Chapter 13

Jackie slowly sunk into the deep, red heart-shaped tub. Large square mirrors decorated the walls around the tub all the way up to the ceiling. She turned the jets on low. Jackie raised the complimentary wool bath sponge and squeezed the water out over her head, wetting her hair. She repeated the process until her hair was soaked.

She let out a long sigh. Before she could recount recent events in her mind, the bathroom door slowly opened.

Nick strolled in. He quickly looked around the bathroom. He quietly walked over to the sink and examined the contents in the basket. Jackie waited for him to speak with baited breath.

“More room amenities. Massage oils, lotions, soaps,” he said out loud. He picked up a red bar of soap. He unwrapped the plastic around it. He brought it to his nose. Nick turned to look at her. “Smells like cinnamon. I don’t blame you for wanting to take a relaxing bath, but . . . it’s only two. As far as I’m concerned, the night’s not over, yet,” he said with a smirk.
