Chapter 3

Good day ma” Dotun greets,

“Welcome my son” Deja's mom say, “and how Is your work, hope everything Is going well?“ she asked,

“We bless Almighty” Dotun retorted,

“what can I offer you?“ Deja's mom asked,

“Am fine, sweetheart, please, let's go back home, tomorrow, we will come back with mom's gift” Dotun says,

“wait a while,” Deja says,

“Desola, how Are your studies?“ Dotun asked,

“am doing well In my studies” Desola retorted,

“Are you in the same school with Doyin?“ Deja asked,

“No ooh, am At the University of Ibadan and Doyin Is At the University of Lagos” Desola retorted, “and most of my high school mates are in Lagos, I wish my school Is In Lagos, believe me, I won't live in the campus, I will prefer to live with you,” Desola says,

“I have always told you that If you finish with your school, you will come and stay with me and Doyin Is free to come and spend time with me during her holiday break,” Deja says,

“I wanted to come to your house during last holiday break but my elder brother didn't allow it,” Doyin says, “but this coming holiday break, I will come and visit you or maybe one of this weekend,” Doyin says,

“you are welcome to my home anytime,” Deja says,

“thank you, sis,” Doyin says,

“you are welcome,” Deja says,

“Desola when are you visiting us in Lagos?“ Dotun asked,

“ I will come one of these days,” Desola says,

“Sweetie, how far, shall we go home?“ Dotun asked,

Okay, let's go” Deja says, and the two of them walked side by side to the roadside where Dotun parks his car, while Desola and Doyin walked them to the roadside, and waited until they entered into the car and drove off, and Desola and Doyin returned home while their mom asked, “have they gone?“

“yes” Desola retorted, “but, she told me to bring sustenance for her In the evening,” she says,

“ Why?“ her mom asked,

“I don't understand, that was what she told me” Desola retorted,

Okay, go and prepare dinner on time before you go out” her mom says,

“Alright,” Desola says, and she heads to the kitchen where she cooks family dinner and she dishes out her sister's potion she and Doyin took the food to her sister's house, and when they got to Deja's house and Dotun was staring at Doyin stylishly but Deja didn't notice, because she was busy gisting with her sister and Doyin got the message from Dotun, she didn't contribute to the discussion of her cousins but busy watching Dotun,

A few minutes later, Dotun's friends came to visit him and told him that there is going be a birthday party this night, “please, let me go and prepare myself, I must enjoy this moment” Dotun's friend named Deji says,

“I don't think I can go with you because of my wife,” Dotun says,

“we are not going for anything more than to have fun and enjoy our life, just eat and little drink,” Deji says,

“how is your wife?“ Dotun asked,

“She is at home with the kids, my kids were problematic, dad, I want to buy this and that” Deji says,

“you are fortunate to have kids in your marriage, but my marriage Is not fruitful, my wife is always thinking and my mom Is not helping matters, am fed up with the whole issue,” Dotun says,

“Sorry about that, Almighty will do the best,” Deji says,

“Amen,” Dotun says, and Desola and Doyin came out of the house, they met Dotun outside and they say, “we are going,” Desola says,

“Okay, I will see you later tomorrow,” Dotun says, and his friend says, “Dotun, let me be on my way,” Deji says, “can I call you on my way going to the party?“ Deji says,

“Okay, you can call me,” Dotun says,

“get yourself prepared and be ready, please don't keep me waiting,” Deji says, and he returned to his house while Dotun went to meet his wife inside the room, “what Is this?“ Dotun asked,

“your mom brought food for us,” Deja said,

“you see, my mom didn't despise you but her problem Is our unable to have a child in our marriage,” Dotun says, “what I will advise now Is that you should get closer to her maybe she could be of help,” Dotun says,

“your mother doesn't want to see me in your life, she doesn't want to see me anywhere close to you because of my unable to give birth, she believes that am one of those girls that have misused themselves during their splinter age,” Deja says, “and I never know that I could be a victim of circumstances," Deja says, and she started sobbing,

"Sweetheart, please, I don't want you to fall sick, you think, cry all day, and you will still go to your office, don't see that the stress Is too much, please, stop crying, Almighty is behind us he will put smiles on our face,” Dotun says, and he told Deja and says, “sweetie, one of my friends is celebrating his birthday today, I just wanted to while away the time, I won't stay long, I will stay in the party briefly like thirty minutes to one hour,” Dotun says,

“Can I go with you?“ Deja asked,

“Sweetie, stay at home, you know, that kind of a party is usually rough and I don't want you to lose your respect as a married woman but If I see that others bring their wife, then I will come back to pick. you” Dotun says, and he steps outside waiting for his friend Deji, a few minutes later, Deji came with his car and they entered into the car and he drove to the party, getting to the party, they met with lots of their old friends and school mates, and they saw lots of undergraduates and other smaller girls that attended the birthday party, and Deji went to meet the celebrant, “hi my man,” Deji says,

“eh, my friend” the celebrant “how are you?“ he asked,

“Happy birthday to you and many happy returns,” Deji says,

“Amen, thank you” the celebrant, “and how is your family” the celebrant, and two of them walked amidst the crowds and see Dotun and he greets Dotun, my man” how are you?“ the celebrant, “long time” how is your family?“ the celebrant asked,

“We are fine,” Dotun said calmly, “are you still in the same estate in Lagos?“ Dotun asked,

“yes,” the celebrant, “and you, which area are you now because since you've got married, we are seen each other for the first time,” the celebrant asked,

“I have a house telephone, before I leave, I will write it and give you,” Dotun says,

“Alright, they will come and serve you, just order anything, and they will attend you,” the celebrant says, and he left them in their seat amidst the crowded party,

Everybody that attended the party was eating drinking and dancing enjoying themselves in the party, and there were a set of girls sitting down elsewhere in the party when Dotun wanted to ease himself and he saw them and noticed that Doyin was among them and quickly call her, “Doyin, ah ah, you are here in this party?“ Dotun asked, and he said, “Please wait for me there, am coming,” Dotun says, and he went and ease himself, few minutes, he came back to meet Doyin and he excuses her to a corner that was closed to the party, “how are you?“ Dotun asked,
