Emma's POV
He stood in the door, filling it, and hatred raged and flamed in the back of his eyes. I didn't miss the tension in the room as both men looked at each other as if ready to start a war right there and then.
Opening the door wide, Cain gestured to Alexander showing him the way out with his clenched fist. Alexander however, being the happy chap calmly stood up, gave me a quick peck on the cheek, before straightening his suit and walking out.
Well this totally went well than expected!
Slamming the door shut, my boss strode over to the chair next to my bed. I trembled frightfully, as he sat there his mouth shut but his eyes still eyeing me, anger written all over them.
He then stood up looked at the yellow roses and the fluffy pink teddy bear before he began to speak.
"These are from him, aren't they? Didn't I make it clear that you should stay away fr
Cain's POV"How incompetent are you really? It was one simple thing, I mean even a ten year old could do this right!" I said looking at the nerdy woman standing in front of me.Her dress so odd, her hair black but messy, her hands constantly fidgeting at my remarks, her thin lips shuddering out of fear and her glasses were almost ready to break. What she did next totally caught me off guard.."No...no...no. Don't cry!!" I said grabbing the telephone and calling David..Within minutes, David was in my office escorting the woman out."I want her gone, David! Find me another." I lashed out on him."Sir, she's the fifth one this week. I'm afraid I can't find anyone else. You know better than I, that only Emma Millers is capable of this job," he said his eyebrows raised waiting for me to say something. One month! One month till I fired Millers
Cain's POV"No one, absolutely no one,"she answered to the little boy's voice, her hands on the door ready to slam it shut on my face..This was gonna be harder than expected. She stood there her eyes boring into mine like tiny pieces of sharp glass. This was the first time seeing Millers dressed casually like a normal person does! Her hands in the pockets of her blue faded jeans, her woolen maroon sweater hugging her body perfectly and her hair tied up in a messy bun."Um... Millers, can we...." Before the words escaped from my lips she had already begun to shut me up."Lemme stop you right there!See there's nothing to talk about, you already made it clear that I was FIRED! It's so easy for you to discard people like trash, simply because you have money, isn't it? Never thinking about the families that maybe destroyed by your rash yet irrational decisions, huh? So for the little
Emma's POVI walked down the street as the wind howled my dress from side to side. Today went on well, I mean working as a waitress wasn't as bad as Ace made it to be. For the first time in forever I could say that I was actually happy with my new job. Sure it didn't pay much but my co- waitresses were so supportive and Jada well she was the kindest boss I had met.I took a corner down the dark alley now approaching our neighborhood. Home at last! I reached for our door not missing the familiar Bugatti Veyron parked across the street. My mood suddenly changed, I thought I had made it clear to him the other day.Opening the door and hunging my old black trench coat on the rack, I heard Ace's voice from across the living room."Yeah I'm a master of ninjutsu and karate! Believe me this pistol could blow your brains out in an instant, yeah this baby is a lethal weapon and i won't hesitate to use it."
Cain's POV" I need you to go through the various designs before we present them again to the board""Right away sir," she said a smile forming on her face.It felt good having Millers around, I can't believe she made me go all the way to church just to promise before the Lord that I would respect her. Well she had a very interesting family, starting from a very complicated teenage brother who tried to threaten me with a toy gun, it was amusing infact. Then her other brother who couldn't get his eyes off my car and finally her mother who made sure that I would carry her chicken casserole home.Even as I sat at my desk, signing some documents my mind couldn't help but drift to Emma. Her name also added some tune in my mind. I looked through the thin glass that separated my office and her little work space. She looked so beautiful as her hair often got in the way of what she was assessing in the laptop
Emma's POV"It was pretty intense Ma. So get this Em continuously stuffed her face with some muffins without remembering his bro who was just 'a few inches from where she was seated'..anyway that's not the interesting part," Ace told his version of the story to mom and John. They had already placed their spoons on the dinner table keenly listening to what Ace yarped about." Hey? I thought you hated chocolate anyway," I interrupted."Don't try to pin this on me, you selfish chocolate craver! Where was I? Ooh i remember now! I was minding my own business the usual, taking orders, begging for tips...then this pimp shows up and starts flirting with Em giving her chocolate muffins and all. Few minutes later, the door opens in an instant revealing a fuming Cain Powers aka Em's boss. Then I being dashing as usual, save the day, I warn Em that her boss is in the building," Ace grinned pausing momentarily by
Emma's POV"He asked where you were! I had no choice but to tell him," David whined. If it wasn't for him, my boss wouldn't have figured out my whereabouts. Speaking of boss, I wanted to apologise but it was as if he was trying to avoid me. I get it, having somebody's vomit on your face wasn't quite ' forgivable'."No more hotdogs for you!" I snapped angrily at him before running to my little work space."But...but..," David's voice became distant as I hurriedly sat behind my desk.Today, I was supposed to be writing the minutes during the board meeting as my boss brought forth the ideas and the designs to be approved before construction began. The shareholders were a bunch of old stinking rich probably with high IQ men. One, they were hard to please. Two, they were intimidating I mean one glare from them and that was enough to make your legs wobbly. And three, they were serious
Cain's POVI gotta admit the hotdogs were really something; I was amazed to say the least. But the one thing that made my heart suddenly skip a beat if that's even possible was seeing Millers' face so close to mine waiting for an expression from me in how delicious they were. I observed her face, her plump pink lips that mesmerized me, and her eyes gosh those brown eyes that I was lost in. I wanted her to have eyes just for me, I wanted her to be mine, those lips to long for mine just as mine longed for hers. All these emotions bottling inside me confused me, made everything a blur for me, what was going on? Was I changing because of her? What I felt for Julia years ago cannot compare to what I'm feeling now for the woman standing in front of me. She had managed to turn me on without even lifting a finger."Well Sir? How is it? Don't tell me it's bad. Are you allergic to the sauce! Oh no, this was a bad idea!"&nb
Cain's POVShe was giving me the silent treatment? Fine then. Have it her way then. Why was her silence hurting me?I looked at her once more through the small thin glass that separated our work spaces. Look at her, she was talking to David even the rest of the staff but not me. Not a single word to me since morning. Should I apologise? But for what? Kissing her in the middle of the park. Any girl would die just for me to give her a peck on the cheek not just a full blown kiss on the lips.I tend to forget that she's not like the rest. She's different from the rest and I liked that about her. To say that I wasn't dreaming about her yesterday would be an understatement. I dreamt of her all night with her on my bed as I fulfilled all her pleasures; it even got more intense in the shower and I was like a love struck puppy longing for her to kiss me in equal fervour but then ..it was just that..a dream.
