“Yeah right.” I muttered, and when we were about a metre away from the Harley, held him back by the elbow.A questioning brow rose at me. “What, Sweetheart?”“Why are you so desperate to go home?” I titled my head, giving him a pouty look. The day had been extremely fun, and I hadn't even realized when time had flown by. But I still wasn't ready to call it a night.“Let's go clubbing or something.”“Really?” He rolled his eyes, and I nodded earnestly. He finally sighed. “Okay, fine.”Adam walked towards his Harley Davidson motorbike and swung his thigh across it to sit down before turning to look at me. “Hop on, sweetheart.”Unlike in the morning, I found myself looking forward to the ride. I quickly hopped on behind him.I slipped my arms around him like he'd taught me to do, not because I needed to, but because it was the perfect excuse to feel his abs which were bulging hard despite the jacket he was wearing.“So tell me, Wild One. Where can we have a wild time?”“Now that's a pretty loaded question, don't you think?” His voice rang with a wicked timbre, the sexual insinuation not lost on me. “I'll take you right there.” The growl of the engine and the vibration of the seat was shockingly sensual, sending a jolt right through my sex. Jeez, when did I turn into such a horny woman?Adam maneuvered the bike onto the street, and we were soon riding past the fast-dissipating crowd.Adam rode us to a bar in the middle of town. When he stopped and I got down, I looked at the glowing words pasted just above the door which read 'Roxie's Club.”Adam went to park the bike somewhere safe. As I waited for him in front of the bar, a guy who was walking past suddenly stopped and let his gaze wander over me, practically undressing me with his eyes.I scowled at him, and that seemed to send the message. He scurried off into the bar and I was grateful. I didn't want the fun time I'd anticipated at the bar to start with me jamming my knee into some random guy's balls.Adam returned, and we strode into the establishment together, past the bouncer who was too busy pinning a blonde to the wall. The view the hallway offered had me pausing.People were pinning each other to the wall, clawing at their clothes, and looking like they could do it right there.Adam placed his hand on my waist, too damn close to my ass as he led me deeper into the room. With the disco lights bouncing off everywhere and people of all sexualities dancing and grinding lewdly on the dancefloor or kissing furiously in the corners, the place spelled nothing but 'sin.'“Wow, this is quite a place.” I told Adam, having to shout over the forte music blaring from unseen speakers.“Yep.” Grabbing my hand, he began pulling me past the dancefloor.“Where are we going?”“Getting us some shots to set the mood.”We stopped in front of the long bar counter, and Adam flashed the barmaid his killer smile which always made my stomach tumble.“A shot of whiskey for me, Mia.” He said to the barmaid, then turned to me. “What will you have?”“The same." I answered. He looked at the barmaid. “Make it two, Mia. Thanks.”Mia, seeming startled out of her staring daze, scrambled to serve the order. Adam grabbed one of the glasses, downing the stiff drink in one gulp without batting an eye.Wanting to impress him, I grabbed mine, took it in one gulp, and regretted it instantly. The hard liquor burned my throat, making my eyes water and causing me to cough furiously.Adam leaned over, flashing me an amused grin. “Useful advice: never drink to impress.”“Ah, thank you for your generosity.” I said sarcastically, rolling my eyes. I froze when I caught Mia staring daggers at me, her eyes all but saying 'he's mine, bitch.'Before I could let out a laugh, I grabbed Adam's hand after he'd paid and tugged him towards the dancefloor. “What's her problem?”Adam grimaced, shrugging. “I made the mistake of sleeping with her once and she wants more.”“In other words, you're claiming to be addictive?”“More than the word, sweetheart.”I didn't know whether it was because of the whisky I'd just gulped, but as soon as we got to the dancefloor, I began swivelling and shaking my butt rather sultrily to the upbeat rock song playing, feeling heady and excited.Hands slipped around my waist, startling me as the owner aligned our bodies together. I tilted my head, wondering whether I was going to be dealing with a jackass, until I saw that it was Adam. I melted against him instantly. He moved with me as I continued shaking my body. He pressed his crotch against my ass, subjecting me to the hardness in his pants, making me gasp. His lips were instantly at my ear. “Has anyone told you you look extremely fuckable when you dance like that?” Instead of offending me, his crude words only increased the moisture that was gathering between my thighs, especially when he held my waist more firmly and grinded his erection against me.“And I certainly want to fuck the hell out of you.” He rasped.I shivered. “No strings attached?”“Yes.”“Why, Adam. I've already told you that I only have meaningful sex.” I said teasingly. He growled in my ear. “Your body is surely telling me a whole different tale. You want me to fuck the hell out of you, and you know it, sweetheart.”Oh God, yes. He was right. And I was beginning to question my main intent for wanting us to go clubbing. “You know you never really told me the rules for the no-strings-attached thing.” I said breathlessly.“Never fuck a friend, never fuck a friend's friend, never share secrets, no cuddling or sleepovers whatsoever, never fuck someone who looks like they can fall in love with you...”“Looks like?” I chuckled. “Love can catch anyone off guard. Just wait till it happens to you.”He snorted. “Never will.”Oh, so he didn't believe in love? No wonder he only does no-strings-attached.Before I could ask him why he firmly squeezed my hips–a very potent distraction. I managed to swerve around to face him, feeling breathless and too damn aroused. “What do you say, Eva?" He leaned his forehead against mine, his breaths fanning my lips. “You want me to fuck you. Stop fighting it.”Oh God, I couldn't believe I was really considering giving in to him. But he looked so damn fuckable too, and I wanted him badly. How would it feel for him to take me to the nearest washroom and fuck me senseless?“Don't look at me like that.” His voice vibrated with a warning which spoke volumes. “Like what?” I asked, swiping my tongue over my lips.“Like you want me to take you to the nearest washroom and fuck you against the nearest wall.”My body warmed with heat and need, and I met his searing gaze head-on. “Wild One, take me to the nearest washroom.”Thank you so much for reading up to this point. AUTHOR'S POV Adam instantly grabbed Eva's hand, tugging her along with him. Shivers of anticipation run down her spine as they walked through the dancefloor, heading for the bathroom.God, she'd never felt so daring, so wild. Sex in a bathroom had never been on her to-do list. But Adam had unleashed the risk-taking side of her which had been buried all this time. Heck, she'd never wanted a man as much as she wanted Adam Garcia. And she didn't want to think about just what that could mean. Not now.Right now, she only wanted to give in to her ever-growing lust for him, to the need to have him inside her, the fire that burned so clearly between them. All she had to do was not catch feelings for him, then she could return to LA like nothing had happened. How hard can it be?Eva didn't even notice when they entered a washroom until Adam banged the door shut and backed her against the wall, eliciting a startled gasp from her mouth. His bulge pressed against her stomach, his brown eyes b
Adam stared at the ceiling in his room, his guts twisting with disgust at himself for how roughly he'd treated Eva. He'd taken her with too much sexual aggression, and he was now somber enough to acknowledge that. What the hell had he been thinking? No, he hadn't been thinking. At least not with the head sitting on his neck. He'd just been so entranced with Eva, the overwhelming need to drive inside her that there'd been no room for any other thought. And when after their orgasms, he'd turned to face her while resting on his side, felt an itching need to reach out and caress her, to stroke her cheeks tenderly with his thumb, the bit of nonsexual emotion streaming through him had been enough to make him bolt out of the room even before he'd recovered from his orgasm. He'd never done anything like that before. Even though he always made sure to enforce his 'no-cuddling' rule with every woman he slept with, he'd never gotten out of bed so fast after sex. He'd just been too overwhelmed
"I don't have a mother. Never had." Adam deadpanned, looking away from Eva.That had Eva stilling, and she strived to ask her next question in a way that wouldn't feel like she was prying.“Oh, so you grew up in an orphanage?”“No.” He answered.“Foster care?” She asked tentatively. She received the same stiff answer. “No.”Eva frowned. He didn't grow up in an orphanage or foster care, so what did he mean by he'd 'never had' a mother?Unless he was some kind of alien, then there was something he didn't want to tell her. Before she could ask anything else, Adam beat her to it."Are you going to include the steamy sessions we'll be having in the book you're intending to write?""Jeez, no!" Eva grimaced, mortified by the very idea. "I'll probably be writing about myself and how I was able to step out of my comfort zone. Sex scenes aren't needed, thank you very much.""Besides..." She slanted him a provocative look. "...the 'steamy sessions' won't be memorable anyways.""Won't they?" A de
Eva stared at Adam, her heart squeezing tightly as she watched him pretend like he hadn't just told her one of the most heartbreaking stories she'd ever heard. He was obviously trying to pretend like his past didn't haunt him anymore, but remembering his earlier reaction about her asking him about his mother and now that guardedness in his eyes, she knew it did haunt him.Was that why he said he didn't believe in love? She wanted to tell him how sorry she was, but she was sure he wouldn't appreciate that. She was still contemplating what to say when Adam stood up from the log he was sitting on.“It's very cold tonight. We might have to sleep in the living room where the fireplace can warm us, so I'll go and start the fire.” He said, and before she could say a word, he was already on his way.Eva watched him go without a word, certain she'd pushed him way out of his comfort zone. After listening to his stories about his friends which had basically revolved around the same people, she'd
Adam moved silently towards the couch, examining Eva who was sprawled beneath the mold of blanket that was covering her, which had rolled down to ride in the middle of her luscious breasts. He winced as last night played in his mind, how he'd bolted on her like a jerk right after they'd had sex, and wondered whether she was going to reproach him about it when she woke up.Lifting his camera, he brought her into focus. The mellow sunlight filtering into the room didn't provide adequate lighting and so he adjusted the lens to compensate for it.Then he began taking pictures. He knew Eva slept like a dead weight, but surprisingly, it didn't take long for the clicking sounds of the camera to begin rousing her, and he caught her gradual awakening on film.Droopy eyes fluttered open, a corner of her sensual mouth quirking. “What are you doing, Wild One?” Her voice held no censure, just lazy curiosity, and he took that as a good sign that she wasn't upset about last night“What I love to do m
Thwack! Thwack!Adam set a big log of wood on a large tree stump, and with a precise downward stroke of his axe, he divided the log into two. Grabbing the pair, he tossed them onto a small growing pile.Eva watched in absolute fascination as he worked. “Can I do that too?” She asked him, feeling the urge to test her strength. He picked another log and placed it on the stump, then stopped to look at her. “You? Chopping wood?” He all but chuckled, teasing her. “Sorry, Sweetheart. This isn't for you.”“Try me.” She squared her shoulders daringly and took the axe from him before he could protest.Pushing him aside, she stood in front of the log. She raised the axe, and focusing with all her strength swung it downward. She only managed to bury the end of the blade in the log, but jolts of pain shot through her arms, making her withdraw instantly.“Touché.” She said, wincing as she stepped back. “You were so right. Certainly not for me.”Adam chuckled, the sound vibrating with warmth. Whe
Today was the last full day she had with Adam Garcia, and Eva planned to make the most use of it. Before the real world intruded on their fling and they both parted ways, she wanted to experience a bit more of what she felt with the man that she'd never felt with any other man.Staring down at the said man, she had to drag in a breath.Lying and sleeping facedown, the blanket she'd woken up in the middle of the night to cover them had ridden to the middle of his ass, exposing the top parts of his butt cheeks and the hairy expanse of his muscular thighs. His permanently unruly hair was strewn in messy disarray around his head, giving him that rugged, caveman look. His sculpted back was covered by red nail marks, things she'd done to him in the heat of passion.Christ, no man had a right to look so gorgeous.Even asleep and completely tousled, the sexual responses of her body to him made her weak in the knees. She spotted his camera lying on the floor by the couch, and unable to resist
"Why?" Adam questioned, wondering why Eva was reacting this way to the picture. He looked at her face, at the way her mouth had dropped open in shock, and he instantly got his answer."It's been you all along. The guy from the New Year's Eve party." She stared at him in wonder.Adam's heart was pounding furiously, and all the similarities began to race through his mind. His hunch on their very first meeting at The Storm nightclub was real. Eva truly was the masked woman. They stared at each other in stunned silence, and then burst out laughing at the same time. Adam knew he was trying to laugh off the shock and other unsettling realities, and he suspected she was trying to do the same."Oh God, you really are the weirdo who kissed me that night. I can't believe I've not figured it out all this while." She chuckled."Look who's calling who a weirdo. The one who ran away like a timid virgin after the kiss." He tried to laugh genuinely, but a heaviness had settled in his chest Adam
