I regret to inform you that we can't offer you the position.

I replayed the email over in my head once more, and my heart clenched at the words. What was I going to do now? I was looking forward to working at the company. Now, I would have to find another sucky job for the summer.

Standing at the bus stop, I screamed internally at myself for getting my hopes up, and I pulled my coat tighter. Small white flakes of snow fell from the sky, and I stared down at my phone, hoping it would distract me from the bad news and the weather.

It was April in the city, yet it was still freezing outside. I groaned. This day just kept getting worse and worse.

I just texted Danny about the bad news and awaited his response. He and I had been talking for a while now, and we were getting close. I hoped it worked out with him.

My phone buzzed in my hand, and I quickly looked down at it, smiling to myself.

Danny: Damn.

I frowned at his response.
