It was eerily still that I would be hearing the needle fall when someone dropped it. All because I joked?

My gaze shifted to Everette and Levi.

“What? Is there something I should know? Don’t tell me you two have a past,” I muttered, chuckling again for the second time.

It was Levi who first smiled at me.

“There is none, Mrs. Watson. Mr. Watson only loved you. He is purely straight.”

“And you?” I asked, kidding again.

Everette held my hand and while Secretary Levi was not looking at us, I moved it away.

“Is there something wrong with choosing your own gender preference, Mrs. Watson? Though I don’t think there is something wrong with following what you want to do with your life,” he declared in a serious tone.

No. He was too straight for me to think that this secretary liked Everette.

It was my only dirty mind which made me think about that. Maybe this mind needed a little cleaning.

“No. We are bound to choose what we want to do. I was only kidding earlier. You two were t
