Small world yeah

Saturday Morning

Court Wedding day …

Janelle.

“Your man is here,” The makeup artist said to me with a beaming smile, I looked up at her a small smile at the corner of my lips trying to be Atleast half as excited as she was, as I should be, ofcourse it was my wedding day.

She held my hands and assisted me with standing up, I flashed her a small smile trying to get a grip on myself, my man is here?! If only she knew that I had never set eyes on my man, I didn’t even know his name.

I scoffed inwardly as I began to take slow and steady stride out of the room, I really couldn’t wait to see what manner of guy he was, she helped pick up the extension on my dress behind me as I walked out of the hotel room he lodged me in, My heartbeat accelerated as I walked into the elevator and we began our journey down, as soon as we got to the ground floor the door went open and I saw him, immediately I set my eyes on a man standing in the lobby facing the other way, I just knew it was him, he was very distinct.

Immediately I stepped out of the hallway, the small crowd gasped in admiration as they finally got a hang of what was happening and he took that as a cue to turn around to face me.

I paused in my tracks as I felt my breath catch in my throat and my heart beat accelerate, it was the Adil Carter!, I looked up at him and our eyes locked in on each other, his gaze held a very strange emotion unfamiliar to me as he stared at me.

What the hell did I do to attract this man’s attention that he decided to chose me to be his contract bride, any girl would kill to be in this very position right now, Contract or not. He was Ocean’s depth most eligible bachelor.

He looked extremely ravishing as always in his well tailored army green suit that hugged his body perfectly, his black hair was gelled perfectly to the back, a strand dropping dangerously to his face, his face was well proportioned with a complimentary pointed nose, he was holding a small bouquet of roses in his right hands.

Ofcourse I now understood the reason for the crowd, Adil was known to attract crowd anywhere he went, immediately I stepped out of the elevator and it closed behind me, he began to take long confident strides towards me, immediately he got to me he stretched out the bouquet of flowers to me, and I just stared at him wordlessly wondering what was going on.

“Take it,” he gritted with a small smile and then I realized, he was trying to make an impression, I forced a smile but it didn’t come out quite as sweet as I intended it to be, I gently took the flower from him, and within the twinkling of an eye he wrapped his hands around my waist and pulled me closer to him.

“You look beautiful My love,” he muttered like he was talking to me but loud enough for everyone to hear, the crowd broke out in small Awws as they stared at us, he gently took my hands and began to lead me outside, of course the cameras wouldn’t stop, they kept making videos as we walked out, this was real internet gold for bloggers.

As soon as we got outside, his chauffeur pushed the door to the limousine open, he assisted me with getting in and slowly the doors went close, finally shutting every unwanted crowd out and I felt finally back to reality.

My father is a media person and I never wanted that life, being story for bloggers, which is why I chose to live my life lowkey as an investigative journalist but apparently, fate though delayed is inevitable.

I could not believe I was getting married to the Adil Carter of Ocean depths, recently rumours of him getting married to inherit his father’s company had been flying around, never did I imagine that I was the secret girlfriend the media craved to unravel.

“I expect you to perform your duty as my wife!” I heard him say beside me and I slowly turned to look at him, I swallowed my spit hard and nodded, it was out of my character to just numbly follow everything a man says, but right now seeing how much of a strong hold he had on my life, I don’t think my opinions mattered, my nodding started out softly but turned out hard and more consecutive as my nervousness grew, how was I supposed to face him, the corner of his lips raised up in a sneer as he turned away from me.

It was almost as if he was doing a lot to not lock gazes with me for too long or something along that line, I exhaled deeply and tried to relax more on my seat as I looked forward to signing this fake union legally.

Hours Later …

After the court procedures ….

I shuddered in discomfort as Adil’s grip around my waist tightened, we had ended the court wedding few minutes ago and now, we are at the small hall Adil rented out for a little family after party dinner , we have just been taking pictures and answering all sort of questions from the press men, I had removed the excess fabric attachment from my dress and it made me more comfortable to move around.

“Could it be that you’re getting married to Mr Hughes daughter because he is going bankrupt?!, is this union solely for business?!” A press man asked, since they set their camera rolling it hadn’t stopped, I shook at how thorough these media people could be, it wasn’t a new thing though, since that was what I did for a living also.

With a straight face, Adil turned to him and flashed him a dry smile,

“Janelle and I are in love with each other and what happened with her father is just a coincidence,” he answered and with that he finally led me away from the claws of the hungry pressmen.

“I’ll go get a drink,” I muttered to him, as I freed my self from his grip and walked towards the bar where drinks were being served, the bartender served my drink, I pulled out a chair in front of him and took my seat there, beyond everything that was happening now, there was only one thing on my mind, what exactly would happen tonight, because he explicitly said he expects me to perform my duty as his wife?! What duty might that be?!

“So it’s true?!” I heard a distinct voice behind me, rudely intruding my thoughts, I rolled my eyes to the back of my head as I slowly dropped the cup on the table and turned to him. Peter!.

“Huh, you made it!” I scoffed as I got up to my feet facing him fully, he closed the distance between us and grabbed my hands tightly.

“You cannot be getting married!” He snorted, I scoffed, a small smile curling at the corner of my lips and I looked up at him.

“Why not?!” I asked in a whisper, I could feel the fire in his eyes as I stared at him, I could feel his wings being clipped and his ego being damaged.

“You belong to me! You cannot be happy without me!” He growled his grip on my hands tightening, I grunted lowly and looked up at him.

“Let go peter, you’re hurting me!”

“No you ..”

“You heard the woman, let her go!” I heard Adil rumble behind us, we both turned to look at him, Adil slowly moved his gaze from Peter’s grip on my hand and looked up at him,

“Very rude of you to assault my wife at our wedding,” he grunted, and Peter grip suddenly started to loosen until he let go of me, Adil grabbed my hands and pulled me closer to himself, I just stood there responding his to push wordlessly,

“Leave now, or I’ll make you!” He said to Peter although calmly but firmly as he turned around and pulled me away with him.

“Take care of your psycho exes or I’ll do it for you!” He muttered as we walked away, I nodded slowly as I gently distangled my hands from his and gently placed it round his elbow, he paused and slowly looked down at my hands curved round his elbow and then again I saw that strange look flash through his eyes, he cleared his throat and looked up straight ahead again as we resumed walking.

“You should actually stick with me for the rest of the night!”

“You should meet my family,” he added as we approached a table, an elderly man, obviously his grandfather and another woman, who should be his mother sat at the table, they seemed to be discussing something important as we reached the table.

“You finally decided to let us meet your wife,” the woman beamed with a wide smile as she gently pushed her chair backwards and stood up, she moved forwards and pulled me into a small hug, I forced a smile as I hugged her back, I had been doing a lot of fake smiles today and my cheeks hurts as hell.

“Welcome to the family,” she said as she disengaged from the hug and looked me in the eye with a sweet smile, she gently turned to look at Adil, with a small smile she stepped closer to him and nodded firmly,

“I see you trying, congratulations!” She said but Adil didn’t even react to what she said, he just stared at her expressionlessly as he has always done, she smiled at his nonchalant behaviour at her as she slowly walked back to her seat, picked up her glass of wine and walked away.

Weird!

“She’s beautiful!” His grandfather said and we both turned to look at him,

“Good evening sir,” I geeeted with a small bow and he nodded slowly.

“I like her,” he muttered, and for the first time since the day started I smile genuinely, Atleast someone likes me for real here.

“Hey brother!” We heard a voice yell and all three of us turned to look at the direction of the voice, my eyes went wide as he approached us with a wide and taunting smile.

“Enzo?!” I muttered in surprise, really small world yeah?!
