Another bullshit crap day.
"Ahh...I hate this weather." Leah said as soon as she plopped down on her desk. "Right," Mia said and took out her math notebook from Leah's bag. "You copied it, right?" Mia asked and Leah nodded. "Seriously? We are already seniors. Why do we have to do homework now?" Leah asked and Mia passed her a look of disbelief.
"The teacher gave us the homework so we can practice for the exams and people like you don't care," Mia said making Leah shrug. "I hate math. Only if math wasn't the subject. I would have topped in this class." Leah said Mia nodded.
"Yeah," Mia said and turned around to talk to the girl behind her while Leah looked around the class. Her eyes halted on a specific figure sitting in the fourth row, the last seat.
"Oh."
She sat up straight once she saw that boy. It was the same boy she bumped into yesterday. He was writing something in his book. His head hung low like always and he looked very lonely. She continues to look at him...thinking about whether she should go to him or not because she has seen in movies that quiet people and mysterious people like him are serial killers.
He raised his head and turned to look right at her. She didn't lash her gaze away either. Was he looking at her? Yes, he was. He lowered his head again and shifted on his chair. She frowned upon looking at his peculiar behavior. He was weird is all she can think.
In the end...she decided to not talk to him because he might just get awkward. Some people don't like attention and interaction. Today was a normal day like any other.
The day went by...at first Leah noticed that the boy was always alone until she found him in a group of boys but he was still awkward in them. She decided to mind her own business because the boy was doing fine. It was just how he was.
Soon midterms came and everyone was super busy with studies, especially the seniors. The corridors were crowded as Leah rushed towards her classroom because she was late. Entering her classroom while breathing heavily she took out her roll number slip to sit on her respective desk for the exams. She roamed around the room and waved at Mia who was already sitting beside a fellow student. She continued to look around for her desk until she paused at an empty one. She looked at the person who was her desk mate and to her surprise, it was the same silent, lonely student she bumped into.
She looked at the empty desk beside him and it had her roll number on it. She kept standing there waiting for him to stand up, so she could sit on her chair since on her left hand was the wall. He didn't even look up. She frowned and tapped her finger on the desk in front of him, finally getting his attention. He looked up at her, she couldn't see his eyes. It was still a mystery to her as to how he looked at the board or everything around him.
"I'm sitting beside you." She said and without a word he stood up, getting aside for her to walk in. Before walking in she looked at him and passed him a soft smile. She walked inside and sat at her desk. Taking out her stuff, and getting ready for the exam.
The boy sitting beside her...
She sniffed and slightly peeked at him.
The perfume he was using had an amazing smell. She thought he would smell ugly but he smells pretty nice. The urge to ask which perfume he uses was strong but she kept her mouth locked up.
Soon the teacher came and distributed the exam sheet. She took a deep breath and smiled once she realized she knew almost everything in the paper. She was good in all the subjects except for math. With a smile on her face, she began to do her paper until something struck him.
She wanted to know his name so she decided to peek at his paper. 'Woah...what a name. Igneel. Igneel....his name is Igneel.' She looked up at him and her eyes slightly widened when she found his head slightly turned towards her. Her jaw dropped once she realized what he was thinking. He must be thinking she was peeking into his paper.
She usually doesn't care but right now she was awkward. He looked back at his paper. She took a breath and started to do her paper. He will probably hide his paper from her because he looks like a big nerd but what he did next had her in shock.
He pushed the paper slightly towards her so she could have a look. Her heart literally melted at this gesture of his...she's not gonna lie. What a heroic act he is doing in the presence of three teachers.
She peaked at his paper and her mind went blank once her eyes landed on his answers, especially writing. 'What a writing. I thought my writing was good but it looks shit compared to his. His answer is all correct.' She thought and slowly pushed his paper towards his side, as she showed him a thumbs up, telling him she was doing good.
At this point, she was sure he couldn't speak.
Then...what is he doing here? People like Tobias might bully him to death.
She focused on her paper for the time being until she was done. She looked beside her and frowned when she found the dude missing.
"He left already? Damn, I wanted to talk." She said before grabbing her stuff and giving her paper to the teacher. With satisfaction, she left her classroom and was met by her best friend Mia...who did great in her exam too. On their way, Leah talked about Igneel with Mia.
"Anyway...don't get so close. He still hangs out with the fat gangsters of this school." Mia said. "You're right but he always....looks so out of it," Leah said and Mia frowned. "What do you mean?" Mia asked.
"Ahh...nothing, leave it. Gosh, we have another exam the day after tomorrow, I hope I do well in it too." Leah said as she threw her arm around Mia's shoulder.
"Same," Mia said.
"Let's grab some ice cream on our way," Leah said excitedly. "Sounds great," Mia said and with that both the best friend's rushed downstairs.
Their friendship was amazing.
Some envy their friendship and some were happy to see them together.
Well...there is always an evil eye lying among us.
Another day of torture. "I hope...I will do well in this exam. You know how the teacher teaches something else and gives something else in the exam." Leah said while walking into the class with Mia beside her. "Right. I almost failed her exam last time. God saved my ass." Mia said and Leah chuckled. "I remember, you were crying because your mama took all your video games away. Seriously, you need to leave that crappy game." Leah said and Mia passed her a glare. "And you need to stop reading those mangas of yours," Mia said and Leah shook her head."You can ask for my life but don't tell me to give up on my manga," Leah said and Mia rolled her eyes. Both of them looked ahead of them when they saw Tobias making his way toward them with his gang. He was passing by. He looked at the two of them and winked at both of them. Leah immediately covered Mia's eyes and passed Tobias with a disgusted look. He thought they would faint like his other fangirls. Seriously, they don't understand wh
Another day of torture, it was but then again it was their last exam.Playing with her pen, waiting for the teacher, Leah looked back at Mia who was busy talking with her desk mate, meanwhile here she sat all mute which was not her thing at all. She slightly glanced at Igneel who just sat beside her in silence. She wanted to talk to him but about what? "You...do you have friends?" Leah asked while getting closer to him. It was a very dumb question but the least dumb one she had in her mind.Except for answering her, he just nodded."You don't like talking?" She asked and he quickly shook his head. "Then talk to me." She said with a soft smile on her face. He slowly turned his head towards her. "Your......name?" He asked and her smile widened. She thought he knew her name because every other person does. "I'm Leah...Leah Williams." She said and he nodded."Your name?" She asked although she knew his name. She wanted to continue the conversation before it died. "I'm...Igneel." He said.
After school was over."I don't understand why you're waiting for him," Mia said while leaning against the wall with Leah who was waiting for Igneel to come out of the class. "Because he is my friend now," Leah said with a shrug. "You cannot make anyone your friend," Mia said, making Leah sigh. "Do you remember how we first met, Mia? You were just like him...well not scared but lonely." Leah said and Mia smiled."That's right. If it wasn't for you. I would still be lonely. You kept running behind me...kept meddling in my business. Never left my side no matter what others said." Mia said. Her eyes sparkled as she remembered the old days."Yes...he is worse than you...I do sympathize with him but he is alluring." Leah said while looking at Mia. "Well...I have to go to my aunt's house. I have to babysit my cousins today. I will get late if I keep waiting for him. I'll leave first." Mia said and Leah nodded. "See you tomorrow," Leah said while waving at Mia. She looked back at the door
It was one of the worst days in Leah's life until now.Gordon and Mia decided to handle the situation with fatso while on the other hand, Leah helped Igneel to reach the infirmary room. She felt extremely bad for Igneel as he limped beside her. Leah had his arm around her shoulder to support him. Only if she reached a little earlier he wouldn't be this beat up."I tried to fight back." He said in a low voice. Her eyes slightly widened before turning into sad ones in no second. He tried to fight back...just because she told him to stand up for himself. "I'm a" Before he could speak any further she poked in"You did great. You fought back against so many. It takes great courage to even talk against so many...who have no intention but just to hurt you." She said, Her voice was gentle as ever and so were her expressions. "You did too." He said and she paused. "What?" She asked while slightly raising her head to look at him. "You defended me too...yesterday." He said and her smile widene
Starting from that day...Leah did her best to make Igneel open up with her but he kept pushing her away. She felt like he wanted to be friends with her but he was hesitant. Probably trust issues? But she didn't give up. It became her habit to roam around him and Mia always was dragged along with her."God...what does he think he is? What's with this 'hard to get ' type of attitude?" Mia asked while rolling her eyes. "It's not hard to get. He is just hesitant." Leah said as both of them entered their classroom. "I'm telling you...stop wasting your time. If you put this much focus on your math exam...you will top the school." Mia said and Leah chuckled as both of them settled down on their respective chairs. "Oh, stop exaggerating," Leah said and looked behind at the empty desk. He was late today...so unlikely of him."Mia..." Leah called Mia as she put her head on the desk. "Hmm." Mia turned toward her once she heard Leah calling her. "What could be the reason for this attitude of his
"Igneel...do I look like a pushover to you?" She asked while taking a bite of her chicken sandwich. He slowly turned his head to his left side to look at Leah who just ate her sandwich, waiting for his reply. "No." He said. His voice wasn't low. She swore it was the second time today...she felt shivers running down her spine once she heard his voice again. She never knew a teenager could have such a deep voice. The girls here will fall for his voice. Is that the reason he doesn't speak? "You're not a pushover." He said and she smiled. "I'm glad to know that." She said and turned to look at him. Her eyes widened once she realized he was too close...in fact, she was sitting too close to him. She slowly moved away and took out the medicine from her pocket once she realized that he finished his sandwich."Here, have this medicine." She handed him the medicine and he quietly took it. "Thank you." He whispered under his breath and she nodded. Both of them flinched once they heard rustling
That day... was the beginning of their friendship. All three of them went to Mia's house. Her parents were at work and they probably came late. They plopped down in her living room and started to study as planned. It was the very first time Leah saw Igneel speaking more than a line. Because he was teaching her math. She was surprised at how good he was in math and she clearly understood him. "Ahh...I'm tired and hungry. Why don't we guys wrap up for today and cook something for ourselves?" Leah asked while packing her stuff. Mia on the other hand nodded in agreement. "Let's cook," Mia said and stood up. They both looked at Igneel. "What would you like to eat, Igneel?" Leah asked Igneel who was quietly sitting beside her. "Anything," Igneel said while looking up at Mia. Leah smiled and stood up too. "I knew, you weren't picky. Let's make sandwiches." Leah said while clapping her hands together."Do...you like sandwiches?" Igneel asked while looking up at Leah. His voice wasn't low an
It was another day but with each other...it didn't feel like torture anymore. They should have met a lot earlier. "Say...have you guys started preparing for the college entrance exam?" Leah asked while sucking on her popsicle as she walked between Igneel and Mia as usual. They were making their way out of the school. "Um...I told you before...I will be taking over my grandpa's cafe once I graduate." Mia said and Leah nodded. Both of them turned their heads to look at Igneel. "I'm...gonna take a year break," Igneel said in his usual low voice. Leah pouted and took a big bite of her popsicle. "I want a break too...my parents are so pushy." She said while shaking her head. "What major will you take?" Igneel asked and Leah rubbed her chin. "Probably psychology...I love psychology. Thank God my parents aren't against it." Leah said and Mia nodded. All of a sudden Igneel fell to the ground while grabbing his hand from behind. A basketball rolled down beside him indicating that he was hit
