“I found out something interesting on Saturday and I was able to confirm it on Sunday.” Stella said to Meira as they stood side by side in the school assembly hall.
“Like what?”.
“You don’t live in your house anymore and it would seem that you have something with Raine Cruz.” Stella replied.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” She said stiffly.
“You’re living with him aren’t you? I asked the new owners of your house and the lady was eager to tell me everything she knows.” Stella said. “She told me…”
“Why don’t you remove the b
Meira leaned against the sliding door frame as she watched Raine who was leaning against the banister looking out at nothing in particular. She’d heard him knock at her door hours earlier but she’d been too messed up to answer the door because she knew if he saw her that way, he’d get angry.“Hey.” He greeted without looking back at her. “You’re awake now?”.“Um… yeah.” She cleared her throat, pushed off the door and walked over to meet him. “Thank you for taking care of the twins.”“It’s nothing.” He turned his head to look at her and frowned as he straightened. “Have you been crying?”.
“What were you two thinking, fighting like teenagers in the canteen? How can you caution students not to fight when the two of you go ahead and do just that?!”. Mrs Lawanson demanded angrily banging her fist on the table.“She started it.” Stella pointed at Meira.“I did not ask for your opinion that you should give it Mrs Paulinus.” Mrs Lawanson admonished. “What you both did can affect this school if it gets out and I know it will, which is why I’m going to have both of you suspended until further notice.”“But madam…”, Stella sputtered.“Shut up Mrs Paulinus.” Mrs Lawanson ordered. “Leave my office please and Mrs Gilbert&he
The next day“Mrs Lawanson, Mr Cruz is here to see you.” Her secretary Beatrice announced.Mrs Lawanson looked up from the computer screen in surprise. “Mr Raine Cruz of Emerson Cruz group?”.“Yes ma’am.” Beatrice nodded.“Let him in.” She said. The door closed for a minute before it opened again and Raine walked into the office closing the door behind him.“Good morning Mr Cruz.” She rose to her feet as he approached her desk and held out her hand for a shake.“Morning ma&rsq
Gabe peered into Raine’s home office and saw him seated behind his desk talking seriously to someone on the phone. He wasn’t frowning so Gabe guessed that he was probably not angry but then men were so used to hiding their emotions behind a mask.“Come in Gabe.” Raine said after a minute.Gabe startled and froze wondering how Raine knew he was there.“There’s a camera outside in the hallway.” Raine informed him.“Oh.” Gabe stumbled into the office and walked over to the desk. “Are you busy?”.“No I’m not. What’s up?”. He asked.
“Emeliano!”. He heard his sister’s scream.“Raina!”. He called out. “Mom! Dad!”.Raine jerked awake from his dream sweating profusely. It was always the same one and no matter how hard he forced himself to remember… he couldn’t.He guessed it was the thought of their anniversary that brought on the nightmare again and it was like that every year.He got out of bed and walked to his bathroom to wash his face, avoided looking at his reflection in the mirror and walked back to his room. He checked the time on his phone and saw that it was only two am and he sighed knowing that he wouldn’t be able to sleep again so he went to pick up his laptop from the table where he was charging it and got to work.If he couldn’t sleep then he could work and take his mind of his parents and Meira as well.~~~~~~
Meira tossed and turned on her bed unable to sleep as she wondered what Raine was doing at the so called dinner meeting. He had probably lied about it and it wasn’t really a dinner meeting but a date.Meira huffed annoyed with herself.“What is wrong with you Meira? It is none of your business what he does with his life.” She scolded herself. “Go to sleep.”She turned on her side and shut her eyes then she began to count sheep in her head and various other nursery rhymes until she fell asleep.*******Meira walked into the dining room with a bright smile on her face the next morning but it dimmed a little when she saw Raine talking to the twins about someth
Meira was in class teaching her students when a junior student rushed in breathing heavily as if he’d run a marathon to give her the worst news a mother should probably never hear in her life.“Jacob, what is it?”. Meira asked.“Ma’am, you’re needed in the headmistress’ office. It’s about your son Gabriel.” Jacob replied.Meira was stunned and didn’t know how to react at first until she got her bearing and dashed out of the class with Jacob following behind her.She didn’t want to think about what could’ve happened to her son so she just cleared her mind waiting for another news – one that was probably a good one even though no news
Two days laterRaine smirked at the commotion the parents of the expelled pupils were causing in the headmistress’ office and he stood back enjoying the scene until the headmistress turned her head and saw him leaning against the wall over the shoulder of one of the parents and waved him over.“Good morning Mr Cruz.” Mrs Lincoln greeted as he approached her.“Morning ma’am.” Raine shook hands with her.“What is he doing here? I’m sure he’s not a parent.” One of the fathers said.Raine turned to look at the man who spoke and fixed him with a steely gaze. “I might not be a parent but I’m Gabriel
