Chapter 4: You belong to us

By the time Alden arrived at the school with his brothers, Diana was seated at the headmaster's office, a furious scowl masking her face.

She glanced briefly at them as they entered the office and without another word, she grabbed her backpack and stomped out of the office towards the car.

She didn't want to be there when headmaster Walter bellowed in her brothers’ face, about how she had anger issues and how she almost destroyed Syrena's pretty face!

Lost in deep thought, she suddenly bumped into a hard body and she groaned, almost missing her step.

"I'm so sorry," a deep voice said, and strong arms circled her, keeping her steady. "I didn't see you coming."

Diana bit back the sharp retort when she looked up and her eyes met deep stormy gray eyes, hidden slightly underneath a curtain of blonde hair.

It was Jasper Donovan, Headmaster Walter's new assistant.

Diana took a hasty step backwards, her face slowly turning red with a deep blush. So the rumors were true, she thought. Jasper was devilishly handsome. No wonder all the girls went haywire whenever he was around. He was quiet, almost mysterious.

As for her, she didn't find him all that attractive because the only men whom she felt attracted to were her brothers, and Jasper didn't hold a candle to them. Jasper was like a discarded rag doll compared to Alden...

"Are you okay?" Jasper snapped his fingers underneath Diana's nose, trying to get her attention.

Diana shook her head, cursing herself inwardly for losing focus again. What the hell was wrong with her?

"I'm sorry," she stammered, her face turning redder from embarrassment. "I just... I didn't see you there... I..."

"It's alright, Diana," Jasper smiled, and Diana had to admit that he was indeed handsome, just not as handsome as her brothers.

"You know my name," she stated with a strained smile.

"Of course," Jasper chuckled. "I'm the headmaster's assistant. It's my job."

"Right." Diana nodded and tucked a lock of dark hair behind her ear. "I'm sorry I bumped into you Mister Jasper."

"Just Jasper is fine." Jasper amended smoothly, staring at Diana like one obsessed. "And just between both of us, I think Syrena deserves what she got."

Diana's eyes widened and a mischievous smile curled her lips. "You're not gonna scold me?" she asked with narrowed eyes.

Jasper chuckled again and shook his head. "I saw everything that happened," he said, and then shrugged. "I don't support violence of any sort, but bullies like Syrena need to be put in their place."

"Wow," Diana beamed. "I never thought anyone would take my side."

"I guess you didn't," Jasper shrugged again. "But it will be our little secret."

"Sure," Diana nodded, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

Just then, a soft wind blew towards their direction, and blew Diana's hair over her face.

Without thinking, Jasper took a step forward, his hand outstretched to push her hair off her face when a hand landed on his shoulder and pushed him backwards.

Diana looked up to find Alden, Asher and Axel, surrounding her while glaring daggers at Jasper.

For a full minute, the air was filled with tension. Jasper didn't budge as he stared down at the three handsome men before him. His eyes remained their original color, but beneath all that calm was a strange rage slowly building up.

As for the triplets, their eyes had shifted to gold, a sign of their beast. The look in their furious eyes was clear- they didn't like Jasper, especially when he almost touched Diana.

"And who are you?" Jasper asked after a while.

Unable to bear the tension anymore, Diana stepped forward and clasped Alden's hand in hers.

"Jasper, these are my brothers," she quickly explained. "The future Alphas. Alden, Asher, Axel, this is Jasper Donovan, Headmaster Walter's new assistant."

"A pleasure to meet you three," Jasper said politely, but he didn't hold out his hand for a handshake. He knew protection when he saw it, but this? These men were more than protective over Diana.

They were more... possessive. Strange, he thought.

"We had a talk with Headmaster Walter already," Alden finally spoke out, his eyes still staring at Jasper suspiciously. "Everything has been resolved. So your help isn't needed."

"Alden!" Diana gasped, shocked at the blatant disrespect.

"Right. Stay away from Diana." Asher added, a frown creasing his perfect brows.

"It's for your own good." Axel finished, and without another word, they all turned and walked towards the car, Alden pulling Diana with him.

Diana tried to turn and apologize to Jasper but Axel was directly behind her so she missed her chance. Alden pulled the car door open and ushered her in, placing his hand on her hair so she wouldn't bump her head.

Then they got into the car, pulled out of the driveway and sped off.

Jasper stood there watching the car until it disappeared, then he sighed tiredly and walked back into the school.

...

Diana fumed all the way home. She refused to speak and just stared outside, muttering incoherently.

Not that she felt pity or anything for Jasper. He was practically a stranger to her. But the fact that her brothers had acted so possessive over her was a bit embarrassing. She had always enjoyed their over protectiveness, and their possessive side.

But today, it felt really embarrassing. How would Jasper see her? How could they be so disrespectful?

"Diana why did you do that?" Asher finally asked from the front seat.

Diana huffed and folded her arms. "Don't even begin to lecture me, Asher," she snapped. "Syrena was pushing it and I lost control and..."

"That's not what I'm talking about." Asher cut her short. "We don't care what you did to Syrena. She probably deserved it. Why did you let that man touch you?"

Diana's eyes widened as she realized her brothers weren't pissed about her fight in school that day. They were pissed because Jasper tried to touch her. Why?

"He was only going to move my hair out of my eyes," she tried to explain.

"He had no right," Axel snapped beside her. "No one, absolutely no one has the right to touch you Diana. Don't you understand? You belong to us!"

Strangely enough, Diana was happy when her brothers claimed her as theirs that way. But that rebellious side within her emerged and she snapped back at them.

"I'm not an item to be owned. I have every right to talk to anyone I deem fit."

Suddenly Alden stepped on the brakes and the Porsche slid to a stop outside their home.

The force of the brakes threw Diana back in her seat, making the seatbelts tighten around her waist.

Suddenly angry, she unbuckled the seatbelt and got down from the car, slammimg the door close.

"Diana!" Alden called out but she ignored them as she made her way towards the front door.

Slam!

The front door slammed shut and Diana stomped up the stairs to her room. Just when she reached for the doorknob, strong arms circled her waist and she found herself suddenly pinned to the wall, staring straight into intense golden eyes.
