Anna’s pov

"You heard me the first time," he replied firmly.

"I have the means to make you the better version of yourself and I also need a wife."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "Why me?" I asked, trying to understand why he had chosen me for such an important role in his life.

“I see that you don't lack in any department especially when it comes to women,am sure most women will do anything to be with you. So why do you want to marry a divorcee like me?”

He looked at me intently before replying, ”you are my choice and the woman I want so don't compare yourself to others”

"Marry me for a year, then after a year, we go our separate ways.

"His tone was cold and unemotional. "Why do you want to marry a woman you don't love?" I asked, unable to grasp the concept.

"To get my family off my back," he said with a hint of frustration in his voice.

"My mum and grandmother are setting me up with different women every day, but I am not interested in any of them.

The only way out is to get married," he said with seriousness.

I was still in shock. Here was a man, asking me to marry him for a year, without any love or emotional connection between us.

It sounded like a business deal, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to be a part of it.

"What do you expect from me in this marriage?" I asked, trying to clear my doubts before making any decisions.

"Well, I expect you to be a wife who allows me to keep myself busy with work without interference and a bit and support.”

“In return, I will provide for you and make sure you have everything you need. Like what I said, reciprocity."

he replied, sounding like a true businessman.

My phone interrupted my conversation with the suit man, “hello bitch, I've heard you've lost the bastard baby in your womb.

I told you I am the only woman in Lucas's heart and the only woman for him so you should give up but you were too stubborn, now look at you.”

I listened to my evil sister Chloe on the phone as she went about raining insults on me. I wanted to fight back but her moan cut me off.

“Oh baby!” She moaned out of pleasure on the other side of the phone. Was she with….

“Baby stop, mmmmm, please stop, I'm on the phone with Anna.” She said to someone seductively.

“Who cares if you are on the phone with that bitch? Just let us finish what we started!” I heard Lucas say to my sister before the call dropped.

I wasn't surprised to hear the man I've loved for years saying that about me but it broke my heart, that I wasted my time trying to make him love me back.

Suit man looked me in the eyes and noticed my facial expression and he asked,”are you okay.”

“Yes I am okay.” I replied to him.

I took a deep breath to calm myself before talking to suit man again.

“Give me the details of the marriage proposal.” I said to the suit man firmly.

The man looked into my eyes and smiled.” You are a strong woman do you know that?” He said instead of given me the details right away.

“Are you kidding me? No one has ever considered me a strong person, I am alway the weak and unfit one.”

“They are blind to see the real you.”the man said with a smile,it's like he can see through me
