Chapter 6

Queen Dianne’s P.O.V

Flashback to six years ago

Royal palace

I was just leaving the nursery because my little miracle was sound asleep and the guard was stationed outside her window keeping her safe from everything. We are really blessed to have had her after struggling for years and having quite a lot of miscarriages. I was ready to give up and live with the fact that we would not have any children of our own and I know Zach was really sad because of this.

We both decided that we would be trying one last time and then our miracle little Mary was born without any complications or problems. The morning of her birth was the most stressful and funny day in my life. Zach was so cute being so worried when I told him that my water had broke and that he would need to get me to the pack hospital. He ran around the house for like ten minutes looking for his keys when we wouldn’t even need them.

I picked the hospital bag up and walked up to him, tapped him on the shoulder and led him with me out the door and to the hospital.

I met up with Zach in our room and we cuddled a little bit before we heard the commotion and the mind link came in.

“We are under attack. It looks like the rebellion. All available hands on deck.”

Zach looked at me, gave me a hug and went to down to go and help out. I was on my way to the nursery to go and sit with Mary but on the way there one of the omegas flagged me down and asked if I wouldn’t mind coming down and sitting with the other woman and children who are waiting for news from the warriors. I agreed and told her that I was just going to fetch little Mary and then come down and sit with them. I asked her to get some story books for the kids and have some other help her make hot chocolate and hot drinks for everyone in the library and have some on standby for the warriors and helpers when they returned.

She nodded and went her way to the kitchen. I hurried along to the nursery. I opened the door and walked to the crib as normal. That was where the normal stopped.

The crib was empty and there was no sign of her anywhere in the room. I looked down and there was no guard down under the window.

I was starting to panic now.

I didn’t want to mind link Zach and distract him if he was busy fighting because that could make him distracted and could cost him his life or cause serious injury. I decided it was best to call my beta female Nina and have her come and help me search. She arrived with Alex, and he said that the fight was over. Once I heard that I decided that I would contact Zach immediately.

“Zach.”

“Yes honey?”

“I don’t want to worry you, but I can’t find Mary. She is not in her crib in the nursery, and no one has moved her that I have asked. I am a little freaking out at the moment.”

I was met with silence, and he also didn’t respond to any other links making me worry. I was on my way out of the pack house when I met with Zach on the front steps.

“When was the last time you saw her?”

“Right before the commotion broke out and you left to go and help. I came to our room right after I was with her.”

“All pack members please be on the lookout for any clues as to Mary. She has been taken from her crib during the commotion. We believe that it was a distraction. If anyone has taken Mary please let us know asap.

All people willing to help in the search of the pack lands please meet me outside on the front steps in the next five minutes.”

“Don’t worry we will find her.”

Lee-Anne came down and led me to the kitchen where she sat me down and made me a cup of camomile tea. I drank my tea and went out while she was distracted to go and help in the search to find my daughter because no one has said that they have her. I went and stood next to Zach where he was explaining the plan and followed him when he went south. We both shifted and let Athena and Apollo take the lead and follow any scent that might still be lingering in the area.

It was hours later when the cold and rain started that Zach suggested that we stop the search for the time being and try again as soon as the rain has cleared. Everyone searching needs to go and eat and get some rest before we could continue anyway. I didn’t want to because I didn’t want to leave my daughter alone out here with someone that might mean her harm.

Zach had to drag me back with him and force feed me because I didn’t want to do anything other than look for my little girl.

Who would do something like this? Everyone knew that she was a miracle and that we feel that she was gifted to us by the Moon Goddess.

Zach carried me up the stairs and helped me get dressed in my sleepwear and then he put me in bed. He was about to leave when I grabbed his hand and told him that he would also need to get some rest if we wanted to be fresh and ready to continue the search tomorrow morning. He reluctantly agreed and got into bed with me, cuddling me to him.

Sleep didn’t come easy but eventually I was overtired and let sleep take me to the darkness of my own mind where maybe once I wake it I will find that the events of today was just a sick and twisted nightmare that didn’t really happen and that my little miracle was safe and sound sleeping in her crib in the nursery.
